"The Cure's Robert Smith has contributed a cover of Kathryn Beaumont's "Very Good Advice" from Disney's original animated version of Alice in Wonderland. Kind of exciting, no?"

Sure, it's interesting. Probably not enough to get me to buy the album, though.

I wouldn't ever watch anything else, for any movie. I'm glad we don't have movies dubbed here, it would drive me mad. I can't understand how actors can take it, someone else babbling over their performance. It's like ruining half of their work, substituting it with someone else's interpretation.
Anyway, it's a nice cast: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/ (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/)
Helena Bonham-Carter, Crispin Clover, Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Alan Rickman..
and Christopher Lee as the jabberwock. :P
I'm slightly afraid of Robert's cover version though. Ha

Robert duets with Anik Jean
Looks like one of Robert's recent collaborations has been revealed. According to 7Jours, Robert is doing a duet with Canadian singer Anik Jean on her upcoming album to be released in April. The song is Jaurai tout essayé (I shall have tried everything), with lyrics in English and French, comparing love and disenchantment. Looks like Earl Slick will be involved as well. (Thanks Jacques)

No.
i am hoping that not everything will be played during the movie and that it just comes with the 'soundtrack'
otherwise i am always open for a positive surprise and won't say anything until i have actually heard it...
I'll probably just buy the one song off of iTunes.

Wow, I love this cover. Somehow remember me to Siouxsie and the Banshees, "Face to Face"? Great cover, well done Bob! :smth023
The "music" doesn't matter for this song, it's apt for a Burton film, it's a great vocal, reminds me of some of the fantastic b-sides from the '80s!
I love this sog even more now. His voice is amazing! Thank you for the link :smth020

Finally we can listen to his voice again... :smth055
Heard it the other day & love it! :-D
Can't wait to hear Franz Ferdinand's song either(my 2nd fav band ;))
I think it's quite unremarkable song. I admire that it reminded me of The Top or HOTD b-sides, but still, it doesn't get into my ear...

It reminds me of no Cure stuff at all. It sounds like Robert Smith singing a typical "showtune" accompanied by a bit electronic stuff in the background.
Not exceptional, but okay to my ears.

I was reading on Facebook that there is no Robert Smith song "Very Good Advice" in the whole movie
hmmm Tim Burton :D - Johnny Depp :D - no Robert Smith :( - but still worth to see it I think ;)
Just saw the movie, it was great! Tim Burton always delivers :smth023 I also just got the soundtrack, its nice to hear Robert's voice so clear and crisp. :smth020
If anyone else saw the movie, did anyone catch what the Mad Hatter whispered to Alice at the end? I didn't quite understand it....

Coming sunday I go to watch it, I will let you know ;)
i kind of like the arrangement of the song quite a lot, all the weirdness and funny sounds there. strangely, the thing i like the least is robert's vocal performance. i think it would be even better if he didn't try so hard too, if he just sang the song.
I agree entirely
Unfortunately I've come to expect this 'style' of over singing Cure recording wise over the last while.
I was pleasantly surpised I also enjoyed this film - the 1st Burton film I've liked for years.
