Always London, had to Wembley...... i could see it coming... ah well.
Come play up north Robert, Blackpool Empress Ballroom. You were born there....
You have more fans up here.
Please ;)
Can't believe its Wembley Arena again..
Its such a god awful venue..
Only good thing about it is that I might do a tour of the new stadium while I'm down that way... :)
so... in how many minutes will this show sell out? 20? 30? :D
I hope I will be lucky enough to get the tickets... :)
why bloody wembley??????? why????????????? and only one uk gig :(
and how many gigs do they play in germany????
Hope that Wembley Arena isn't too bad. I will see :)
The Cure will play four Concerts in Germany.
I'm sorry, that they don't play more Concerts in the UK :(

Maybe they wouldn't bring so many people in the UK and that's why they prefer to play abroad?
However, I still don't know why the hell they don't play in Southamerica. Here the only venues where The Cure could play are stadiums for more than 50 000 persons because they have a LOT of fans here! I hope he publish something about soon

Thanks for your concern but I don't think in Peru it's about petitions. The taxes here are too high for such artists and until that does not change, it will be too dificult to make it. If you can, keep your fingers crossed for Peru, I think that's all we can do :(

20.03 London :-)
well, i dont believe the standing floor is sold out, it cant be possible. they're doing the same the did with RAH. Why ticketmaster doesnt allow international delivers with the standing tickets. i had one but it was impossible to by if you werent a british or ireland customer. Tah's very very unfair
I managed to get 2 standing tickets at 9AM :-D
Sold out - im not surprised...... though i wouldnt say its unfair that only people from the UK and Ireland could buy floor tickets seeing as though this is the ONLY confirmed UK date so far. Dont forget how many shows theyre doing in Germany.
It also said something about a show on the 19th, so i guess an added date is in the pipeline as this one sold out so quickly.
Anyway, im proper excited now! 8)
hello folks!
wembley DEFINITELY is not sold out!!! today i've bought 3 standing tickets at bookingsdirect.com so it's the same they did at the RAH show.
All gone again....
Ahhhhhhhh..
Hopefully it will be like the RAH show though.. I'll keep trying

typical for seetickets: they always receive everything so late - or well, at least tell everyone so because they never seem to bother sending any tickets in mail. they always repeat this "we have not received the tickets yet" just as an excuse.
one of the agencies i luckily won't ever have to use again, after having two annoying experiences with them.
It seems that seetickets is a little lame duck :)

That is a good article, thanks for sharing it... I would imagine seeing the Cure at Wembley will be an amazing experience.. Wembley being a well known and somewhat revered place to some of us here " down under".. and what better band to play there than our beloved Cure! sensational...
Does anyone know when they will be on stage? Around europe they've been on stage by 8:45pm, but not sure about this concert...
I think they will be on around 8 o clock (ish)
The doors open at 6.00 (according to info on the ticket)
Show starts at 6:45 (65 DoS)
Which means they would finish at around 7:15..
Leaving around 45 mins for setup and soundchecking.
When they played there in 2000 the concert went on until around 11:15 if I remember correctly :)
Hi everyone!
I've got a spare ticket for Wembley (but it is a seating one)
so if anyone cares about just p.m.
Thanks!

The curfew is 11 pm.
I know it's a bit late, but anyone left holding a spare ticket?
I'd like to try my luck at getting to this one after all.
Email from ticketmaster confirming support at 7 & The Cure on at 8. Keep finding more people going to this. Hopefully be a fitting end to this leg of the tour.
Ticket for sale.
Hi there. I realise this is late, but due to personal issues I have 1 (possibly 2) Standing Tickets for sale.
I am selling it at Face Value price (£35) and can either post out tomorrow Special Delivery (£4.00 postage), for delivery Thursday, or can give the ticket to my friend that is going to the concert, to meet up outside.
Due to the late nature of this, any payment for postal delivery would have to be done by PayPal
Please PM or mail me for any further details.

