Title: Have you had dreams about The Cure?
Post by: dsanchez on September 24, 2012, 15:04:59
I dreamed of The Cure last night.

I was in the tribune of some place, and I saw the band playing! They had the 1986 look (with Robert with short hair, etc.). I went around the place to try to get in. I thought I was dreaming, so I waved my hand to some guy there, the guy replied. I was not dreaming! I just traveled back in time to see my favorite band!

I don't know why but I thought they were playing in l'Olympia in Paris. I went to the main entrance and tried to buy a ticket. Then I realized I had only Euros! In 1986 the currency in France were the Francs. I tried to explain the girl of the entrance that I came from the future, that Euros will replace Francs. I also showed my ID card with the date "2012". She couldn't believe it at first, but then she believed me! And I managed to get the ticket and see The Cure.

That's all I remember of the dream. I love time travel movies and stuff, and I love The Cure, hence the dream, I guess :)

Nice dream David :) But mine was actually even weirder. I dreamt it a while ago but it was very clear and ... well... weird :D
So it went like this: I dreamt that one weekend I went over to my hometown to visit my mom, which I do quite a lot. We spent the whole Saturday together - and up until that point - the dream had zero weirdness, in fact it felt very real. When I woke up on Sunday morning though - I mean woke up in the dream, my mom told me that I should get in the car and get away because something bad is coming. I opened the door and found that even though the sky was clear and blue one could feel that spooky silence that comes right before a storm. So I decided to get in my car which was on my mom's driveway - it was my old fiat marea weekend :D When I got in the car I realized (and this is the fun part) - I realized with no trace of shock - that there is Adam and Jamie from the Mythbusters sitting in the back and Robert Smith is sitting next to me, yelling at me to start the engine because huge ducks are falling down from the sky.

True story ;P

I've just perfectly imagined this situation in my mind and I can't stop laughing  :smth043 I wish I could dream about the cure  more... the last cure-dream I remember was about Robert's marriage... I was in the second row but the bride never appeared. Then my father turned up all the lights and I woke up very very angry  :smth089  :smth068

Ok guys, so I had another Robert Smith dream, and guess what - no Armageddon this time :)

The most important part of the dream however is that Robert sang me his new song, that will be released as a single promoting The Cure's new album :D (at least that's what he told me)

The song felt like it could be on "Faith" and I wish I could sing, so I could actually repeat it.

Well maybe I'm psychic and the new album is coming!  :smth020

Oh I haven't posted anything on curefans.com for sooooooo long and I stumbled across this wee topic.. I have had a few dreams of Mr Smith, and its basically always the same one. For some reason we live in a Castle tower and its very cold and windy and the sea is crashing at the door. Sometimes he's my husband other times he seems to be having troubles with Mary?! Wishful thinking on my part totally hahahaha... At the end of the dream we are in a cablecar type ride going through what I can only think is like a little Italian type town, the bricks of the buildings have the kind of feel to them.. or look, however you say it. I believe dreams have meaning to them, but for the life of me this one I can never understand!! I have dreamt it probably 4 times now over the years. Dreams are curious things huh!!

Oh and hello again to all those that know me here!! I hope to be posting more often again  :smth023 It has been a long time between chats!! :-D

yesterday I dreamed with the boys. they were playing again at the National Stadium in Lima. this time, a friend bought the ticket for me and I thought the show would start 20h00. Instead, it started 19h00 and I could heard when arriving to the venue the notes of "Open". The setlist was similar to the LatAm2013 Tour. Bob was looking at the crowd and asked "are you not going to clap?" :) I think there was something else but I can't remember now. It looks like the stage was not 100% built... anyway, I guess I miss to see them live...

