There was an interview published in Gestion with the organizer of The Cure in Lima, Jorge Fernandez of Move Concerts. Key highlights:

  • Unlike other bands Move Concerts brought to Lima, the coordination of the show was done directly with Robert Smith. "It's the first time I have handled a band where the artist is at the same time, the manager. Smith manages all the administrative stuff of the band and staff, which are about 67 people"
  • Pre-Sale was pretty good with 75% of tickets sold, something really good for a 'Stadium' band
  • At least 18,000 tickets need to be sold to recover the investment
  • Fernandez expects a sold out by aprox. end of October (concert is 22nd November)
  • The Cure wouldn't play Lima for less than 30,000 people
  • The Cure fees are very similar as 10 years ago, unlike other artists that have increased their pretentions up to 5 times
  • The capacity for this event will be 42,000 people

My good friend @Jojo denovan and Percy The Hedgehog will be heading for the first time ever to South America. Since I prepared a program for his stay in Peru I thought I would also share it here for those heading to Lima and other cities in November to see the world's greatest band:

QuoteFirst of all you can buy a ticket for Machu Picchu yourself, make sure you choose the route "Llaqta de Machu Picchu" which is the usual one. This is the OFFICIAL site to buy the ticket. Suggest to do it with someone who speaks Spanish (by the way 1 Peruvian Sol = 0,22 British Pounds approx.):

https://reservas.machupicchu.gob.pe/inicio

Cusco is the base to go to Machu Picchu and other awesome places, but is 3000 meters over the sea. You are likely to get a bad headache on your first day. It usually goes out the next day. Make sure to bring painkillers etc. Check

https://theculturetrip.com/south-america/peru/articles/how-to-cope-with-altitude-sickness-in-cusco-peru/

Therefore I suggest seeing Machu Picchu on the third or fourth day of arrival. This agency has some good reviews and also "Day Tours" at very good prices:

https://www.cuscoexpedition.org/day-tours

They will usually pick you from your hotel, you see to the landmarks and then they take you back. In my opinion the "Valle Sagrado + Maras Moray" is a must. The rainbow mountain "Vinicunca" is also recommended. For Machu Picchu you have two options

1) Leave Cusco early morning and head to Machu Picchu (train takes about 5 hours), then return in the evening
2) Leave Cusco direction to Machu Picchu and stop in Aguas Calientes, the village next to Machu Picchu, sleep there, then go to Machu Picchu early morning next day (i.e. probably less tourists)

Check this

https://www.zoegoesplaces.com/aguas-calientes-to-machu-picchu/

Check with cuscoexpedition.org what options for Machu Picchu they offer and remember to tell them you already have your Machu Picchu ticket so they don't charge you that again in the fee. I see they are also on FB https://www.facebook.com/officialcuscoexpedition

For staying in Lima, book this hotel (Ibis Lima Larco Miraflores) as is in an excellent location:

https://all.accor.com/hotel/6971/index.en.shtml

I think this program could work for you, and Buenos Aires is definitely is a city worth spending at least 3 nights in, so maybe something like?

15.11 Landing in Lima, heading to Cusco
16.11 Cusco
17.11 Cusco or Aguas Calientes
18.11 Cusco (Machu Picchu)
19.11 Cusco and then return to Lima, or last night in Cusco
20.11 Lima. Assuming you arrive in the early morning we can head in the afternoon to Paracas, some 2h south of Lima (check https://www.saltinourhair.com/peru/paracas-peru/)
21.11 Lima (sightseeing and fan meetup)
22.11 Lima (The Cure)
23.11 Lima
24.11 Buenos Aires
25.11 Buenos Aires (The Cure)
26.11 Buenos Aires (or Montevideo)
27.11 Montevideo (The Cure)
28.11 Montevideo (or Buenos Aires, if cheaper to fly from here to Santiago than from Montevideo)
29.11 Santiago
30.11 Santiago (The Cure)

Please notice that the match for the 2026 World Cup South American Qualifiers between Peru and Venezuela have been confirmed for the 21st November which means The Cure concert will likely need to move to a new location (hopefully the Estadio Monumental)

Move Concerts, the organizers of The Cure Lima, didn't comment on this yet

A few tips if you want to see The Cure in Lima:

- you may purchase the tickets online through the teleticket portal https://teleticket.com.pe/the-cure-2023 and you will have to choose the 'regular' price as is unlikely you have a BBVA Peru account unless you live in Peru. You may pay with the usual credit or debit cards: Visa, Master Card etc

- best area to book a place in Lima is Miraflores. It's very safe, awesome restaurants and the view is breath-taking. The day of the concert, you may take an Uber (never take a taxi from the street, only take an app-Taxi) or you can take a Metropolitano bus which will take you to the Estadio Nacional in about 30 minutes

- coming from the north (Ecuador) is a 18 hours trip from Tumbes (Peruvian border city with Ecuador) if you plan to take a bus. best option is https://www.cruzdelsur.com.pe/

Due the World Cup 2026 qualifiers match between Peru and Venezuela to be held 21st November, The Cure concert will finally take place at the stadium of the San Marcos University (Estadio de la Universidad Mayor de San Marcos). As you know, The Cure's show was moved to another venue because of the Peru - Venezuela match for the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers to be held at the Estadio Nacional.

Although the match is very soon (in nearly a week) tickets are NOT YET on sale! We expect them to be put for sale by Wednesday 15th November. If you are coming to Lima for the first time, attending a football match, specially from the Eliminatorias (Qualifiers) is highly recommended. Tickets will go on sale in the Joinus site and I strongly suggest you to open account there if you are interested in this event: https://www.joinnus.com/

WARNING: Please be aware that is extremely difficult to get tickets to see a match of the Peruvian National Team as the demand is very high, so they sell out very quick!