Ok, let me be the first to say that this is the worst "end of tour" setlist I've ever seen.
Not one surprise, nothing at all to set it apart from the rest of the shows.
They couldn't even play The Kiss or something?
I hope that those at the show had a great time. For those of us watching the setlist at home......well.... :smth011
Was the setlist this?

Does this surprise you? I mean when was the last time they played a good or memorable gig in London during a tour? I'd have to say 1992.
This is the first time I've followed a tour so closely, so yeah, I guess I expected something a little special. After looking at the other tours though, I see you're right.
2004 might have competition now for the worst tour ever award.
Not a bit excited for the US tour.
(( NEVER thought I would say that ))
Oh, I dunno. I watched the first half of the Milan show while having a few drinks, and I'm still pretty excited.
But....the only show I ever saw was in 2004, and that might have something to do with it.
Quote from: crowbi_wan on March 21, 2008, 00:34:51Does this surprise you? I mean when was the last time they played a good or memorable gig in London during a tour? I'd have to say 1992.
But the last time they ended a tour in London was 1992. So I'd assume they would at least do SOMETHING different to close it out.
This setlist is actually less interesting than the first show of the tour. Virtually the same, but without The Kiss and How Beautiful You Are. That makes it a downgrade for me.
Might have been a great performance, but it just doesn't give me a good feeling about the U.S. tour, unless the new album does actually happen to come out by then.
Especially when you consider The Cure's history of playing darker sets in Europe and poppier sets in the US. (Swing Tour, Prayer Tour, Wish Tour, etc.)
I'll enjoy it regardless, because it'll be my first time seeing The Cure. But I'm definitely disheartened by the crap London setlist. I was SURE they'd do a Faith encore tonight. :smth011
It was a good gig but I thought the set list as a whole and some of the songs didn't work.
Hot Hot Hot was really poor, as was WCIBU and Never Enough.
There seemed to be a lot of very old fans (i'm 31!) and lots of ladies near me. Most of them didn't show any enthusiasm until Friday I'm In Love.
I would like to have seen some more Faith/Pornography tracks + the Kiss, How Beautiful You Are, If Only Tonight but you can't have everything!
I really enjoyed it - thought the encores were great. And now off to bed.

I was sure too... I expected a setlist more special, 'cos it's the last show of European tour, 'cos the venue is Wembley Arena, 'cos it's the only date in England...
In my opinion from 2004 they are more close to U.S. (they have signed a contract with Geffen) and Europe isn't so important like in past years.
i really can't understand what's happening with them.
this is really a disappointing setlist, because , as gioez said, there were a lot of "special" things yesterday night.
but "they went away with nothing" more than the same setlist they played over and over again this tour.
i really hope the best for the American leg,
but at the moment, i really can't see how this could be better...the only thing could be the album released though, it's been 3 years with the same songs.
and i'm not criticizing their perfomance, because they were EXCELLENT... but some surprises and some "changes" in the setlists would be appreciated... they've never been like this.
so static.
are they still promoting the 4 lineup??????????? wasn't the 2005 Festival tour supposed to be for that matter?
does anybody have any news on Porl, he seemed to collapse during WCIBY and there was a lot of concern for him especially from Simon and Porls guitar tech, he managed to carry on for the rest of the show but did not look well or comfortable and Simon kept looking over to him in a very concerned way. I was right at the front, centre stage and he really did not look good from that point onwards :(

I don't know how much difference this makes. I mean, they were heavily tied in with Elektra during the '80s and '90s.
As for the U.S. tour, I doubt it could be any more "poppy" than some of the stuff we've already seen â€" unless they start adding some different pop songs. Actually, I don't think I'd complain since it would be a change of pace!
I really have nothing against these kinds of songs, except that they've been played to the point where it's just like a cliché anymore.
The setlist may have been a bit boring but it was an amazing show (at least is was for me seeing as it was my 2nd cure concert).
The crowd was a bit sleepy until Lullaby but things still didnt get really crazy until the encores. I was shocked at the amount of people who went to get drinks during the new songs especially A Boy I Never Knew. Most of the songs were fantastic - WCIBU was a bit weird though - A Forest was brilliant and Friday was lots of fun!
I think some of the English crowd were too shy to dance or something but what made it really excellent for me were the guys "sat" behind me. They took it upon themselves to conduct everyone when to sing and tried to get everyone to dance! It still puzzled me how people could just sit and yawn through One Hundred Years and Disintegration... :?
The seventeen seconds encore was my favourite, it was just amazing and people started to loosen up a bit but the pop encore sent them in to a frenzy!! Many seated people made a dancefloor at the bottom of the seats and were running, jumping, spinning(?) all over the place.
There was a real mix of people, like quite old and then kids of about 8!!!
Thats all i can remember at the moment... not sure what time i got to bed...
@boneheadhaggar I noticed Porl didn't look too good, i hope he's okay.
Oh and Roberts excuse for not talking much was that he can't speak english!

