i guess, maybe the best possible thing would be a soundboard leak of those Wembeley and Zenith nights

I choose the ' PARIS' because I attended the 3 Parisian concerts of the group.... and I find that this recording transmits the environment which had at the time of these evenings.....

Trilogy, no doubt!
The others are very good concerts, with very good setlists, but trilogy is absolutely fantastic!

TRILOGY

TIGHTEST AND MOST PERFECT CURE CONCERT I EVER HEARD!!!

:smth023
Fatter than Bob, balder than Porl, as sober as Simon, as amusing as Jason

Bloodflower

I adore TRILOGY, don't get me wrong, but THE SAME DEEP WATER AS YOU is ruined for me, because Robert's voice just can't manage it anymore. Or maybe he doesn't want to sing it the way he used to. Or.... PLAINSONG hurts me too.
Another Curefan for The Dark Christmas album.

there's surely a certain special kind fo majesty on trilogy that one cannot find on other live dvds/videos, for instance on 2005 festival dvd. in this respect, it's a well-done production.
and yet, it's so badly mixed (well that's something in common with the festival dvd - he)

i have a special place in my heart for a few tracks on trilogy, maybe the most for 'homesick'. but i can't remember when i bothered watching all through it last time - probably never. :P
i do tend to skip a LOT of songs if i start watching it. my top three selection might be 'a short term effect', 'fascination street' and 'homesick' - after those i sometimes might call it a day....
2002 was a great year but what comes to my favorites simply in terms of performance, i actually do prefer some TV broadcasts/even some audience filmed stuff from other shows over 'trilogy'. for instance, the MCM Tv broadcast for carhaix 2002 - maybe one of my all time favorite videos. too bad they didn't broadcast any more songs!

The entire Pornography set is great. Right out of the gates, 100 Years just explodes, and yes A Short Term Effect is pretty kickass as well. I think I'll have to put that on right now, when I do dishes/cook. I especially like the "See you in seven years" at the end of it...

As for the other sets, I think I watched the Disintegration set once or twice start-to-finish.

The Bloodflowers set, seeing it played in its entirety, is what really made the album "click" in my head, and I've liked it ever since. As I said in another thread, it wasn't until after Trilogy that I really got to like the album. (I still think the title is lame, but whatever.)

edit: Watching the Pornography set now. Still love it. The Hanging Garden is great. Especially the simple little keyboard bits... The heavy chord at the start of each stanza (well, verse or chorus), and the noodling about in the background...

I don't know why they didn't put the Trilogy out as a 3CD set. Or better, a 4CD set, with all of the non-Trilogy songs played in the encores and on November 9th.

Dillinger

it really felt like festival was just knocked or some quick cash before christmas when i watched, ive never watched all the way through just in parts.

MY POINT WAS THAT ON TRILOGY YOU HAVE THE BEST LINE UP THE CURE EVER HAD AND THE FACT IS I DONT BELIVE THEY WILL EVER GET THAT GOOD!!!

ROBERT
SIMON
ROGER
PERRY
JASON

THATS THE CURE FOR ME!

ps

there, I said it!

if they had kept roger then i think the current line up would be best, i dont really get the jason hate.

for me: please no more roger thank you very much  - please, no more tambourines!!  :x
roger never really fit into the band: he's surely not a bad musician but his style is clearly not what the classic cure keyboard style is/craves.

Same here. Sometimes I do catch myself thinking of him as "the new guy" -- but he's been in the band for ~12 years!

I think the only problem with Jason is that he's not Boris -- then again, no one is Boris.. Other than that, I think he's just great.