This is a curious topic... I actually have dreamt twice in the last few years that I had a tape/CD with the new Cure album, that I played it and that it sounded like the best thing they've done since 'Disintegration'. But then I woke up and couldn't remember any of the songs...  :smth011

Haha, well, I can say that it's a pity we can't record our own dreams, otherwise I would have taped them and sent them to Robert with the message 'Here's the new Cure record, do what you want with it!'  :-D

Anyway, even if I can't really remember any of the songs, I remember the general feel. It was not really dark (certainly not like 'Pornography') but not pop either, it was more like atmospheric but with a punch, something a bit similar (although still different) to 'Burn' or maybe some of the 'Wish' b-sides... or even the 12'' mix of 'High' (one of my favourites).

Revolt - Interestingly enough I had a similar dream to yours back in 2012 (it's in this topic actually:) haha!

"Robert sang me his new song, that will be released as a single promoting The Cure's new album :D (at least that's what he told me)"

On a unrelated note I also dreamt once of a new sports car model which was soooo great that I'm sure I would have sell it as a project to some major car manufacturer. Sadly though, I cannot draw :(

It struck me that on the day before Cure announced tour dates I had a dream of them playing concert. :o Apart from that, almost every record they've done is "just like a dream" for me, either it's live or lp version. :)

YES!!!! I dream of Robert Smith and The Cure regularly. Have been for years! Most recently, Robert had lost weight and was looking like he did in his thirties.

The one before that I was with some guy that I've never met before, sitting at a table in a restaurant setting and Robert came up and told him he liked his hair or clothes or something like that.

In March I dreamt that The Cure was going to be in Orange County, so I woke up with the phrase "The Cure in Orange" on my mind. Well, that very morning, my older sister sent me a link to a page that advertised Lol Tolhurst being at a showing of The Cure in Orange at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood in April. Here's footage from that night, with special guest Pearl Thompson (formerly Porl):

Dreamed of the boys the other night. I was at the church of my school (picture here (http://salesianos.pe/content/2012/10/Sr-Milagros-73.jpg)) and in the altar, they built a stage for The Cure to play. However, the setup didn't look proper and soon I noticed the stage was falling apart! people started to run, myself included. The concert never took place and I don't think the band was at the venue (the church) when this happened. It was a very weird dream.

I had a strange dream as well. The only thing I can remember is that I saw
Robert on stage through a door sideways from the dark backstage area and
I had lost my shoes! The concert was in full swing and then the dream was over.
That was strange.

I am far from an "expert", but I think it might mean you're scared of the possibility of never seeing The Cure again! (Or maybe, like all of us, you're scared the whole world is falling apart while watching helplessly...)  ;)
Title: Re: Have you had dreams about The Cure?

Well, being that it took place at the church of your school, it sounds as if your belief system is changing, as if you can't go to the same place anymore to find reverence (the altar). The Cure probably symbolizes where  you used to go for reverence and maybe you have to go somewhere else to find your reverence (The Cure) now? Being that The Cure didn't show up there, it's as if that platform doesn't support their message/energy. Also, it could be that you're dreaming of stuff going on in The Cure right now. Perhaps they're going through changes. Maybe we'll see a different Cure line-up soon or something like that. It seems more personal than Ulrich's assumption that it has to do with the world, but I agree the world does seem to be falling apart, although I'm pretty optimistic about it. Things might seem like they're getting worse, but they're getting better in the long run. We're also on the brink of major good things happening if we can just have enough people unite, like on the environment, respect of women, respect of the health of our earth, respect and acceptance of each others differences.

Sounds like a good dream. Change usually is good.

Yes I have, a very sad Cure dream. I somehow snuck into Robert's house while he was throwing a party, he had a pool and everything. The sitting area was set up like a college and all his friends and Mary (his wife) were there. After a while he started to go crazy and thought Simon was a chicken so he chased Simon into the pool before trying to eat him and many people had to stop him, and eventually he ended up in the hospital. Many people trudged up a long and steep path to go visit him in his room. As I walked by I could see them, many people, 100's or 1,000's walking just to get a last goodbye in to him. When it was my turn I went in and he asked me to sing some Cure songs with him, so we chatted a bit and then we did sing for a while. I left and then the next day I came back to see Robert escaping from his room, very week and frail walking down the path clutching onto his heart, before passing out, idek what happened after that because I woke up, but I woke up in tears after that dream.

