with all respect to every other artist,  bowie was the greatest of this century.
I just remember when he shook my hand at teatro brancaccio in rome, maybe 1992.

riposi in pace.

Nice tribute by Brian Eno, also makes me a bit sad...

Quote
“I received an email from him seven days ago. It was as funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did. It ended with this sentence: ‘Thank you for our good times, brian. they will never rot’. And it was signed ‘Dawn’.

“I realise now he was saying goodbye.”

I read it, it was very sad to read that indeed.

I wonder if Robert will say anything. In any case, here's an old interview:

I wonder if Robert will say anything. In any case, here's an old interview: [YouTube]

Reeves Gabrels has, on Twitter:

Well done, my friend. The world has the music. What I remember most is the laughing.

Siouxsie Sioux on Twitter:

I've been in a total daze all day not believing the very sad news.
Bowie was life-changing and groundbreaking.
I just want to say a huge thank you to the one and only Starman.
Love Siouxsie

She looks pretty gutted.

I don't know wether Robert will find enough strength to say anything soon.
Listening to and watching the Lazarus video must've been close to overkill, and that, even before the news of his death.

Severin, the same, probably even worse than Robert (Severin is from Bromley, and he has a friend who lived two doors next to David Bowie's, and the Banshees were as good as born in that house).
And you know Severin's unwell.

Lol Tolhurst on Twitter:

RIP. David Bowie: "Low" was the genius soundtrack to my youth. Thank you.

Tim Pope on Twitter:

RIP Guv - thanks for providing the backdrop to my teenage years. Here's me straightening your gnashers.

Wonder if Robert's ever said anything on Heroes (the album), just cause it's my favorite. A consummate post punk masterpiece.

Dunno, but he said he got his inspiration for Seventeen Seconds from Nick Drake and Bowie's Low.
But Low and its follow-up Heroes are very similar in sound, so I guess he also liked it.

Yes and no... The first part of Heroes (Beauty And the Beast, Joe the Lion, Blackout) has a jarring, abrasive edge unlike anything on Low, thanks in part to Fripp's guitar.
