Lets my memory be perverted to the uses
Of lying and oppression.
My lovers and their children must not be dispossessed of me;
I would be the untarnished possession forever
Of those for whom I lived.

Concert ticket purchased, slightly less(€91) than Riga . Will be going to the standing area. The plan is to go to Riga, stay there two nights, then take a bus to Tallin (Estonia) on 07.10, stay overnight there, and take the ferry to Helsinki the morning of 08.10 ready for The Cure!

I have a suggestion for Robert.
Play all the singles at the beginning of the show. Then say to the audience: "We will not play any more singles tonight. If you just want to hear the singles and go home happy you can leave."

Otherwise, I guess I will have to leave before the pop encore if I want to go home happy. And I have the same right to go home happy as anybody else.

Wonderful night yesterday in Helsinki with the band again in excellent form. A few surprises: Kyoto Song and Cold (!) and a 17 seconds first encore (At Night/M/Play for Today/A Forest) pleased I think most hardcore fans who were expecting a different setlist in Riga. Full set below:

Met with fellow Curefans including @lacrima mosa and Mike and his wife Lisa from the UK before the gig. Other fans were at the meeting point as well including one lady who travelled all the way from the US. She gave Cure bracelets to me and Lisa :)

The venue was an ice hockey hall and it was I think full at 90%. The band started a bit earlier this time (20:30 local time). They were preceded by The Twilight Sad who played their usual 30' set. I like Twilight, but I think other bands should get the chance to support The Cure considering this is a very long tour - 40+ dates!

Merch prices were a bit pricier than Riga (EUR 25 the t-shirt in Riga vs EUR 30 in Helsinki). Drinks and food were not allowed inside the standing/tribune area.

The band started right on time and I really love the intro The Cure is using, gloomy and mysterious. The mainset you know it already and looks like it will be like this during the whole tour, starts with 'Alone' and ends with 'Endsong'. In between a great selection of the band's repertoire with Cold and Kyoto Song as highlights from yesterday's evening. Of course I loved 'Push' and will always do, as well as 'Want' which is the first song I ever listened live from The Cure (that's what they used for their Hamburg 2002 show). I am not sure why 'Hungry Ghost' included instead of stronger songs as 'Underneath The Stars' from 4:13 Dream. And I know some won't like this, but is time to drop FTEOTDGS and include something else from Wish - perhaps 'Cut'? Other than I am very pleased with the setlist, the energy of the band and Robert's intact voice. I totally understand the last pop encore, after all, 80% or more of people attending Cure shows only know songs from that encore, and they deserve to have some fun as well!

By the way, stage visuals are the same for Lullaby, A Forest and SDS; but everything else is new I can confirm.

Robert mentioned he will speak Finnish next time he comes back to Finland... I don't believe him, but I will believe he will return for their other album tour (if I remember correctly he said they had two albums prepared)

Anyway, just wrapping up my stuff and heading to Stockholm later. I am pretty sure the band will surprise us with a different first encore. A Pornography one this time?

Yep, thanks for the nice report incl. setlist and the photos!  :smth023

Good to see the band include some "surprises" in the setlist, thus I hope the setlist will change a bit from time to time.

That would be really desirable. Can they do it?  :angel
