Title: Robert bothered by fans in Australia (Part II)
Post by: dsanchez on August 10, 2007, 20:42:31

He looks so tired. Video is from 11th August (it's saturday already in Australia), so I guess it's right after the Sydney gig?.

"we really don't like bugging you guys at all..." - oh, why do you do it then????

very bad to watch stuff like this. makes you both angry and sad.
if someone can still come up and say "yes but it was such a great opportunity for the fans!!!" then she/he is just utterly nuts and has no feelings whatsoever.

I would be really crazy for meeting the boys, but the bother them after a concert, on the way to another city, when everyone of the band is obviously very tired. I don't know. They're humans after all!

After 4 hours sleep, i also really couldnt be bothered with human communication.
I like the bit where they say 'Oh we dont like bothering you' - erm, but we will anyway, because youre only here once a decade...... its just selfish.

To be honest id be terrified to meet him, im sure hes a nice person and all that, but in a situation like this, id rather not meet him at all, than to leave him with the impression i was an ignorant prick. Its just not worth it, youre only going to annoy him at times like that.

One ineteresting thing though..... did i hear correctly about KEYBOARDS ONSTAGE IN THE US?

Hmm, lets see  ;)

The poor band! There's a time and a place for this sort of thing and that was NOT IT.
Do they not have security who can step in and intervene in situations like this?

Disgusting... I think the best thing I do as a Cure fan is to stay the hell out of their way.  It's one thing to sort of run into Robert or Simon or whoever and say hi, maybe shake their hand... but to actively seek out, proceed to to film and engage in awkward hugs and conversation is just... creepy.
I mean, I'd like to give Robert a hug but I don't think I'd actually just do it.  It's things like this that cause our favorite musicians to not be some open, friendly or forthcoming when met in person.
In short... put the damn camera away, moron.

Bob's comment about possibly having a keyboard or two onstage in America is indeed interesting.  We shall see.

Its really hard to watch this, I cant believe true fans would do this.  Its one thing asking for a quick autograph, another stalling with a #$%#ing camera in your face after a flight at an airport.  Disgusting.  I cant believe how affable he was during the whole time either.  Nope, totally wrong

Robert was wonderful in that, very polite but obviously bothered. The keyboards news is interesting, but we'll see if anything materialises. I think I'd like to hug Robert, but I'd probably never do more than shake his hand if I actually met him. Definitely wouldn't film it! Or make it last seven minutes! God, what awful fans....

I'm plenty impressed with how polite he was, even though he clearly didn't have time to talk!

WELL, YOU KNOW...
IT'S A TOUGH CALL!
IF I WAS IN THE SAME POSITION I DONT KNOW HOW I WOULD ACT...
MAYBE I'D JUST IGNORE IT
MAYBE I'D THOUGHT OF IT AS A ONCE IN THE LIFETIME OPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO MY FAVOURITE MUSICIAN
MAYBE I'D BUY HIM A DRINK
MAYBE I'D JUST STAND THERE AND LOOK CREEPY
WHO KNOWS!
AS I SAID IT'S MOST PROBABLY A ONCE IN THE LIFETIME OPORTUNITY, SO...

Why on earth would you make a big deal by putting this video out there, and then cut off access to it. Did you realise it made Robert look good and you bad?
Anyway one more sleep til Melbourne show - will not sleep!

look at the logo: youtube. so isn't it slightly more likely that the person who originally put that on youtube is the one who cut access to it, right?
(i sort of find it hard to believe that it was YOU david who went all the way to australia to bug the ol' man like that and then uploaded the video to youtube in order to get your 15 minutes of questionable fame and then posted the link here, in order to catch even bit more questionable attention??? )

Fair enough. Yes of course I saw the logo and of course I went to youtube and found access was cut there as well and I did wonder the person who shot it (obviously a cure fan) might have but the link to it on the list as well. But I must have been wrong. Sincerest apologies!

Poor Robert was bothered by so called Fans. What do such people think when they do this? It's disrespectful. Should a celebrity brave everything? I mean when they have cameras most of the time in front of their face. I think not, because they have also the right to be left alone i think.

Robert was once again very nice to them, even if he was very tired. Respect towards Robert!!  :smth023

PS: I haven't seen the video and i don't want so see it.

