Useful information (Thanks danny999911!)
During your stay in London you may want to buy a zone 1 travelcard, which only lets you travel in central London, as it is a bit cheaper (£6.60). If you look at a tube map, you can see what zone stations are in, with central London being in zone 1, and stations further away being in increasing zones, up to 8. If you buy any type of ticket in London before 09:30am, it will be slightly more expensive (peak time).
If you are planning on making more than one tube journey, it is nearly always best to buy the travelcard, as a single tube fare is £4, and a bus is £2.20! (Unless you have an Oyster Card, but I assume not).
Where to stayThe closest (and cheapest) place near the RAH is the
London Earls Court - General, this place is just 20 minutes walking from the Royal Albert Hall (from £16.95 per person/day). Some Curefans.com members will stay there. Check their Website (http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/hostels/london-earls-court/index.aspx?hostelid=000150)
Jennifer from our Curefans Facebook is staying at easy Hostel in South Kensington (http://www.easyhotel.com/hotels/london_south_kensington.html). £40 for a double room. Not bad!
The cheapest hostel in London is the backpacker's Clink78 with beds from €10 per night. The hostel has positive reviews on hostelworld. To book, go to the hostel's website: http://www.clinkhostels.com/ (http://www.clinkhostels.com/)
BeWelcome (https://www.bewelcome.org/) is also an excellent alternative if you want to stay at someone's place in London
for free!.
The Cure tickets are on sale Friday 9amThe Cure are bringing their unique "REFLECTIONS" show to London on
Tuesday 15th November 2011 19h30.
First experienced this spring at the Vivid Festival in Sydney, it features the THREE IMAGINARY BOYS (1979), SEVENTEEN SECONDS (1980) and FAITH (1981) albums played live in their entirety.
The Cure are one of the worlds' most enduringly influential bands, and this is a rare and unique chance to hear how they became the voice of generations with three releases that etched them into the public consciousness.
"REFLECTIONS" features an evolving line up of band members past and present playing the first three Cure albums live in their entirety. From the punchy, offbeat, starkly adorned songs of THREE IMAGINARY BOYS (1979), through the increasingly shadowy and quixotic pieces of SEVENTEEN SECONDS (1980), to the singular melancholic grandeur of FAITH (1981), this is a truly extraordinary concert experience.

How many people fit in this venue?
"It was (the RAH) originally designed with a capacity for 8,000 people and has accommodated as many as 9,000 (although modern safety restrictions mean that the maximum permitted capacity is now 5,544 including standing in the Gallery)"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Albert_Hall
This will sell out in two minutes.
For those planning to go: are you planning to arrive in London one day before (on 14th November)? or do you plan to arrive during the weekend ? (Saturday 12th)?
I'll be at the London show! It's only half an hour away for me. The RAH is pretty small, but it's a lovely victorian venue built in 1871. It's where they hold the BBC Proms every year - these are broadcast around the world so people might know it from there?

Are you sure about that? The UK's still in the EU so as long as you're from an EU country you will need your passport, but not an extra visa. The UK Border Agency says 'Nationals of countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland have the right of free movement and residence in the UK'.

100% sure. UK belongs to the EU but did not sign the no-borders space (Schengen). And as I am Peruvian, I need to apply for a tourist visa, answer 103 questions (no kidding) and show lots of documents (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/out-of-country/documents-visitors.pdf). I know Peru is the first or second larger producer of marihuana, but does not means we all Peruvians carry some stuff in our bag :P

Oh I see, I assumed you were from Slovakia as that's where it says you live on your profile. But yes, if you have a Peruvian passport then you're right, you will need a visa.

I will go to Vienna on Tuesday to apply for the Visa (is just 1h away from here). Normally it shouldn't be a problem. Best of all is the day before I see And Also The Trees there, so I will "shot two birds from one shot" as we say ;)

I am so very very happy to hear this news. Again not much time as with Sydney for planning or thinking about it. All adds to the excitement & anticipation. I know how much all of you on the other side of the world were hoping that Reflections would happen nearer to you. Here you are my dear friends. It will be an emotional time organising tickets, transport, etc etc but................................
The event that you have a chance to experience is going to be magical, extraordinary, & very emotional. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it hehe. If you're able to, grab this with both hands & your hearts, it will stay with you all forever, a treasure for all time. My hopes are with you all for tickets, time off work, transport & everything else you need to organise leading up to this special night. You'll get the chance to feel like all of us did just a few short months ago.

