i know: many fans hate this album. i don't! :-) but i have to admit: the first time i heard it i was shocked! but i gave 'wms' more chances... :D
there is one thing in particular i really like: it's the use of real strings and a piano.
"want" is a great opening track (especially live). "club america" rocks (they should have played it last year). "the 13th" and "round and round and round" are very funny. "strange attraction" is strange indeed but i like the lyrics. "jupiter crash" is beautiful. "mint car" is the better "friday i'm in love". "return" rocked live! "numb" is okay but i don't really like the lyrics. and "bare" is another beautiful song.
my favourite track is "jupiter crash" followed by "want". the weakest track is "trap".
For me too my favorite song for this album is Jupiter crash !!
"Jupiter Crash," easy. Really pretty song.
Strange Atrraction :D
Trap :P
want is tops on my list. i'm always wanting more, more songs that sound like want and jupiter crash. less songs that sound like club america, round and round and round, the 13th, and gone. i gave this album another listen the other day. it was painfully difficult to not skip over some of the tracks.

I voted for This Is A Lie
jupiter crash
sweet and melancholic
and the parallelism between the love date and the astronomic event kills me
close second: this is a lie
whereas i can remember i loved want at first, but i slowly grew tired of it.
about this album in general...
"it kinda wasn't quite what i'd hoped for you know..."
I LOVE JUPITER CRASH
Bare for the fact that sometimes it makes me cry  but I like Want, Club america, This is a lie, Jupiter crash and of course some of the most beautiful B-sides as Adona?s.
It's not a bad album, just to be heard on a sunny day to have more fun :-D
I skip only Round and round ...
want
but the best WMS track for me is 'it used to be me'. it definitely should have been on the album instead of something like 'trap' ending up in there.
also 'adonais' beats many album tracks.
jupiter crash, followed by Want....but the best things of this era are b-sides. especially Home.
it used to be me is the best track from this period.
-brian
I voted for the 13th, sometimes you need to feel like this. I really love Jupiter Crash though.
want
Bare is my favorite, but I agree with most that Jupiter Crash is the best song on the album really...
Jupiter crash :D
voted for "want", one of the best tracks they ever made, i don't like the rest of the album (personal view), reminds of their second bad album "the top"
(sorry, but once again personal view)
curiosa frank
If there is a good song on it - it is " This is a lie ".
If you look at the japanese edition it`s - It used to be me !!!!!!!!!
Want.
Followed closely by Treasure, This Is A Lie, Jupiter Crash and Bare.
Yep, I think I really like this album :D
my favorite its a pink dream?????? by far andnext strange atraction
i love jupiter crash, numb, want, strange attraction, return, bare.... but my favourite song is Gone!!! Simply great! swingggg
Trap is the best, but Want is very good song too.
Want
Syd
i must be only people to really like
mint car....
(sorry ;-) )
Want.
Jupiter Crash is one of the most boring song I have ever heard, especially live.
The only over good songs on WMS are Club America, The 13th and Gone! (great pop trio)
I've chose Trap, but i think that WMS is very good album
This is a lie.. :-D
Bare.
Such a great song.
want...the only good song in WMS :rocker
Want for me!
Want is simply amazing.
This Is A Lie, Strange Attraction, Mint Car, and Treasure are great.
Club America, Jupiter Crash, and Bare are good.
The rest is kinda blah.
I see your list and raise you mine.
Want -- fantastic; 10.
Club America -- good; 8.
This is a Lie -- fantastic; 10.
The 13th -- great; 9.
Strange Attraction -- good; 8.
Mint Car -- great; 9.
Jupiter Crash -- great; 9.
Round & Round & Round -- good; 8.
Gone! -- great; 9.
Numb -- great; 9
Return -- okay; 7.
Trap -- good; 8.
Treasure -- great; 9.
Bare -- fantastic; 10.
I should point out that this makes it one of my least favourite Cure albums. Which, really, speaks more of the greatness of The Cure than anything else, because Wild Mood Swings is, in my opinion, a great album.
Yes.
This is a lie .... It's not my favourite album.... jupiter Crash not bad..
Want, Treasure, Jupiter Crash, This is a Lie, Strange attraction and 13th... :smth023
and the creepy  voice of Robert in Club America... he should sing another song this way... :rocker
Want
Bare
Treasure
This Is A Lie
Mint Car is hands down my favoirite. THe acoustic guitar wins it down for me.
Want, Jupiter Crash, This Is A Lie, Strange Attraction
;)
At a push, I'd have to say Want.
But for me, the best bit is when it stops.
Sorry, but I still cannot abide this LP (even the cover is awful).
But then some of the live versions sort of save it a bit.
GONE!
TRAP
WANT
BEST THREE!
For me it's -
Want
Gone
Treasure
Bare....
★ Jupiter Crash because its lovely and dreamy ★
I'm not a fan of this album but 'Want' is perfect. I also enjoy 'This is a lie'.
return, mint car and treasure are my favourites. i can't get over how many people love jupitar crash, a good song but I didn't know it was so loved.
I'm voting for "Bare". That's definitely my favourite from this record. :smth023
For now,
TREASURE :smth023
Really appreciate the lyric of the song and from the lyric i know Robert Smith better.
WANT :smth023
Jupiter Crash... next up !
Difficult to say, it's a close call between Want, This Is A Lie and Jupiter Crash...
I really liked this album a lot back when it was new. After all, I had been waiting nearly 4 years after "Wish" until finally there was a new album! So I had to like it, eh? ;)
I like(d) the diversity of material (just as with KM KM KM), though I gotta admit not all songs are that strong and indeed some of the B-sides at the time were better and should've been on the album.
it is hard to say which is the best
but it is
Want,
This Is A Lie or
Bare
If I tried hard I could keep about 5-6 songs from this and add their best song that's not even on this album but a b-side 'It Used To Be Me'. How they couldn't put this on the album over Round & Round & Round, Strange Attraction or Gone! is beyond me. Shoot even Adonais and Pink Dream are better. If I had my way I would've made WMS an 8 song album that wasn't half bad just from choice of songs from the sessions.
Treasure for me is the outstanding song on the album - again one of those overall things -> good lyrics, good production, and excellent arrangement - love Robert's vocals on that song as well, basically classic Cure and that is always a good sign. And again one of those totally underrated + underplayed songs!
Some songs I can't stand on this album - as some already said, way better b-sides than album stuff at times - totally dislike things like Gone, Club America, Crap, Round & Round... and did I mention Crap? a strong 10-song album would be possible with different tracklisting, though. other faves on the album are This Is A Lie, Want, Numb, Bare (a slight bit too long for my liking) + Jupiter Crash.
Starnge Attraction Is My Number One!!!!!
The 13th
Bare
Numb
...Well The Whole Albums Rocks!
...The Only Exception Is Club America :)
I was disappointed by the lack of cohesion - there really isn't a "sound" to this CD, which we we were spoiled by, with the previous few
but... there are some great treasures on WMS.
Jupiter Crash and Want - which were heard live before the release at the 95 festivals
this worries me, because we are getting the same treatment with some of the current new songs!!! I hope it's not WMS part 2!!
I also really like the courage of 13th, Gone!
I'm kind of bored by Round and Round and Numb, and Treasure and This is a lie
The problem is I just don't want to hear pop after hearing Want - it feels like it's misleading. A bit like The Shake Dog Shake = Birdmad Girl, The Kiss = Catch effect.
but individually, each song has its own merit
I must give a shout-out to WAITING! B-side of the Mint Car single. Touching, touching song...
Anyhow, I voted for Bare. This live version (from a nice, intimate promo show in Paris) made me love it:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JgJ_R959uec
By the way, Robert said this in an interview about the album: "we lived together for a year in a house, and at the end of it we ended up with an album. I had no idea how we got there or what we'd done or why we'd done it. It's slightly incoherent and unfocused." Explains one or two things.
Here's the interview (albums being reviewed by Robert):