I was watching this online as I typed the setlist for Sydney Night 2, (which was as people were leaving the venue), so it was actually filmed the morning after Brisbane, probably the morning of 9 August 2007 is my guess

but IF i was robert then I myself would run away when some complete strangers come to me and start telling how they have listened to my records backwards, from the end to beginning trying to find some secret messages there...
hey that's just NUTS. i think people like that need some :smth100
so, IF i were robert...

@lady: believe me, this video was massively much much more worse than that last one...  ;)

besides, wasn't that robert himself who at least once put his hand over the camera lens?
i think there's a pretty clear message, regardless of whether you play the video onwards or backwards or upside down or whatever.  :?

no that's not what i meant. because i wasn't just sarcastically referring to our differences last time but i honestly meant that this was seriously a LOT LOT worse than the other video before and i truly doubt it that even you would have find those fans "warm".

and besides, like i said, if robert himself put his hand on the camera lens, to try to tell them "please stop filming"...
shouldn't we simply respect that?

Honestly I was disappointed by Bob's behaviour about the camera...maybe this is right for you, but I (and a lot of italian people) think that an artist acts like this when he "gets a big head" and so becomes cold with his fans...that's why I told about different points of view, but I didn't say that you wrong or I wrong...  ;)

Anyway there are many artists, who everywhere are always so sweet and friendly with their fans ...I really don't know why Bob seems everytime so bothered.... :?

I think it all depends of the situation. The video showed someone very tired after a long concert (Bob). It's like if you were in a party all night long and next day at 7.00 am some friend knock your door. I wonder if you would be happy to open your door :)

So I think, it all depends of the situation. For example, we've got signatures from Roger Waters in his hotel, one afternoon. He was very relaxed and did sign to about 30 fans. But I dont think he would sign if we bother him after a concert, when he obviously needs some rest...

well, in the video robert was trying to say to those fans that he's very very tired and haven't slept but a few hours - and that he has to be able to sing in the evening too, so he needs rest... so i don't think that it was anything like "being big-headed". you can look at a person and tell when he's truly exhausted and would just like to rest. robert simply looked like this and not at all big-headed.
i think there's a clear difference between these two.

but people are different. we cannot ask every celebrity to be extremely open and willing to share his personal life and personal time to everyone. if some celebrities do it, it's fine because it's obviously their choice. but we can't use them as models and say "everyone should be like this". if you look into the history of the band a bit, it's soon very clear that robert never wanted his personal life to be in be under the public eye. he wanted people to be interested in his art and not in himself as a person. he said this many times, in numerous ways. so cannot we just leave him as it is? how could we have a right to ask him to change for us? we all are just how we are, you and me too....

Yes, i agree with you totally japanesebaby!!

Why didn't the people left Robert alone, if they noticed that he was very tired?. He also said it to them.

I can understand that celebrities are not amused about it when a fan visible bothers them.
For me that is disrespectful and will ever be.
That happens many times in their career.

And i'm very happy for Robert he has a private life - that is private. He needs a place where he can retire. Everyone needs it i think.

Robert's job is to make records and perform.  Anything extra he does is just that.  Extra.  And while it's appreciated when he takes the time to talk to fans, it should never be expected.

Same...the video in unavailable. Then again, I do not enjoy seeing my idols being hassled and sinking to low levels like that..or just being a*******. Tom Cruise's escapades ruined my acceptance of him...not whenever I see him I scoff. I don't want to see Robert's bad side, personally. It might taint my opinion of him for the worse!

I could never change the way i feel for~ and about Robert,
I havent seen that video and dont want to,
Iam from Melbourne, Australia, and makes me upset and embarrassed for Australia,
even though it was Sydney, shameful !! guess could happen anywhere..
How ever Robert reacted at the time it would be understandalbe, completely !!!
Thats just awful, and this is the one bad side to youtube......

I love youtube, but its like a race with some kids that want to
hunt down a celeb, and be first to post something different- without a care for the
person.
Sad.
Paparazi was and is bad enough, now they have to deal with anyone with a camera
or phone. :smth011
I hope youtube has removed it also, due to the inconsiderate nature of it  :!:

Are these videos available anywhere else? All of them are private or have been removed. I feel like I am missing something not being able to see them. They seem to have sparked quite a heated conersation or two... Also, does Curefans.com have a youtube channel? If so what is it called and how to I subscribe? :-D
