4. disintegration (live in leipzig 1990)

I heard it for the first time yesterday on youtube. Wow. Explosive live version. Never heard it played like that before. Made me see the song in a completely different light. It's silly, but quite a few times when I've listened through the Disintegration album, I've skipped that song, or only listened to parts of it, because of Robert's brutally honest lyrics. Right now, this live version is definitely in my top 20.

It is too difficult to narrow down one favorite song by The Cure, for I think everything is fantastic in its own realm. I can maybe narrow down a favorite song from each album (excluding b-sides, best of compilations, live versions, etc.) but this will be quite hard.

Three Imaginary Boys-Boy's Don't Cry
Secrets-Seventeen Seconds
Other Voices-Faith
A Strange Day-Pornography
Lament-Japanese Whispers
Bird Mad Girl-The Top
Close To Me-Head on the Door
All I Want-Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
Homesick-Disintegration
Open-Wish
The 13th-Wild Mood Swings
Watching Me Fall-Bloodflowers
Anniversary-The Cure
TBD-

5 (very) personal favorites  somehow couldn't do without:

2 late
jumping someone else's train
a short term effect
homesick
push

but that aside, i think their all-time best song has to be 'a forest'...
Ay, in the very temple of Delight
Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine

pyota

if pressed i would have to chose the same deep water as you. other faves include bloodflowers, the drowning man, a chain of flowers, the figurehead, fight, apart ... so many more

moutheyesheart

it changes from time to time, but I'll try:

1. Underneath the stars - the song I always waited for...

2. Scared as you

3. A chain of flowers

4. Disintegration
5. A strange day
6. Waiting
7. Plainsong
8. Faith
9. Truth, goodness & beauty
10.The figurehead
11.Want
12.Maybe someday
13.Just one kiss
14.Last dance
15.Trust
16.Lost
17.End
18.The same deep water as you
19.The kiss
20.10:15 Saturday night

All these songs are either sharing the ability to take me to a place, I'd rather be OR they simply know me. Almost every Cure-song is capable of doing that in fact, but most of them are bound to a special mood or situation. these ones always do.

Well, there's quite an eclectic choice, that one. I guess probably there are very specific personal reasons for each one of them, but don't worry, I won't be asking for you to reveal them...

Agreed 100%. See? It happens, sometimes.
