Just curious to get impressions of the new DM album.
Mine is that this is what should have followed Violator.  I've never completely warmed to Songs Of Faith And Devotion, Ultra or Exciter but Playing The Angel has just overcome me.  I can't stop listening to it.  I will say the the lack of real guitar and drums has made this more of a classic type of DM album, sort of a back to basics for them.  Lets see what you think.

boooooring!

i'm really disappointed! the first songs till "precious" are okay but the rest is so boring. after 'exciter' another disappointment by dm. but i have to admit: i'm not a die hard-fan so i don't really care about it! i don't like their stuff before 'music for the masses'. 'sofad' is a great album (with exceptions) but 'ultra' is in my opinion their best work.
anyway! i'm glad i didn't spend so much money for a ticket...

I must say it's no good or bad album , it's a good quality album with some good songs but not more then that.
I was expecting more from this guys .
It will not be my favourite depeche Mode album !!!!

i agree. personally i wish they had stopped after sofad - i think that sofad has some of the best dm tracks ever (like walking in my shoes), but strangely also some of the most terrible of all time
(like condemnation :smt073)

but anyway, i too wasn't expecting much now because exciter was so utterly boooring

and even the back sleeve photo is so awful (not that it matters anyway but still...) - but maybe it's been put there as a WARNING! sign or something ;-)
