I was looking in a topic and i saw ppl talking about Show and In Orange and I was wondering what everyones favourite live album is. Mine is probabaly Paris because of the amazing versions of Figurehead, Lovesong, Catch, A Letter to Elise, Charlotte Sometimes, and Close to Me that i actually like more than the studio versions

Wow... too tough to tell. Today, it's Show/Paris (I count them as one and the same... two parts of a whole). Then again, I love them all... although "Concert" probably gets the least play. The best parts of Show are the guitar-centric tracks, where you have an electric, an acoustic (or another electric), and the baritone guitar... and then of course the bass. Unstuck, Cut and Never Enough stand out...

...even if Porl is WAAAAY too low in the mix.

But please, since videos/DVDs are also considered here then let's include Live In Japan 1984 too !

i might be the only person that really does prefer 'live in japan' over 'in orange' - i admit i've probably watched 'in orange' shamelessly little. it never really managed to compel me quite that much as it did many others. but i've watched 'live in japan' quite a lot... even in the old days when i had nothing but that horrendous, awfully generated, almost unwatchable vhs copy of it. :P anyway, i always liked the atmosphere of that video a lot.

but it's a though question indeed: i've probably seen 'show' too many times by now to be able to rightfully appreciate and/or compare it with the others. 'paris' was always one of my favorites though, maybe listened to it more than 'show'.
'entreat' would be great if it wasn't that short...
hmm....

Entreat, because every song on it is played wonderfully.

I would shit myself if they ever released the three nights at Wembley in '89.

How 'bout it, Robert?

I guess we're talking "official live albims" here?
I would go for Entreat, as I was there, so it is a great memory for me.
I saw an internet petition a while back for releasing the 3rd night officially.
It's obviously been committed to tape somewhere, so to have that little beauty see the light of day would be something to be more than happy about.
Ho hum.
Maybe they'll surprise us when the Disintegration re-master comes to fruition..... ;)

i don't want to sound overly pessimistic/negative but i'd be really disppointed if they decide to put a few tracks from wembley soundboard on the 'disintegration' remaster, just like those few tracks on the KMKMKM remaster -  that's just so annoying. they are there just to let us all know that they have the tapes but still they are throwing us these teasers only... gggrrr! :smth011
well i have rather little faith left that the wembley sounboard will ever be released officially. and so i actually hope there will be no live tracks at all on the 'disintegration' remaster.
so @robert: please put in some demos & outtakes only will you? i just can't take these "one track from here and a couple from there" sort of compilations...!

I think it would be worthwhile to recirculate the Wembley petition -- it's been a long time since it was really well-known. Perhaps resubmit it to CoF, that newer fans might sign?

Re-submitted here & on ceho.

Entreat for me too, totally agree about the 3 or 4 live tracks tacked on at the end of the reissues, would much rather they stuck to demos and outtakes and then released official live CD's like many other bands have done in the past :rocker
its nice to be nice

the only ones i have at the moment are concert, orange, play out (which isnt really a live album) (thanks to david for orange and play out  :-D) and festival. il pick the rest up after ive gotten faith, wish and the cure and join the dots. ive slowed down my buying so i wont have to wait as long for new cure materials before a new album, wish is next i think

... ok since this thread is starting to overlap some previous thread here, so please check this one first and we'll avoid unnecessary repeating of ourselves:

(yes it's a bit long but please read on until page 2)

because: how could their ever reissue paris or entreat "with full concert sets" when both were already compilations from several nights  (three shows on wembley '89, three shows in paris '92) - and all those nights had different set lists!
please read the discussion in the thread above - i'll also save some time typing it again! ;)

no idc its fine... What i meant by full sets is just like all the different songs played arranged like one concert. like what they did with festival 2005 only with 3 concerts instead of 8

japanesebaby

ok sure, i see what you mean.
anyway, i wouldn't like any more compilations than necessary. i'd rather have one complete gig instead if i could choose - even though it might have it's ups and downs there. but in this case i think i'd prefer and appreciate the authenticity of it.
for instance, since everyone's been wishing for the band to release the 3rd night of wembley (with the ever on-going petition and everything) then i'd be pretty annoyed if they choose to put out some compilation instead, that some sort of "super wembley show" with all the best tracks and greatest takes etc. hey that would be really mean!  :smth011