And here's an interview about the album, among other things, at Jools Holland (if you want to know what house they were staying in and such...):
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=z8mrUnA8-ts
... but however hard I want
I know deep down inside
I'll never really get more hope
or any more time
:smth048
"Want". It´s the only great song on this album, although it sounds a tad overproduced.
Other than that, "Jupiter Crash" and "This is a lie" are good. And "The 13th" was actually a good single, certainly not worse than things like "Why can´t I be you" or "Hot Hot Hot". But most of this album is just too weak for a band like The Cure. Even the long slow songs sound kind of uninspired...
I gotta say, this album hasn't been given a full lsten from me yet but so far Trap, The 13th and Want arre up there
It is indeed an underrated Cure album but the most underrated cure album EVER is WISH!!
"Jupiter Crash." I love the ethereal and dramatic feeling it invokes
01 Return (perfect pop, great lyrics, carnival of the musical instruments)
02 Strange Attraction (smooth music and a great, whole and heart-breaking story. One of the best lyrics)
03 Want (a brave and honest hymn, fantastic opener)
Really great and underrated album.
I'm a little late, but I'm new, I just wanted to say that WMS is for me the best album of Cure, without hesitate, I'm completely crazy and as you can see my favorite song is Jupitercrash :-D
Well, for me 'Want' is the best one, even if a bit overproduced. The other worthwhile songs on the album are 'Jupiter Crash', 'This is a Lie' and... 'The 13th' (their last good pop single, in my opinion - it's a pity that nowadays they don't play this one instead of 'Mint Car', for instance).
01 club america
02 trap
03 numb
04 this is a lie

Yes, indeed. It was a pleasure for me to hear the track after all these years.
1 Want
2 Trap/Numb/Strange Attraction
Tbh the only song i've heard off this album is Mint Car, oops

What? :o :(
You NEED to hear Want, Bare, This is a lie... to name but a few!!!!
Round and Round and Round :). It sounds like late spring/early summer to me
