Just wonder if that is even possible - start touring without releasing at least a single. Will they really show up in Stockholm on Saturday?
Well, they played Australasia and Mexico last year and they were successful shows so i can't see why the can't play Europe without the album.
Even if the album was out, i doubt they'd play much off it.
I'm sure they will turn up on Saturday, if they were going to cancel they would have let fans know already. :smth023
Bands tour without albums to support all the time.
Just look at The Sisters Of Mercy.
Remember the last album they released?
18 flipping years & they still tour.
They have new songs too (about 10)
They still tour.
Wish they'd release an album too though
yes it´s still time for a new SOM record !!!!!!!!!!
in 2004 the released the album during the festivale? tour.
they played a much new songs on the hurrican festival, and the next day on the southside festival the played more "old" stuff, because they saw at hurricane, thats a problem playing new songs on festivals.
1982 pornography was released after the tour what i can remember
i personally like to hear the new album before the tour, but this tour i can´t be around so i get more exciting for the tapings.........
well, The Cure began this tour, in mind to release the 13th album, at some time during this tour.. yet ( despite a few cancellations and rescheduled dates) are still continuing their world tour... and have not officially released a single , although have played a few 'teasers'.. ;)
The fact that the tour continues...( mostly sold-out).. without a new album to release.. says it all. :smth023

Good point, Well made, that lady.
well ill be just glad if things go through as scheduled and frankly maybe more happy if they put out the new stuff out after the tour so ill enjoy a gig full old things.
ufff, cant wait! 2 days to stockholm, TWO WEEKS TO PRAGUE! Bring them on!
IF THEY GO ON WITH THE TOUR WITHOUT THE ALBUM IT WILL BE RATHER DISAPPOINTING.

Sad but true :(
i don´t know why the sell this tour out.
like i said before in vienna as an example.
dream tour 2000 1500 tickets sold, concert wasn´t sold out.
but there was promotion at the radio.
2008 4tour, almost no promotion, no new album, but sold out over 3600 tickets ???
i can´t believe that. don´t know why. most people don´t know the cure. i was almost an outsider with my the cure t-shirts.
but than came "spiderman" which mde them a little famous. but 2008 ?????
youngsters don´t know the cure i think.
or is it that emo thing, that the cure is modern again at teenagers ??

in my case.. influence from the generation before. But I can say this... my mum a big Crowded House fan.for over 20 years.. and the last concert she saw, before they split-up, all the crowd were 'yuppies' in her words, and they didn't even know the words to the songs!!
They call me an emo at school.. but i like a mixture of music.. and only called myself a curefan after the concert here ... :smth023 and BTW.. VERY happy to wear my curefan t-shirt and tour t-shirts.. PROUDLY!!

my brother hated the cure. i loved them :-)
now his son is an so called emo now, with black hair and this emo style. and he has bought a cure cd i heard today from my mother. that made me laugh. poor brother ! the cure started something, and there music is for teenagers , doesnt mind 80ies,90ies, or 00ies
My friends' nephew is 16 and he says that lots of kids at his school are into The Cure.

And it will be the frist time, if it happens, I believe.
GIVE US A SINGLE AT LEAST!
:-D
Haven't they done something similar in 2004 ???
Or am i wrong? The Cure went on a Festival Tour before the self-titled album was released. Thanks for the answers in advance :)
I hope they will release the album soon.
Yes, you're right Janko, they could give us a single at least :)
I'm surprised it hasn't leaked. The Smashing Pumpkins "Zeitgeist" leaked, Nine Inch Nails "Year Zero" did, and I believe Bauhaus's new album is floating around there too.

Ahhh, remember starting to listen to cure when i was +- the same age. Looks like the message is still valid then. Thats cool.
Looks like the EMO stuff looking into The Cure a bit as well.
Im going to the concert with bunch of friends who were 15-16 as well 20 years ago :) Looks like there will really a big range of different aged people, which makes it really interesting.
Lets see, cca 36 hours to go before the first show...

definetely not - as the label won't earn directly with a tour, instead they think put out the new album now + let us do another greatest hits in the winter.
the comparision to The Sisters, hm, well, it is a different thing baasically, as Andrew Eldritch wants his total artistic freedom + a certain amount of $$ as advance for a new album, as the lame record companies can't agree with him on that, fine, that is why there is no new album.
sold out tour - one of the reasons the tour sells well is for sure the little number of concerts in various countries (think of France for example compared to the Dream Tour)+ the well chosen timeperiod (let's face it, not many groups that share many listeners are on the road now or if they are have announced tourdates later in the year). and for sure the 'no-risk' factor as well, they are playing almost the same cities + arenas as always.

yes you are right. i think it was released after the southside show. where the "new" songs didn´t work for the festival visitors.
i knew the songs and some other fans this time around, too