Guys, can we discuss about this? It seems the first one is a good option (Tof was there already on 2006 -can you confirm, Tof?) About the time, best would be lunch time the 15th November, so around 12h00. This is just to try to be earlier in the venue and get as close as possible to the stage. Please let me know your thoughts.
If everything's OK I will arrive a day before the event, so hopefully I will have the chance to meet Lady and disintegration before :smth023

I don't understand why six shows in USA and one in Europe, it makes no sense :?
Hello guys,
Mel from theloudestcure.com reminds us that we should keep on eye on the RAH site as new tickets could be on sale. She says that something like this happened in 2006.
"Tickets may be sold out. More tickets may become available later, please check back for availability"
So check the site below from time to time!

and in 2006 the best tickets went on sale one or two weeks later
Looking forward to meeting you all in London!
Just post as soon as you decide when and where curefans' members will meet.
Cheers!
After talking to several members, the Curefans.com meeting have been set up 12h30 in The Queen Arms, this is because the concert starts 19h30 and many of us want to start the queue as early as possible to get to see the band closer. So if you are planning to come 12h30 please send me a message (http://curefans.com/emailuser/?sa=email;msg=74641) asap (we need to book a table).

Long time lurking member. Never posted anything I think. I was mainly over at the MFC forum back in the days and was known there as Jerbbiepooh.
I'm going to this show as well, but am still looking for tickets for a friend of mine. So if anyone, doesn't matter what kind of ticket you have, has one or knows one who has a spare one. Please contact me!

I know :-D Don't worry. My hotel is at the other side of Hyde Park,
2 min walk from Paddington Station (where I have every 15 min connection to Heathrow Airport)
35 min by feet to RAH and Queens Arms (1,5 Miles)
So I can sleep a little bit more ;) So I have rather the profit to be near the train the next day :-D

I'd like to hear Lament, exploding boys, jusk one kiss
i think robert said they'd play only songs of that era, so i guess the encores will be the same as sydney, no no post 81 songs. I could be wrong and the play other songs....
"Mint Car" and "Piggy And The Mirror" would make my day.