Awwww...Very sad indeed. I wonder if your dream is about something that could have happened in the past? I don't think we need to worry about Robert's sanity now. I actually think he's very sane after seeing him on tour in 2016. I just hope he gets into shape! Won't it be amazing to see Robert looking like he did in his prime? His skin looks great and if he just lost weight he'd be so healthy.

I dream about Robert somewhat often, but nothing unusual to share lately.

Here's a video I made in honor of his birthday:

I dreamed of Robert last night. He was wearing the usual black shirt and black jeans. I was somewhere with other Cure fans and he came and he was like trying to find out who was the most loyal Cure fan among us.  Every person mentioned why they are huge fans, and of course I mentioned that I run curefans.com. When I said that, Robert looked at me and said "So you run it? I check it everyday..."

I was surprised (although I somehow knew he knows the forum very well). And then he came towards me and asked me since when I run it. I was so nervous that I forgot in which year curefans.com started. I also was trying to show him a proof of when it started, but couldn't figure out how. Later I figure out it would have been very simple to show him the first post date in the forum... But I was nervous as my idol was speaking to me.  In the end I think we were talking a lot, but most of the things of the dream I just forgot.

PS. I actually met Robert in person once, when he signed autographs outside his hotel in Lima http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=7571.msg759020#msg759020

...I love this!  Hmm, who knows what actually happened here?
Speculation time: a/ it was just a (very cool) dream.  B/ on some subtle realm you did meet RS.  C/ On some subtle realm you met a presence, who took the form of RS as this would be relevant for you.  D/ ....?

And the account of how you met was fantastic. I've also had the blessing of meeting Robert, and feel inspired by your writing to try put it into words, but still find it hard to do so after so many years.  I met him at the Sydney Reflections shows in 2011.  I met all the other band members who were at the Reflections shows too...and Simon even took a photo of me and Robert (at Robert's suggestion as I was having difficulties taking a selfie with a malfunctioning camera!  ...certainly not a time when you want a camera to be malfunctioning !!!!).   .
I was thankful to met them all, but was particularly keen to meet Robert and was really struck by what an amazing presence he has, and how humble and kind he was.  What a beautiful soul!

...hi everyone by the way (I've been away traveling for a while) .  ...hi there Chemicaloverload hope the Hyde Park concert was an awesome experience for you and your daughter !

The whole scenery was an indoor performance. Red carpets and people everywhere
when he came to me. OMG...it's him! :o White shirt, black hair (a bit shorter than usual)...
it looked like he has just returned from southern France! And, unbelievably, he started a
small talk with me. We talked about this and that and continued our conversation in a small
group of fans. Everything was fine and easy, just like a summer dream... :happy

I've had two dreams about The Cure and Robert Smith recently. First one: Robert was standing by the ocean, looking out, and I put my arm around his waist. Ahhhhhh. The second dream, last night The Cure was either recording or on tour. I think on tour because there was a tour bus involved. I felt a little heart pang of sadness because Robert was not being very visible. I wanted to connect with him, but it was seeming like he wasn't available for some reason or another. I got glimpses of sound checks, with him all made-up, wearing flirtatious smiles, but not being really deep, even though I could sense that he was just hiding his depth for publicity reasons.

I liked the dream where I was putting my arm around his waist better. :-)  :heart-eyes
Title: Cure Dreams
Post by: tanyasmith on August 30, 2018, 06:57:08
I was searching for the page where Dsanchez started a discussion on Cure dreams, but I couldn't find it, so here's a new topic page.

