It's a Monday, so not much fear about it being "sold out" - meaning I will buy a ticket closer to the date, not "soon".

A friend emailed me today about the ticket price - something along the lines of "am I dreaming still?". So I checked and found standing tickets for Stuttgart & Munich at the price of about 80 euro (a bit more for seats), which is what I'd expected.
My mate then told me he saw a ticket online for 200 euro, which of course is way too much.

Thus, please stick to official sellers and not such online scams!

A fan on FB also commented this on a post by the Cure:
QuoteGreat news but do not buy Ticket.viagogo or StubHub. They sell overpriced and/or invalid tickets and won't refund you. Go directly to the venues or official sellers.

So I went to an offical ticket seller and got me a standing ticket. Nothing (well almost) is gonna stop me now from going, even if I'd have to drag myself to the gig half-dead...  :beaming-face

Sorry, it is too late to organise any pre-drink event (also I'm driving my car for part of the journey)! I need to leave soon as I will travel the 2nd part with public transport (the ticket is valid for local trains within the larger Stuttgart area).

I will also be very busy looking for an old mate (who was already there at my first Cure concert in '92), thus I won't have time to look out for other people, sorry folks!  :1f636:

Update: local promoter (Music Circus) indicates that there will be a few tickets available still before the show. TTS are supposed to start at 7.30pm.

The 13th time - Another night like this in Stuttgart

Finally the day had arrived. I was nervous in the days before (will the weather be ok or will it snow? ... will I manage to get my work done and still go to a concert?), but in the end it turned out fine.

This was going to be my 13th concert of The Cure. First time had happened in the same place, back in October 1992. A friend of mine was present back then (and also later sometimes), so I asked him whether he'd be coming. He replied and said "yes", so we were finally going to meet again after years.

My journey with car & train went well. I arrived quite early around 7pm, the hall was still pretty empty and the mixing desk (our "meeting point") was easily accessible. (Merchandise stall was busy already. Gotta say t-shirts for 20 euro are a good price!!)

After the first song by The Twilight Sad, my friend arrived and we chatted (a bit disrespectful to the support band, but that's what happens when old mates meet again).

The Twilight Sad were pretty good (not that I wanna go and buy all of their albums, but a good support act).

By sheer coincidence, another old friend of mine passed by us on his way to the mixing desk (apparently he knows "front of house" mixer Paul Corkett!), he came back to us soon and entertained us with some anecdotes (he sings in a goth rock band and has some tales to tell)! :beaming-face

The "intro" tape for the band was an endless "wall of noise/static". Finally the band appeared and played the first song, "Alone". Pretty soon I became overwhelmed by emotions and the sheer sensation of the Cure playing live in front of my eyes (and ears), tears were rolling down my face...

Highlights for me were: Kyoto Song (one I hadn't heard often!), A Night Like This, Last day of summer, At Night, Push, Burn.
Lowlight for me was "Shake dog shake" (not a bad song at all, just didn't work for me on this particular night).

During the instrumental intro of "And Nothing Is Forever", Robert moved his arms as if he were conducting an orchestra!

"From the edge of the deep green sea" was quite okay (I put earplugs in, pretty loud at this point), I liked the lightshow going along with this.

"Endsong" was another highlight, but I was sad, as this meant the end of the main set already (time flies when you see The Cure)!  :'(

Gotta say the first encore was very good, I was glad to hear "Cold", plus it's always nice to have a visit from Charlotte Sometimes!

The pop encore was enjoyable too (although I myself do prefer the "deep cuts"), especially "Just like heaven" (which must be one of the best pop songs ever) and it made me jump and dance (like "Push" did in the main set)!

All in all, a very good show; Robert still sings like his younger self, the band was in good shape and delivered. Meeting two old mates made this night even more special. :happy

I can confirm. I didn't know the group live before, but I have to admit that I was impressed by their 'performance' (in Geneva). :smth023

😄... these earplugs make real sense depending on where you stand. Serious.

Thanks for the review, felt the same way when I saw them in Riga, had the feeling of meeting an old friend after long time. I feel like The Cure is part of my family. And note aside, 'Alone' is for me their best track from the new album.
