News from reliable sources / The Cure 'Paris' re-issued
Last post by dsanchez - March 30, 2024, 13:13:01
The legendary 'Paris' live album was re-issued last week:

I personally consider this to be The Cure at the peak of their career, and the mixing of this recording is incredible. My favorite live recording sound-wise perhaps

Quote from: MeltingMan on March 30, 2024, 09:33:57This week there were two accidents involving long-distance buses on German roads, which is unusual. Even in city buses, as was the case in the former GDR, it was not allowed to talk to the driver while driving. Many, if not all, buses had the Q emblem on the entry side. This meant that the driver had to be trained and demonstrate his skills. So as a passenger you were on the safe side, and that's how it should be. That was before...  :frowning:

sorry to hear, just saw the news

I'm currently reading №14 from the Unichamp-Essentiel series. The author presents a wealth of names and numbers. The printing errors are no less numerous. For a specialist or textbook there are too many.  :1f636:  For example, on p. 95 third column:

Björnson (not Bjornson), Hellberg (not Helberg), Strindberg (not Strinberg) etc.

retentissement (not retenitssement) p. 61 fourth column

Some of the footnotes/punctuation marks are also not assigned correctly, wrong or are even missing (see pages 18, 42). The book itself interested me, but I'm about to put it aside.

Something else / Re: Russia attacks Ukraine
Last post by MeltingMan - March 24, 2024, 09:06:30
I do not believe in an entanglement of Ukraine when attacking in Krasnogorsk. But memories become awake ...

Quote from: WikipediaAt the hostage-taking in the Moscow Dubrowka Theater on October 23, 2002, 40 to 50 armed people, who even attributed themselves to the separatist movement of Chechnya, made 850 people into their violence and asked for the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Chechnya.

After the hostage-taking in Moscow had already lasted two and a half days, special units of the Russian domestic intelligence company FSB pumped a gas mix of Carfentanyl and Remifentanil [1] into the ventilation system of the theater and stormed the building minutes later. The anesthetized terrorists were killed by the special units by head shots. 130 hostages died, 5 by the hostage-takers, 125 due to inadequate medical treatment from the consequences of gas use. You're in a time machine too?  ;)
That's the first DM album I bought back in late '84!