In Oberhausen he was very in hurry for leaving the stage. After the second encore he left verz quickly, and after Killing an arab he left, thought the rest of the members still stayed on the stage.
Maybe it is time to try more comfortable shoes, Porl?
(I kid...I do hope he is ok; sounds like these long shows are wearing him out, poor guy!)
if i remember correctly i never saw porl hanging around on stage (on this tour), i think he always walked away fast, right after the set was done.
so i wonder if london was really any different then, and does that have to "mean" anything at all(?)
Yes, poor Porl!
It was extremely hot in the arena by the time they got to the encores... a couple of 'standing' fans at the front, pressed right up by the barriers, had to be pulled out, and the security guys were handing out big cups of water to those right at the front.
Perhaps Porl got a bit overheated? I did notice that it looked like he'd taken a top layer of clothing off when he came back out again... Must be awfully hot dancing about for over 3 hours, in those big boots and heavy kilt!
Me and my hubby were probably some of the oldest ones there, but we had a great night, and the group rocked.
I thought it was especially touching at the end - the other three all went off stage, but Robert stayed there alone for quite a few minutes. Just smiling at the crowd and holding his hand to his heart. He walked over like that to every corner of the stage. I thought that was very 'heartfelt', actually, like he was saying thanks to us all for being there and supporting them.
Sure, maybe the set list was a bit lame in places, and sure, maybe they could have played this or that, instead of the other, but we really enjoyed it. There was a grey-haired lady in the next row to us, and she was really bopping and enjoying herself. Fun!
I know a lot of the pop hits don't sound so great the way they're played now in 2008, but the majority of the crowd really lapped it up. Let's face it - The Cure have got 30 years of music to cover, and they can't play every single thing they've ever done. I think they've tried to play something to please everyone. But here's always someone who'll complain, I guess.
There was a young couple sat behind me, actually, who were being very annoying. The guy was talking very loudly to his girlfriend all the way through the concert, so loud that I could hear every word right in my ear, and it was mostly all negative. All night... As far as he was concerned, everything was 'awful'.
As far as I was concerned, I'd paid good money to listen to my favourite band, and it had cost me a lot of money to travel all the way from Norway to do it, and I certainly hadn't paid to listen to his loud, negative, running commentary for three hours. Yeah, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but was that really necessary? It almost spoiled the show for me.
But what made the show for me, was that the band looked like they were having a good time themselves. Robert looked very relaxed, and was interacting with the audience a fair bit.
I've been a fan since 1978, and I feel very honoured to have been there last night... I'm back home in Norway now, and it all feels like a dream. :D

So, just like in 82 then right.
The setlists then were't really that varied TBH.
In addition, given the fact that the audience were largely "asleep" I am not surprised that the encores didn't roll on for longer.
Let's face it. If you were on stage playing to a pretty dead crowd who stopped shouting for an encore after less than 30 seconds, then would you come back & give them something special?
I wouldn't.
Concerts are a 2 way thing & people can't just rock up & "expect" to have all the songs they want to be played.
The band has to have something to bounce off & that is what makes a great show. Band & audience synergising.
FACT!
So, don't blame Bob & the boys. They blew our socks off on Thursday, but the crowd were generally unresponsive.
If I was BOB Smith, I don't think I would have even come back on for E3.
