Hi all, I'm from Melbourne Australia 😃
Saying hi and introducing myself ...

My love of The Cure started as a slowburn, being aware of them for many years and knowing the hit songs. During my teens I was leaning more towards stuff like Nirvana and NIN. The Cure seemed a bit too pop for me at that time (though had no idea about Faith and Pornography ...that may have changed my mind back then!).  A while later my tastes changed (perhaps my teen angst was mellowing), and was much more into Pink Floyd and David Bowie.  Then when I was about 20 I think two things brought The Cure more within my radar: Earthling by David Bowie (which RS makes an appearance on) and stumbling upon a second-hand cassette of The Head On The Door which I bought and listened to on my car tape-deck so many times I dare not try guess.  Over the years I gradually explored the rest of their albums, and have felt such gratitude and joy for what they have created.
It was about 10 years later that I saw them live for the first time, at the Reflections shows in Sydney. I even met them! Twice! (Once at 3am with a small group at the hotel entrance, and the next day at the airport.  ...I was a complete dork who couldn't hide how innocently smitten I was towards RS!). I can't quite put into words the experience of this, or how it effected me afterwards but it was profound (or maybe it was the recreational THC use and spontaneous kundalini rising that my nervous system wasn't prepared for?!) ...anyway, it seemed at the time to be a catalyst for drastic shifts in my life ...in a highly challenging yet ultimately heart-opening and enlightening way.

To see them again during the 2016 Australian tour was out of this world :)

...oh, and I'm still a dork, who feels innocently smitten towards RS!!

Erm, first time I hear about that! I don't think Robert is on the album? But he did perform one of the songs together with Bowie at his 50th birthday "party" at MSG.
Here is a video; RS seems to have fun playing with that other guitarist - wonder which band he does play in nowadays...? ;)

...yes of course you are right!  ...funny story to it actually, where (I shouldn't admit this!) in the early 2000s I would download albums from the Pirate Bay ...(a terrible thing to admit, but I did later (usually) buy the albums that I loved). Anyway a couple of albums I downloaded had the album slightly changed (maybe the uploader thought it was better this way?). One change was that on Earthling the live version with RS replaces the album version.  So for ages I thought it was actually on the album (and even occasionally forget it wasn't, like I've done here).  It happens also with the album Hours, where an (amazing!) live version of Something in the Air replaces the album version of the track...  In that case I love the live version of that song so much that I find myself preferring the adjusted album than the real one!
...anyway, long story short ...yes you are of course right, RS of course is not on the Earthling album (though for ages I thought he was!)

Hey, that's okay, it's just like I did with the cassette tapes I recorded from vinyl albums in the 80s.
Later I did buy many of the albums...  :smth020

Hahaha all here with one common purpose! However, I won't speak on my smitten, pretty certain it's against the law and would sound like Stephen King's misery  :D :D