RS THOUGHTS ON RAH REFLECTIONS TICKET SALES [I WROTE THIS LAST WEEK, BUT DIDN'T POST IT... NOT REALLY SURE WHY I CHANGED MY MIND... SO ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE INFO MAY BE A LITTLE OUT OF DATE, THE ESSENCE REMAINS CURRENT] > I REALIZE THAT BY PLAYING A LIMITED NUMBER OF MORE INTIMATE VENUES THERE WILL INEVITABLY BE A NUMBER OF DISAPPOINTED FANS WHO CAN'T GET TICKETS TO OUR SHOWS - AS WAS THE CASE IN SYDNEY EARLIER THIS YEAR... BUT I ONLY WANT TO PLAY THE 'REFLECTIONS' SHOW A FEW MORE TIMES BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR IN VENUES SIMILAR TO THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE I CHOSE THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL IN LONDON, THE PANTAGES THEATRE IN LA AND THE BEACON THEATRE IN NYC BECAUSE THEY FEEL RIGHT THE TICKET PRICES REFLECT THE NATURE AND COST OF STAGING THE SHOW - THE HIGHEST PRICES ARE UNDOUBTEDLY EXPENSIVE, BUT I AGREED (AS I INVARIABLY DO WITH REGARDS CURE SHOWS) WHAT I FELT WAS A FAIR PRICING STRUCTURE WITH OUR AGENT AND PROMOTER... WE WILL BE PERFORMING AROUND 180 MINUTES OF MUSIC... AND SOME RAH TICKETS WERE MADE AVAILABLE FOR AS LITTLE AS £25...
I AM AWARE THAT SOME DISAPPOINTED FANS HAVE BEEN AIRING CONCERNS AT WHAT THEY SEE AS A CURE RAH SHOW "SOLD OUT TO TOUTS"... SO I PUT THESE CONCERNS TO OUR UK AGENT AND OUR UK PROMOTER (BEARING IN MIND THEIR CAVEAT "It's important that the public isn't made aware of the precise details of how the promoters and ticket agencies track down resellers, or this will just make them more careful and harder to locate" THE FOLLOWING ARE SELECTED EXTRACTS FROM THEIR FULL REPLIES TO ME) OUR AGENT WROTE:
- measures taken to limit touting / re-selling of tickets: only 'trusted' ticket agencies were used – companies who the promoter could rely on to go by the rules laid down for this show
- 3 outlets in addition to the RAH box office
- ticket purchase was restricted to 4 per person
- agents were instructed to check for touts and members of the public re-selling their tickets and to cancel tickets in those cases
- sales were restricted to on-line – no 'over-the-counter' sales (where touting is more of a problem)
to be as fair as possible to everyone, no pre sale was done – but even if there had been a pre sale the promoter suspects that there would still have been tickets being bought as a speculation and re-sold
so far around 60 tickets have been cancelled, and checks will be ongoing
- ticket re-selling is a major problem, but as you know our promoter has a reputation for being particularly diligent in this area and is doing everything physically possible to limit the scale of the problem - It is estimated that there are currently some 200 tickets being offered for resale – and some of those will be the same tickets being offered via different websites. Although high, that number is actually quite a small proportion of the total tickets sold – and quite a lot less than has been seen for other shows of a similar stature. The implication is that the vast majority of tickets have gone to real fans who will be happy to simply turn up and see the show.
- The measures put in place would have made it very hard for tickets to end up with anything other than members of the public - most of the tickets being advertised for resale are pairs of tickets, so the likelihood is that the resellers are mainly fans themselves – buying their 4 tickets in order to go to the show, and sell two others (perhaps covering the cost of their own tickets)
- Here's an example of one ad:
This is a ticket to see THE CURE's REFLECTIONS show at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday November 15th, where they'll be performing their first 3 classic albums in full. This ticket is for STALL L ROW 2 (centre stage side of the walkway), offering a fantastic view of the stage. I'm also selling one more ticket (see my other auctions) for the seat right next to this one, unfortunately I cannot list the exact seat numbers as there's a chance ticket agents will cancel these tickets, so please don't ask. I bought these tickets for 2 friends who sadly can't make it to the gig, so here's your chance to see The Cure play this one off UK show. As soon as I have the ticket in hand I will send it on a Royal Mail Pre-1pm Guaranteed Next Day service free of charge (UK buyers only).AND OUR PROMOTER WROTE: "The biggest problem we have nowadays is that the majority of the tickets touted are not being sold by professional touts - they are being sold by people who consider themselves genuine fans but who make it a point to buy the maximum number of tickets they can, and then look to make a bob or two by selling off the ones they don't plan to use".
PERSONALISED TICKETS AND/OR TICKETS TIED TO CREDIT CARDS/ID ON THE DOOR WERE NOT AN OPTION... OUR PROMOTER AGAIN: "It would not be feasible to have credit cards / ID checks on the door for every ticket - because of the capacity of the RAH, you'd never get that many people into the venue in time. We are able to do it for the Gallery because that's a relatively small number of people"
(AND TO BE ABSOLUTELY EVEN HANDED, THIS FURTHER COMMENT ON MY THOUGHTS!!! "In his "Thoughts", Robert has not touched on the fact that the show sold out in a nano second and was x50 times over subscribed before sold out notices went up!") HOWEVER, BASED ON THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF TICKETS ACTUALLY TURNING UP FOR RESALE, I AM REASONABLY SATISFIED THAT "The implication is that the vast majority of tickets have gone to real fans who will be happy to simply turn up and see the show."
IS A FAIR SUMMARY AS WE HAVE NOW FINALISED THE RAH PRODUCTION, A FEW HUNDRED "IN THE GODS" GALLERY STANDING TICKETS WILL SOON BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR £37.50 - THESE WILL BE THE LAST TICKETS TO BE SOLD - AND WE WILL BE SELLING THEM WITH THE 'SECURITY MEASURES' MENTIONED ABOVE IN PLACE... WE WILL THEN WAIT AND SEE IF ANY OF THESE TURN UP FOR RESALE! NEWS OF HOW AND WHEN THESE GALLERY TICKETS WILL BE PUT ONSALE WILL BE POSTED HERE AT www.thecure.com (http://www.thecure.com) SOMETIME VERY SOON... ONWARDS! RS
PS AND WHAT'S ALL THIS 'FINAL SHOWS' MUTTERING? THAT'S MY JOB!

Does anyone knows what's the cheapest way to go from London Luton Airport to the center of London?

