Years agooo i had an incredible boot from around the 'swing era. I remember i had it named under Berlin. Not sure if thats correct, but here's the tick. The drums on this boot were amazing. Its obviously not Coop. I have yet to ever hear a boot of coop sounding this precise and quick. It was great. Does anyone know if Boris might have played a show during this time? Perhaps just one night?? If anyone has any clue to what im babbling about feel free to enlighten me or make me feel foolish. Thanks Guys/Gals.  :smth100

not sure which recording you are remembering here, it's been a long time since i listened to any WMS live recordings.
but no, i don't think boris was on stage on swing tour. i think it would have been noticed/known if he (or anyone else other than mr cooper) would have played a note.
a tempting idea, that he would have been though... as WMS was actually a very good tour, especially robert was in very good form vocally.

Two shows come to mind where Jason had a much "bigger" drum sound than normal:

http://www.cure-concerts.de/concerts/1998-07-19.php

And it did help him sound like less of a "wimpy" drummer. Both are commonly available in FM/soundboard versions. I can't recall any actual 1996 shows like that.

But no, no one but Jason has played any actual Cure shows since Boris left the band in 1993.  :smth011

Or were you perhaps thinking of Boris' last show?

You've got me curious now!

could be totally irrelevant, but now i wonder if that has something to do with both being festival settings(?). he always tends to have that "wimpier" sound in their own shows.

That's just sad, I really can't count that.

That and the acoustic Greatest Hits seemed so degrading for Boris. I wonder what was going through his head, with Jason doing his typical mediocre drumming and Boris just shaking a maraca or something.  :smth011

Sure, it's sad.  However, it was his last show with the band.  ;)  Hopefully it won't be his last, though.  Come on Robert, it's time for someone to get his walking papers!