I dreamt last night that The Cure was at a ranch or farm, a place that was vast, mostly outdoors, and covered in hard dirt. They were playing part of the time, but mostly wandering around the ranch among thousands of fans, or in private quarters. I was trying to be near Robert Smith, and at times was, but then couldn't find him. At one point Simon came and talked to me. Then they were playing on a small stage and I didn't realize it at first, like I was looking for something other than a concert, but when I realized I should be paying attention and appreciating their music, I tried to. At some point I was holding a purple, suede cowboy kind of a hat, really cute, round and sturdy. It had some notes that Robert had written in it, but I didn't believe they were really his and I didn't recognize the writing.

Not sure what it all means, but I'm searching for that purple, suede hat to buy because it seems like it's going to be very comforting to wear! I know that purple is the color of the crown chakra, is associated with intelligence, with amethyst, and of course a hat is for wearing on the crown...So cool symbols. Maybe the writing I found in the hat is a symbol that Robert's writing.

Anybody else had any Cure dreams lately?

:heart-eyes Tanya

Yes, a purple hat was not something I was expecting to find, but finding one to wear just seems like a really good idea now. I think a wide-brimmed, kind of conventional hat in purple suede would be ideal. I found this one already. And it's second hand, so no animals have to be harmed:

It was all purple in the dream, so I'm hoping to find one that's solid purple.

I had another Cure dream last night! I was hosting a party of hundreds of people at my home in honor of The Cure. I was living in a mansion. The media was there and hundreds of Cure fans, some wearing matching Cure t-shirts. We were all waiting for Robert Smith to arrive, but it was getting late and he wasn't showing up. Most of the guests began to leave. It was a beautiful dream with a midnight, starry, watery feel to it. I felt a deep sense of love and passion. Robert didn't appear for the guests, but I was with him alone. I think he was wearing a black leather jacket when I saw him. His spirit was deep and melancholy, very emotional. He was very sensitive and seemed ambivalent. I think I was comforting him.

Anybody else?

I had a dream about two nights ago that I lived near a venue! One day I was walking home past the venue, and I had seen a lot of people outside with cure merch. So like posters,
books, etc. I asked someone who was playing and he said "The glove" I remember screaming in excitement that they were playing only for him to tell me he was joking. So I walked back later on only to hear a cover band playing but they didnt wanna let me inside, and I was yelling at them "TOLHURST COULD BE IN THERE"

I had a rather interesting unexpected dream about Robert last night, it's the first dream I've remembered in a while. We were at a garden party late into the night. We were all enjoying ourselves, dancing and talking and then, well, the rest I will not mention :rofl :rofl

I woke up laughing.

Sounds fun, Chemicaloverload! Although the truth is that I will never ever listen to more than one word or chord of a Marilyn Manson song.

I had a dream as well. It was one I've had before, at least in the same location. It was in a smallish amphitheater with red seats. I recognized a smiling guy who was collecting little pieces of paper from audience members. The Cure was taking a while to come out. Then some people from behind the scenes came and rearranged the audience. I moved from where I was sitting to very close to the front row. Robert Smith came out for like half a minute, as if doing a sound check or something, looked at the audience, but then disappeared quickly. Then some performers came out on stage to do an advertisement and the audience was told to respond in a way to show viewers at home that we were into what we were watching. There were even paid audience members brought in, wearing business clothing. I had the sense that The Cure didn't approve of using the fans to do this and hadn't fully given approval. Then the advertisement was over, the stage was cleared and the audience went back to normal. The Cure had not come out by the time I woke up.

Hahaha that's good to know, should I ever turn up somewhere with MM in tow  :rofl Oh the things your mind does to you when you sleep. I read somewhere that dreams help us to live with trauma, by dreaming about it, we are reliving it and it's supposed to help it us accept it so we can move on from it in real life.

Awww you're very welcome. I was pleased to see you and I really do hope that it will become a reality at some point :) Until then, the dreams will just have to do.

