They are hi tecs. He takes the labels off. I have pictures from their old catalog if anyone is interested.
Hey,agreed on the Hi-Tecs! Thank god someone else thinks so too! He had white ones with red trimming on sole and others with blue. I had them myself!! Now to ID those black ones!! :) I'd love any pics you have....you mentioned a catalogue? I'm Dave by the way!
Hey Dave, yeah my friend and I were on the hunt for a long time. The black ones are also hi tecs.
Look at the picture of the soles on the ones he's wearing in the picture from wish. Then the one I'm holding up are another pair of old Hi Tecs.
Dave, here are more pics if you're interested. Also if you visit the Hi-Tec UK Facebook page you'll see a post they put up for me trying to get them to relaunch this line of sneakers. We're trying to gather some support if you're interested!
If you look at the soles again on his shoes compared to the catalog images you see that they match.

Think like you he somehow changed the colour of a white pair to black because the Jets seem different to his and the finish isn't as shine yams Roberts. Also you'll see in '92 on Wish tour how the black colour on the tongues is really wearing off-more likely to happen if they were somehow 'painted' !
