If you wondered what Porl was doing musically after he left The Cure in 1978, then go to http://www.myspace.com/mysteryplane and listen to the track 'Oh!'. Porl worked with Mystery Plane's Mark Harvey and Gerald O'Connell (subsequently Lives of Angels) for more than 6 months on a Mystery Plane project called 3D5, even doing a number of gigs in the London area. More tracks from the Mystery Plane 3D5 era, featuring Porl, will be made available at http://www.myspace.com/mysteryplane in the future....

We don't think this track has ever been in the public domain before, so do enjoy a true rarity!

Fatter than Bob, balder than Porl, as sober as Simon, as amusing as Jason

I guess we have to do our own research... or ask directly to Porl :)

How can we be sure this is the truth?!

To help you decide, we just uploaded a photo of the 3D5 version of Mystery Plane taken in 1979. Just click on View My Pics @ http://www.myspace.com/mysteryplane

Porl has a very distinct style, and it was probably even more distinct way back then.

Just listen to the Easy Cure, Cult Heroes, and even some of the very early Cure stuff like the I'm Cold and Meathook demos, and it's never hard to guess who's playing what there — with the fast quasi-heavy metal riffing. That's probably one of the reasons he left the band, because that was obviously not compatible with the minimalistic sound of the first studio albums.

So I'd imagine it would be much more of the same with this Mystery Plane project. Anyway, certainly something to look forward to.  :D