Definitely the best way to get from Stansted is the Stansted Express train which runs into London Liverpool Street Station (where many tube lines call) - it runs every 15/30 minutes and tickets can be bought online or at the airport. A return is £29.50 (or £27.50 if bought online), and the train takes about 45 minutes.

Ha no, first tubes are around 5-5:30am, last ones are about 1-1:30am. If you really want to get about when the tube isn't running there's always night busses or taxis.

Hello,
I just booked a table in the Queens Arms for the 15th November 12h30 (I sent a private message to the persons who wanted to take part in this lunch). If you wish to be part of this table as well, please let me know as soon as possible, as the restaurant may receive more bookings and thus there won't be any more places available.
I know other Curefans.com members will arrive to this place later in the afternoon, the reason why we set up this earlier is because we plan to be very early in the queue at the Royal Albert Hall.
:smth023

It's amazing how easy a good quality recording is to do nowadays.
If you have an iPhone with Voice Recorder/Voice Memos just turn it on, stick it upside down in your top pocket and don't chat while the songs are on. The 40 mins of encores took about 20mb.

Yeah, and enjoy your ears bleeding from a crappy distorted recording.
Even the recording on Dime was made with really crap mics (but with a nice recorder). Well, a recording is only as good as its weakest link.
Stealth recording is not that hard, I'll admit... But it takes some time, patience, and a willingness to invest in some decent gear!
How can I work when my mind is still at the Royal Albert Hall?

Sometimes I dream ....
The Cure - Charlotte Sometimes London Royal Albert Hall 15 Nov. 11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot-P9FqaqJk&feature=youtube_gdata_player#ws)
Esta história de sonho (sim porque às vezes ainda penso nela como se de um sonho se tratasse, um sonho perfeito) começa no dia 30 de setembro de 2011 quando escrevo no www.curefans.com (http://www.curefans.com) o seguinte:
"Anyone has an extra ticket for a portuguese fan please?
tnx in advance
x"
Algum tempo depois, David Sánchez, o meu salvador, escreve o seguinte:
"Spare ticket for sale in the Standing area to just 160 EUR (normal price: 133 EUR).
If anyone is interested, send me a private message.
Old curefans.com members have priority for this offer."
E é neste momento que a sorte me sorri. Compro-lhe o bilhete logo a seguir faço este comentário no site:
"Thank you so much... iupiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
The Cure Reflections at Royal Albert Hall here I go.
Still dreaming... I think I'll wake up there!!!"
Tudo me corria às mil maravilhas.
This dream story (yes, sometimes I still think this was a dream, a perfect dream) began in September 30th, 2011 when i wrote this message in curefans.com:
"Anyone has an extra ticket for a portuguese fan please?
tnx in advance
x"
Sometime after, David Sánchez, my savior, writes:
"Spare ticket for sale in the Standing area to just 160 EUR (normal price: 133 EUR).
If anyone is interested, send me a private message.
Old curefans.com members have priority for this offer."
This is the moment when luck smiles back to me. I got the ticket:
"Thank you so much... iupiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
The Cure Reflections at Royal Albert Hall here I go.
Still dreaming... I think I'll wake up there!!!"
After this (and after getting back to Earth as I was for some moments in the clouds) I start planning my dream trip to London.
I only had to book the flight because in my mind there was no need to sleep, so no hotel needed (This would be a awaken dream journey). I booked the flight to 15th November (Day of the show) and I was getting back next day (in time to school). Everything was perfect.
Some days after, I decide to book some room in a Hostel nearby as I began to think tha was beeter to rest some hours before or after the show.
With the help of googlemaps and tube timetables I began to plan carefully all my travels to get there and get back home. Everything went just perfect.
We decided to meet in Queens Arms (local bar and near Royal Albert Hall) and this is where I met David and some CureFriends that I will never forget for the wonderfull time we share together.
We had lunch and rushed to Royal Albert Hall where there were already some fans at the door. We joined them and waited for the opening hour.
There was some mess when the doors open. I deliver my precious ticket and I got some pink bracelet instead.
We rushed to the stage and managed to get in second row in front of Simon bass... very good!!!
About the show, well I only can say... My 10th time was it!!!
Since I begin to attend The Cure shows I dreamed to see them performing these classic songs, and sometimes I got one, two,...
This time (My 10th The Cure Show) I got everything that in my wildest dreams I didn't dare to dream of...
This was, musically speaking, one of the happiest days/nights in my life!!!
And now it's been ten years of "Reflections"..
