Robert Smith and Jason Cooper have both submitted an original piece of artwork to the Heart Research UK Anonymous heART Project.

Their pieces will be auctioned on eBay from now until the 13th October to raise money to take on heart disease.

Check out the pieces here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/heartresearchuk_shop

We've sent out hundreds of our A5 postcards to artists, celebrities, high profile names and our creative supporters, and we've had some fantastic artwork back.

The twist? Though the list of artists was available to all bidders, the artist of each individual piece is kept anonymous. You won't know whose artwork you've bought until it's delivered.

Let the guessing games begin ... will you get a Robert Smith or Jason Cooper?

Everything raised in the auction will be invested in pioneering medical heart research, making hearts healthier in local communities, masterclassses for clinicians and driving innovative education in schools.

Yep! :) Picking that one out of the line-up was straightforward - it's not exactly disguised.  The simplicity of that piece is really appealing - everyone sees things through their own eyes and therefore not the same, but I see a balloon going up, and I think it's clever how the balloon string looks like a trail of blood.  Lots of metaphor here.

I'd also like to comment on this one:

...because no matter whose work this is, it really leapt out at me.  I think it's lovely.  It's a piece that says, "Don't judge the wrapping paper, the exteriors, look at the heart."  It's not a message you hear very often in our society, but it's true - unlike the lies we are sold.  I think it's ironic that only one person has bid on it, at the price of a cup of coffee.  It's also beautifully executed, but apparently people prefer depictions of eye candy, or to pick up potential financial investments.

It's a wonderful piece.  It says, "When you truly love, you love the person for who they are, not for what they look like."  ...and we're all going to that point, where we are no longer in our physical primes, but it doesn't have to be like a funeral.

I'd like to quote from one of my favourite sources on this topic:

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Oh and.... the identities of the artist and the subject shouldn't really matter.  The point is, someone either constructed or commissioned an honest portrait of a person they love, and the piece says, "You are loved.  Because."

Oooh look! Five more people bid on it now!  Still unbelievably low pricing for the quality of this thing, both in the care and execution, and in the wonderful message contained in it.

Wow, that is pretty cool! At first I was struck by how it looks exactly like Jason's eye, then I looked at the close-up pictures and was thoroughly impressed! Each dot is so precise with the colouring... cool as
I wonder how long it would take to create it, it's so intricate