It was as if the people producing The Cure show were using Cure fans to experiment on or for other purposes unrelated to The Cure. Kind of like when you give your email out for one purpose and it's sold to a bunch of vendors. It was as if the ticket agency was using Cure fans to promote outside interests or something. Anyway,  I got the feeling that The Cure and/or Robert Smith didn't approve of Cure fans being used like that, maybe didn't have the guts to speak up against it or maybe didn't know that the audience would be used for outside purposes.

I have been dreaming about The Cure for so many years! I didn't pay attention to most of my dreams about them until a couple years ago. One of the most interesting was when I dreamt last year that they were going to be playing in Orange (that's the county in California where I live, Orange County) and the next morning I woke up and had an email from my sister that The Cure in Orange was going to be playing in Hollywood with Lol Tolhurst giving a Q&A. I know not all of my Cure dreams are prescient, but some of them are.

This video made it to 100,000 views today! I had no idea these little rusty videos would make a dent, but I'm grateful. <3 Hope you like it.

Awww, Twin Peaks. Dreams seem to be a mixture of meaninglessness and meaningfulness. I guess it depends what state of mind we're in when we're having the dreams. Taking a b-12 tablet sublingually before bedtime can enrich the dream life. B-12 helps improve our mood, memory, and feelings, so maybe it helps us to feel clearer as we dream and also remember dreams better.

Last night I dreamt that I was with Robert Smith and handed him two small cards and asked him to autograph them for me. When he handed them back I noticed he'd written three telephone numbers on the cards. I think the area codes were (703) on all three numbers. (I just looked up 703 and it took me to Virginia in the USA. Then I googled 703 England and guess where it took me to? 703 England Street in Ashland, Virginia! So let's watch and see if there is any Cure activity in that region). In the dream I called one of the numbers and it was a radio station. The man who answered the phone gave me a number to reach Robert, I think...The other two numbers on the cards seemed like they were just leads, so I called the number the radio guy gave me and Perry Bamonte answered. I wondered why Robert was directing me to Perry. As I talked to Perry we set up meeting after the sound check of a Cure concert, at 10 PM at night, an hour before the show was to start at 11 PM.

I had a Robert dream last night. He came up to me at a show and said something about my make-up. I was hardly wearing any, and I don't remember what he said about it, but I got a lot of footage of The Cure performing and was really excited to make videos out of it to share with other Cure fans. Then I realized I hadn't started working on editing the footage and it was already a day after the show and I was worried that it wouldn't get seen. (I noticed after going to Cure shows and uploading videos that it gets more views if uploaded as soon as possible rather than later, as if most fans only search for a couple days after a big show, so maybe I was just processing some delayed anxiety about that from past shows).

It was really nice to dream about Robert, always good to wake up knowing I've dreamt about him and The Cure. For me The Cure is like water, really magical and inspiring, especially beneath the surface. I sing a song to myself and I'm in Cureland. Today I was singing "between you and me" from Bloodflowers, absorbing the sweet feeling of anything being between me and Robert Smith.  :heart-eyes :heart-eyes :heart-eyes It's sometimes a dilemma to be so in love with my soulmate but to also have a deep crush on Robert Smith. I wonder, what if Robert took me out on a date? How would I explain that to my significant other? And would one date be enough? Oh yeah, and then there's Mary...Ha ha ha. We loyal, faithful people only fantasize about cheating on our spouses/lovers/partners and even feel guilty for just imagining!

I feel this faith that someday I'll meet Bob, but most likely it will be when I'm not expecting it.

Does anybody else hear Cure songs almost everywhere they go? This happens so often. I walk into a cafe and Just Like Heaven starts to play, or Lovesong or Boys Don't Cry or Friday I'm in Love. It happened when I was visiting the White Cliffs of Dover, just a couple days after the Anniversary show in Hyde Park. I walked into a grocery store to buy some crackers and Just Like Heaven started to play. Here in California, too, so often that it feels very special.

Picture is from a recent swim. I love to take pictures underwater with a dress on.

