I've ticked the box "Hide email address from public?", and every time I check my settings it's ticked, but when I post an entry or go to my profile, my email is there...taunting me.
Should I just remove it all together?
no it's working just ok: i just checked your profile and i can't see your email. it says "hidden".
it's just because all members can always see their own email on their profile site, even if the 'hide' box is ticked.
so no need to remove anything.
Aha...so you can't see the envelope next to my post?

no, people can't see it.
and similarly, i bet you cannot see the envelope under my avatar (although i myself can see that one perfectly well).
(it's a funny thing in the system: like it's encouraging us to send email for ourselves... ;))

Yes, you could have a little soliloquy...just learned that word. :) Anyhow, nice to have that straightened out.

Naughty naughty. :smth018
I think japanesebaby explained very well :smth023
For privacy reasons, member's e-mails are always hidden (members can always contact each other by the Private Message option offered by the forum, which does not reveal the e-mail), with the exception lostflower4 made
:smth029
In addition to this, not everyone can see other's profiles. A guest or a new member can not see other's profiles. New members need to make certain number of posts in order to get this.
Thanks for your questions and welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the info, dsanchez, and I feel very welcome indeed. Great to have finally jumped on the curefans.com train...hrm. ;) ;D
This thread helped answer my question too.
I do not mind being contacted, I just did
not want to worry about SPAM (junk email).
