I always liked this b-side (2001) and was pleased they even started playing it live (e.g. it can be heard on "Festival 2005" dvd)!

The holy city breathed like a dying man...

I've been dreaming a lot recently, and RS made an appearance last night. It felt quite cryptic... he was standing on a stage, wearing a tshirt which depicted several hazy people and underneath the image there was the word "lost".

I have no idea what it means. I'm hopeful it's my own 'stuff' being worked through, rather than any intuitive thing (as I hope RS is not feeling lost, and is safe and well 😘😘)

"Where the flesh meets the spirit world,
Where the traffic is thin..."

This may be dark, but has way too much musical energy and passion to be lie-down-in-it. Love this track and think it's been improved over time - the studio track wasn't bad, but this is much fuller and richer and just totally nails it.

Brett the other day was comparing One Hundred Years off the original album to live and said he personally couldn't make up his mind which he liked better- the stripped-backness and coldness of the studio version or the cavernousness of the more recent live performances!

While outside in the garden with my relatives and their puppy, I had an idea what song to post.  :happy

They had a puppy? Here's another song that suggests itself.   :winking_tongue

That last one just nails it. I wish they played this live a bit more. ♥

Head on the Door was released on the 26th of August 1985, so I dipped back into it, and Six Different Ways is the track that has been my "earworm" over the last few days.

I like this phase of The Cure. RS seemed to overcome his heavy heart to a degree, and bloomed into a lighter and more playful soul.

I know I've dropped this song into this thread umpteen times before, but I happened to be listening to the Curætion CDs while trying to get the energy up to assemble a decent dinner, and it just leapt out at me all over again how therapeutic this song is:

It is so good to know I'm not the only one who feels in their bones how insane this world is - specifically, the human component of it. This song gives voice to a thing that is often just "backgrounded" at our peril...

Isn't it funny how we all get better at stuff, but look worse?  :winking_tongue

The "likes" on a forum are a pretty blunt tool - I think the more recent version is far more accomplished and has way more pizzaz. I know the acoustic - electric thing doesn't make for a fair comparison here, but I pretty generally think that this band is peaking live in recent years, not 30 years ago - which is more than I can say for most other bands.  :cool
