fiction

The Swedish team taking on the Finish team in the icehockey tournament of the olympics. The Swedes are said to take a dive just to avoid the Russians or the Canadians in the quarter finals. Gee, I really hope they will not take a dive against the bad guys in the blue and white jerseys! The good guys in yellow jerseys just have to beat the Finish team and they are currently in the lead by one goal to nothing (score by Loui Eriksson).

If any of you guys out there are from Finland please don´t be offended. I have nothing against Finland and the Fins, this is just an icehockey issue.

Ad: 06.58 (Swedish time) 2 - 0 by Nicklas Bäckström!

Ad 2: 07.18 Sweden just managed six minutes in boxplay. Two of those minutes were five on three for the bad guys. Great game!

Ad 3: 07.21 3 - 0 by Loui Eriksson! This is so sweet!

Ad 4: 07.25 Pitkänen (bad team) got match penalty for a really stupid hit (cross checking right in the face on Patrik Hörnqvist, one of the good guys). Major penalty, five minutes.

End of second period

Ad 5: 08.12, end of the game. A rather dull third period where both teams seemed to be satisfied with the score. Both teams are through to the quarter finals.

Tired of the olympics I just watched "No Country for Old Men" again. It was the third time I saw it but the first time on dvd. It´s a nasty story but gee, is it well played?!

As are the Americans!  :)  A pretty stunning victory over the host team!

What does the mysterious disappearance of record-breaking aviator Steve Fossett have in common with Area 51? In September 2007, Fosset went missing somewhere over the Sierra Nevada mountain range, sparking the biggest peacetime search and rescue operation in the history of the United States. Over the ensuing days and weeks, reports would surface of dozens of other missing airplanes in a huge triangular area of California and Nevada. Could this mysterious region be another Bermuda Triangle?

Yes they are! Con Gratulations. On their jerseys the Americans have a small patch near their left shoulder. Is that an insignia from the 1980`s jersey of "The Miracle on Ice-team"?

It was an interesting episode with that Nevada Triangle. Never heard of it before. A rather laid back and somewhat cool comment was when one of the persons said "You can fly the wrong way, which is down in the ground" as a reply to the question in what way those winds play any part of this mystery.

besides, we can't be bad as we just beat SATAN himself (who sent the sweedes home).

lol, what a name.

anyway, we took the bronze and satan had to go home empty handed. :-D

(oh, we also took bronze in the women's hockey too - oh, by beating sweden. ;))

His name is actually pronounced like Sutan.  But yeah, I've always got a kick out of that surname.

As for the games, that 6-1 thrashing Team USA gave the Finns in the semis was pretty sweet.  Our ladies took home the silver.  Now let's see if the boys can squeak by the home team again for gold.

i've heard it's pronounced [sa:tan], with the first a being a long vowel. so it's differet thah in english, but in finnish that sounds almost like the word satan, lol.

yeah that was like "wtf?". that was a disaster, don't know what happened there. but hey it's just sport. :) i was actually just laughing when i watched it hehe, it was so funny, in a way. how everything can sometimes go totally wrong, just unbelievably so. haha
and hey, maybe the canucks will still kick your ass. :P
anyway, the most important thing is always to qualify higher than the sweedes do hehe - so, mission accomplished hehe ;)

anyway, if you compare the populations, i think it was quite great work for our team to finish up third:
USA over 300 million, finland a bit over 5 million. so population wise, it's like as if you'd have wisconsin alone representing the whole of your country (both finland and wisconsin have population around 5.3 million).
i wonder if wisconsin alone would have taken you to the final(?)

Perhaps, though it would be impossible to know that.  I mean if some players from that particular state had trained together for their entire lives.  Who knows?  But yeah, I get what you're saying.  Earlier I had mentioned to you the same thing with the Finns Snowboarding team, "The Finnish Mafia".   Three Finns qualified for the halfpipe, with one taking home a medal.  Again, a smaller talent pool there, yet several made it to the big show.  However, your guys can't hang with Shaun White and his "Whitesnake"  :P

Interesting take there, considering what they say:
