(An engineer's guide to cats)

Not the most useful way to spend your time, but I can't help it, or rather, I WON'T help it: the cat yodeling is just...lovely.  :smth082

I saw that a few days ago! I sent my sister the link because I thought it was hilarious. Especially if you have cats, of course.

(I seem to be stalking you today. I'm harmless, really.)

Haha, sounds like fun. Come chase me across the forum!  ;)

Okay, another youtube video:

(Noel Fielding and Russell Brand, two comedians I had never heard of until a few days ago, when a friend sent me a video. They're funny in a silly, nonsensical way, very "beguiling" indeed. :D I love Russell's eloquent way of expressing himself, like a 19th century monarch at times. :-D)

one of my favorite films:

winged migration

i saw this on a big movie screen a few years ago and it's seriously one of the most intense movie experiences i've ever had. i don't know how they managed to film it all but it literally takes you up there in the sky, to fly among the birds - and all done without computer effects/CGI, it's all real footage.
there's very little spoken script in the film, as it relies on such breathtaking footage that there's no need to explain anything.
maybe the most beautiful movie ever made. i never was a kind of person who starts sobbing at the end of some romantic comedy, never ever... and people always say how they cry when they watch E.T. or Titanic or whatever it is they name. i never relate to that. but the first time i saw this i was in tears through most of it, simply because it was too beautiful and too powerful to see. and yeah, feel free to call me a wacko - i don't care, i love this film! - even on my little tv set. :)

My husband and I sooooo wanted to see this on the big screen, but it didn't stay around very long, and we missed it. We have it on VHS, but our VHS player went to the big VHS fields in the sky shortly after we bought the cassette. So I only got to see it once, and only on tv. But it was, as you say, extremely powerful, incredibly beautiful. I was so taken with it, it was like being under a spell. And as far as the "wacko" thing goes... just before Winged Migration came out, a friend of mine was at the movies; they were showing the trailer for this film, and she heard a woman saying "How stupid do you have to be to pay to watch birds fly around for two hours?" She told me that it really made her laugh, since at that very moment she was thinking that she'd like to go see it with me and my husband because she thought we might like it.
So, stupid wackos -- unite! And go to the movies. :-D

Well, I've been in the US for a while now, haven't posted anything since I left. The abstinence is starting to get to me...better post quickly:

My aunt showed me and my brother a couple of episodes of this show when we stayed over at her place. I've been looking for something like this show for years; it's clever, it's strange, it's imaginative, and it manages to (at times) scare the viewer with escalating suspense rather than yucky gore. Watch it if you haven't already. By the way, Schindler's List is one of my favorites. Good pick.

My name is Talking Tina, and you'd better be nice to me...

not watching a blockbuster movie (have seen The Dark Knight...wow!) but currently watching the Olympics...love to watch the people striving to not just win, but to finish. To partake, to enjoy and, if, on the day you are just that little bit better  than your competitor, to stand triumphant on the podium. To work so damned hard to get there, I salute all participants. I particularly love the equestrian events, such beautiful creatures, their riders tall and proud.
And watching it all on our new 106cm LCD full HD TV..it's freezing cold, pouring with rain, and I'm snuggled up on the couch... no doubt I will end up with square ( or rectangular!) eyes, but hey, it's only every 4 years!!

"happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me"!!

Oh yeah...Go Aussies!!!!!!!  :smth023

just remembered...seeing "The Young Ones" mentioned above, which I loved, I seem to recall The Cure playing on one episode..many, many years ago, but I'm pretty sure..