Tanya, your discussions about love have stirred me to share this:

"To love someone, even in the usual human manner, is to get a brief, dim glimpse of something within that person which is tremendous, awe-inspiring and eternal. ...we think that this "something" is unique. He or she, we say, is like nobody else. That is because our perception of the Reality is clouded and obscured by the external manifestations - the character and individual qualities of the person we love - and by the way our own ego-sense reacts to them. Nevertheless, this weak flash of perception is a valid spiritual experience and it should encourage us to purify our minds and make them fit for that infinitely greater kind of live which always awaits us. This love is not restless or transient, like our human love. It is secure and eternal and calm. It is absolutely free from desire, because love and beloved have become one". p31-32
- Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood, 1953, from a book in which they were discussing the yoga aphorisms of Patanjali.
❤️🌸💕

This is certainly a teaching I've been trying to integrate into my life, as yes I have certainly at times found myself staring Googly-eyes towards RS before I catch myself and bring myself back to Reality 😆  I found something that helped me was not to cut-off from the loving feelings I may have towards a specific form, but to instead expand the feelings while also letting go of preconceptions and beliefs (incl who I am, who the other is, what love itself is etc etc ...just let it all go, and love) ❤️

Very timely, Word on A Wing! I just watched a couple videos on Karl Jung and the archetypes, shadow, anima/animus last night. And I've been practicing yoga for 20 years, so resonate with the words you've quoted and your after thoughts. I discovered a few years ago that Robert Smith is my animus. My godfather, who I loved dearly as a child, is also named Bob, is also a Taurus like RS and also played guitar in a band and sang. When I was 14 years old I fell in love with Robert Smith and devoted my life to him and The Cure as much as I could for where I was in life and the resources I had. The devotion manifested itself as an onslaught of posters, collages, collections, t-shirts, stickers, magazines, gothic clothes, and even intense arguments with my mom who fought with me to go to bed if a RS/Cure interview was on the radio too late at night. I dreamed of marrying Robert, even though I did have pictures of Mary on my wall, too. :-) My mom told me that I was just looking for a father replacement to the less than satisfactory father I had, which stung and hurt to hear. Still, it was at 14 that Robert and Mary met, as I had read in interviews, so I knew that real love feelings could exist at that age. By the time I was out of High School, (1997) I let go of the obsession, giving away almost everything I had collected to a co-worker's girlfriend who was mildly interested in The Cure. I think I was trying to give her my obsession so that I could pursue a healthier lifestyle. I got into running, practicing yoga, a vegan, plant-based diet, and started going to the beach again. I started dating, and believe it or not had my first serious relationship with a Taurus Englishman named Paul whom I had met at the bookstore we both worked at. He was from Essex and very ingrained in the British culture, drinking tea several times a day and taught me British words and customs. By then I'd only go back and listen to The Cure on occasion, but didn't get back into them fully until 2015. And since then I've felt devoted again, but not obsessed anymore, just "love" as you say. Love.

Here's another focus of my love, my baby nephew who I call "Boop." And my soulmate who travels with me to Cure shows.

I had another Robert dream recently (have had many actually, but this one stood out): The Cure was about to perform. It was a small place, as it usually is in my dreams, and I was looking for a seat, feeling overwhelmed when I realized there was a long line of people and I thought I'd been at the front, and I was going to have to go get in line and most likely not have a good spot to see the show. Then, suddenly, Robert called my name. He said "Tanya." I was stunned. Then he asked me how San Juan Capistrano was (that's the town I grew up in) and it made me realize that he knew who I was. He seemed like he had to go, but then he stayed and let me throw my arms around him in a big hug. He seemed sad, tentative, but sturdy. I looked at him in all his "bearness" and wondered if I really was in love with him as I thought I'd been. He was just a man, not a very happy man, but very kind.

This dream has stayed with me. It's wonderful to be able to just think of Robert Smith and feel so good.

Unfortunately my dream phases are interrupted every now and then, but today I dreamed of Robert.😀 The scenery: a picnic in the park. A third person was also there, but I didn't recognize him/her. He was like always, all in black, very friendly. In the end he did push-ups (!). Before that we walked around and talked - health issues. Then the dream was unfortunately over.

