i´ve bought an ipod 80gb , but headphones are not so good, i like listen music with quality and very loud, what can i do to get a better sound?, equalizer, rec level of songs and what more?, what headphones do you prefer?...

Hey angel - After somehow managing to kill 2 pairs of iPod headphones in the space of 12 months, I finally bought Sennheiser CX400s and absolutely love them. They're a little expensive but well worth the investment, I think...
P.S. A big thanks to Steve and scatcat for mentioning the Sennheisers in another thread (which I can't remember right now)... :smth023

Well, Angel, I know it's none of my business, but you really should not listen to music VERY LOUD on headphones. It will damage your ears, that's for sure. If it is loudness you want, it's better to forget headphones altogether.
I pretty much swear by Sony MDRJ10 Ear Clips, They sound decent, are very comfortable, and only cost $10. The quality isnt breathtakingly great but its noticably better than the ipod earbuds and pretty much everything else in that price range.
I had the "pleasure" of listening to some stock iPod headphones a couple weeks ago, and wow, they are bad! :lol:

I use Sennheiser CX300, they are not expensive and the quality is good (not the best out there, but decent enough)
If your concrete model is supported by Rockbox, I would install it, Rockbox is simply great!

Those AT cans are good for the price. I borrowed a pair froma friend to test against my Sennheiser 280 Pros and prefer the AT-40s. Not only were the more closely matched, but they capture a fuller sound spectrum.
I'll stand by the sennheisers (cx300)
Comfy, sound great & not too expensive. (& don't p!ss everyone around you off).
When you spend that much on an ipod, you shouldn't skimp on the phones (like apple do :roll:)
This is a perfect thread for me to be reading at the moment since I recently was given an 80GB Classic Ipod as a birthday gift last month. Problem is, I'm more addicted with filling the damn thing up with music than I am actually taking it around with me to listen to what I've been putting on it :lol:. I'll keep those Sennheisers in mind if I find the standard supplied earphones to be unsatisfactory for my needs. I can certainly now understand the popularity and appeal of these little black beauties.

I took advantage of an impressive recent discount on the Sennheiser CX-300s over on Amazon. I'm no audiophile by any means, and didn't really need new earbuds for the ole Ipod yet, but the deal was just too good to pass on. They should be here any day now. We'll see if I need to applaud some people or smite them for the recommendation :twisted:. If the Sennheisers are as good as some of you say, I should be getting a whole new experience with my 'Pod. Hope so.

You WILL knack your ears.
i think the better headphones you have, the less volume you actually need - and thus the better it is for your ears.
one of the reasons for people feeling like they need to turn the volume up and up and up all the time can actually be low/mediocre quality headphones: they make you feel like you can't really hear the music properly and one might almost "half-unconsciously" feel like the volume increase would be an answer. which it never is, of course.
with that said, i really need to get a new and better portable headphones.
(although actually i haven't used my ipod for quite some time because i got tired of listening music all the time, whether at home or in the bus etc. it's actually been refreshing, to listen to the real sounds around you for a change, and not to have one's very own favorite soundtrack on for 24/7.)

It's a bit like cheap sunglasses that don't block out UV rays.
They simply dilate your pupils to take in even more harmful rays. :roll:
Headphones that are worth the name don't need to be thrashed.
The apple ones simply need to be "trashed" (see what I did there?)
But removing the volume limitation can be really harmful, so please, anyone doing that, be careful.
