I'm glad they'll play some summer festivals. Maybe I can make it to Southside Festival.
But, this also means they won't play their own big tour in 2012 and possibly recording the new album, which then should be out in 2013 followed by a tour...

That's last year's lineup - this year's doesn't come out until March.
But yes, it does seem likely that they will play Latitude. It is more suited for them, but is only about 35,000 capacity. I've been there the last 2 years, it is a lovely festival, with all the arts there, not just music. Annoyingly, I'll be at Benicassim festival the weekend Latitude is on, so it looks like I'll miss out on The Cure completely :(

The Cure have not yet confirmed the Spanish dates, but it's possible they play Bilbao BBK, Primavera Sound or Benicassim (where they played already). Maybe you won't miss them after all. Time will tell :smth023

It's a "twin" festival, same bands, different day, this often leads to confusion...

i just bought my ticket to the hurricane festival.. i can't believe it and feel a bit shakey actually.
as far as i know the southside and hurricane festival have the same line up and the bands perform at both locations (in the north and in the south) at different times. :)

Carhaix is in the north-west of France, not too far from Brest. I think it's so far the smallest Festival where The Cure will play. I will consider it going there, as the ticket per day is just 41 EUR (30 or 40 EUR less compared to other festivals)

The rumour hasn't been dispelled since it appeared in January & yeah I know it's not official until it's on the official site, but even the Splendour organisers are still going along with it saying "that rumour is still alive and kickin" their Facebook page.

Yes, Bob said this to NME sometime ago. I wouldn't be scared. He didn't say on this interview that they won't record an album "anymore". He just said that it has "to be good" otherwise he won't make it. But he already talked about the dark album and so on. I'm sure they will release something this or next year. At the moment, we have the Summer festivals. At least something.
Well, it's not unusual for The Cure to go out and do festivals before they record something new. They did this in 1995 and 1998 for example. I myself am quite sure that there won't be a new album before summer 2013 (if that), they would have to go to the studio first of all (and usually it takes a while until everything is polished up and finished).
New music will come eventually :D
Just a bit freaky about my comment about the gaps in between festivals in Europe maybe leaving a space for "something else " over the other side of the world, & then it appearing in the article.
Anyway I'm stalking musicfeeds amongst other sites at the moment. Just a snippet of the article today.
"Now the guessing for the Saturday night headliner begins. There have been rumours of The Cure returning to Australia since their more-than-magnificent Vivid Live show (Steve Pav, I am still more than grateful) and they seem more than fitting to headline the festival.