Funnily, I hardly ever seem to dream about anyone "real" - not people I know, let alone famous people.  My dreams are generally peopled with strangers, although after nearly 13 years of marriage, my subconscious is finally registering my husband and popping him into dreams alongside me a fair bit, often in alternative reality dreams.

Unless we count Donald Duck, I've only had two dreams involving figures from the arts that I can remember.  I had one of those as a teenager, and dreamt I was riding my horse through the Swiss Alps en route to Bunbury, Western Australia (geography becomes rather convoluted) in order to attend a U2 concert held at a local pre-primary school (!!!) there.  It was an acoustic set, but attended by so many pre-schoolers it was surreal, and I was becoming concerned about the political indoctrination of minors in this dream.

And then, a few years ago, I dreamt that I was working on an article dressed in pyjama bottoms and "normal" top as is my usual officewear, when there was a knock on the door.  I padded through the corridor barefoot to see who it was, and inexplicably found Mr and Mrs Smith outside our front door.  We live in the middle of nowhere and while people used to get lost in places like this, nowadays GPS is common and that makes it really unusual.  Anyway, I was suffering from cognitive dissonance at this development, and reflexively offered a cup of tea, which is a very reliable kind of autopilot-cum-social norm.  The cup of tea was accepted and as I was ushering the visitors in, I became horridly aware that the pyjama bottoms I was wearing had a large-ish hole in them at the back, and ended up reversing along the corridor - the very idea of turning around was unthinkably embarrassing - while calling to my husband, "Bre-ett, please put the kettle on, I have to go change my pants!"

And that was the end of that dream, so I'm sorry I've got nothing more exciting to report...  I'm far more likely to dream about haunted houses, and Brett about space aliens...

Last night, I had a dream in which The Cure did have a rather remote, cartoonish minor part. My husband and I were travelling on a bus somewhere in the West Australian countryside, sitting about a third of the way along on the left-hand side. The Cure were about two-thirds back on the right-hand side, and the rest of the bus was filled with 10-to-12-year-olds like it was some kind of school camp and we were the supervising adults.

I only vaguely registered that The Cure were there when I turned my head to survey the back of the bus. I thought it was a bit strange - what on earth were they doing on this bus? And how on earth had they gotten into Australia, seeing as the borders have been closed for over a year? Then I remembered that various people had gotten in on special permits in order to take part in reality TV shows, most infamously an insufferable loudmouth right-winger woman from the UK who mercifully got thrown right back out again for being horrible to quarantine staff. I couldn't imagine The Cure on one of those brain-dead programmes. So maybe they were here as a sort of cosmic neutralisation force for that particular thing that should never have happened in the first place. Who knew.

Music was playing on the bus, whatever it is pre-teens listen to nowadays - the current equivalents to The Spice Girls and Britney Spears, I suppose - just that kind of cartoon music. We'd been listening to it for hours and then the bus driver let Brett and me choose a song. I can't remember what we picked, but I clearly remember a queue of urchins with serious, entreating faces immediately lining up to see me. I said to them, "No! Forget it! You had your own music for hours and you're having it again, but you are just going to have to wear this one song and that's not too much to ask."

The Cure were much quieter than the children on the bus and minding their own business. At some point I wondered if they'd been recruited to give music lessons to the children but it was all a big mystery. And then I woke up.

I dreamed that RS would perform his new (solo) album live. Not on stage, but in a house. I was holding a flyer with eight titles on it - a bit strange, but the very first of them was unmistakably him or The Cure, although the group itself was not involved. He didn't use guitars. Mainly electronic sound generators.
So I think only a few will have liked it. Again, I was there with someone I didn't recognize - my soulmate maybe ?! In the end, RS came up to us in the hallway and I gave him a thumbs up. Even stranger: the house was demolished afterwards. OMG ...😱
