I asked my Irish friend Jarlath where The Cure could be playing and he said this:

"I'm thinking Kilmailham. Nick Cave played this year, it's a one day/evening outdoor event, started around 6 till 11 June. That's what I'm hoping".

By the way, for those asking if this will be a "The Cure ONLY show"...: it won't be. The promoter who is organizing The Cure's show also organized Gorillaz's gig this year in the same venue and nearly in the same date. Gorillaz had three support bands (https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/entertainment/heres-the-support-acts-for-gorillaz-gig-at-malahide-castle-829527.html) (De La Soul, Little Simz and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble) and the show was part of the Malahide Castle Concerts (https://fingal.ie/news-and-events/events/malahide-castle-concerts-2018/), so you can expect The Cure to have also several support bands. I hope 65DOS, Ride and Slowdive will open ;)

Yes, this is also a Festival even if you don't see the name "Festival" in the title. However, this seems a one-stage festival, sort of like the Milano 2012 one (which was amazing!)

They simply don't update their website as often as their Facebook/Twitter accounts (where all the other 2019 shows are already published). By the way, if you see a gig in this section of this forum, IT IS definitely confirmed!

See you in Dublin? ;)

Ah ok thx, I have neither FB nor Twitter..
Still in doubt whether I am going to Dublin or not because I can choose budgetwise 1 venue in and 1 out of Belgium to go see The Cure. This one is very tempting because it is in a castle  :heart-eyes
Obviously deciding before Wednesday!

When I first heard of the venue I imagined it being in the castle (though my brain couldn't quite comprehend this), then I had a look at photos of other concerts that have been there: they have been outdoor concerts on the grounds/lawn with the castle in the background.  ...ahh that makes more sense.  Either way it will likely be awesome!

...just awaiting now some Australia dates (I will likely keep saying this until some Australia dates are announced !  ...perhaps should just add it is as a permanent footer that will appear at the bottom of all the comments I post  :D

It is not really IN a castle... is more in the gardens/outside the castle. This is a clip from Gorillaz's concert last year in the same venue:

Does anyone know about selling tickets to this show? Is there a problem for the buyer given the name of the original ticket holder is printed on the ticket? I am considering selling two tickets because the accommodation in Dublin is crazy expensive.

7.3 You may not resell or transfer your Tickets if prohibited by law. In addition, Event Partners may prohibit the resale or transfer of tickets for some events. Any resale or transfer (or attempted resale or transfer) of a ticket in breach of the applicable law or any restrictions imposed by the Event Partner is grounds for seizure or cancellation of that Ticket without refund or other compensation.

BUT;

(b) you have transferred the Ticket to another person using our "Ticket Transfer" functionality (if available); and/or

So what you'll need to do is check there is a 'ticket transfer' function and that way you might be able to transfer it to another. Contact ticketmaster to see if this can be done. They started printing names to get around people upselling tickets on other sites for crazy prices. Same in Glasgow.

All we know so far (https://www.facebook.com/fingalcoco/photos/a.292999020755814/2128437230545308/?type=3&theater) is that the gates will open 16:00 and everything will be over by 22:35. We still don't have the detailed program of the day but will post it as soon as we know. The order will be the one described in the flyer (http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=8846.msg768777#msg768777): just mustard, The Twilight Sad, Ride and then The Cure.

Been a fan for quite some and also knew this forum but up until now not a member but with these summershows coming up it was time to join. :smth023  Thnakx for the info. Will be staying in the citycentre and was just checking the travelroute to the castle. Irish Rail/DART I found out. They go quite often and also after concert returning back to the centre, but there was no option for buying a ticket. Are trains already full or can you buy a ticket at the station like Pearse or Tara Street?

There is definitely an option to buy tickets (http://journeyplanner.irishrail.ie/webapp/?REQ0JourneyStopsS0A=1&HWAI%3DJS%21js=yes&HWAI%3DJS%21ajax=yes&REQ0JourneyStopsZ0A=1&#!start%7C1!REQ0JourneyStopsS0G%7CMalahide!REQ0JourneyStopsS0ID%7CA=1@O=Malahide@X=-6156288@Y=53450687@U=80@L=6000057@B=1@p=1557072126@!REQ0JourneyStopsZ0G%7CDublin!REQ0JourneyStopsZ0ID%7CA=1@O=Dublin@X=-6259332@Y=53347707@U=80@L=9909002@B=1@p=1557072126@!journey_mode%7Csingle!REQ0JourneyDate%7C08/06/2019!REQ0JourneyTime%7C18!Number_adults%7C1!Number_children%7C0!Number_students%7C0). I've forgotten how to start a new topic on this website, as it has changed a little bit, but here it seems slightly appropiate:

I am going to see the imaginary boys at Malahide Castle, I was wondering if anyone met any roadies and got some weird story or any inside knowledge about how they run gigs (like now, since they have different roadies since the Les Enfants du Rock and Play Out documentaries) and stuff behind the scenes. (I'd love to be one of those extremely annoying concert goers and ask for a pick...) but I'd say the 'best' way of meeting The Cure is at the airport, which is where most fans on this site have met them at. Has anyone tried to be sneaky or met them before or after around somewhere backstage? (Don't worry, I won't do this, just curious) I love hearing stories from other Cureheads. All I know of is Gary Biddles, and he isn't even alive anymore! And (Paul?) Corkett, their current (sound engineer?) I've read about their crew from past tour programmes, but is it still more or less the same?

Probably easier at their hotel, at an European airport I find it very difficult because there are dozen of flights every time.

I thought to see a kind of a schedule with 4.45 PM Just Mustard, 5.45 PM Twilight Sad and 6.45 PM Ride before The Cure go on stage from 8 till 11 PM :smth023

My trip started bad. Arrived to the hostel and there was a note "for reasons beyond our control the hostel will be closed from 31st May". Of course I never got a notification about it! I was lucky enough to find a nice room in Bray (20km south of Dublin) for tonight for 55 EUR (a single room in Dublin was about 200 EUR the night). Still deciding where to sleep tomorrow.

I am right now on my way to Bray, plan to take a shower, take a nap and head back to Dublin for the fan meeting.

@x-phile when you arrive to Dublin just buy a return train ticket to Malahide in the nearest train station, it should cost about €7. In the end, tonight I will be staying in Swords, a town close to Malahide and the airport.

Ahh, your so lucky! Some fans got to meet Jason aswell, I saw him testing his drum kit while the Twilight Sad where getting ready. Malahide was my first time seeing The Cure! I'm still in awe and it's Tuesday now. The crowd was a bit anxious and rough, my Dad had to kind of push off a few guys trying to push me out of the way as I'm younger. We where there since the gates opened, I think we kind of deserved our spot... also an American man came up to me and ask me if I was a youtuber that made videos about Robert (?!) He was really nice though. I made a poster with lyrics from 'Mint Car' on it, so if anyone saw a poorly put together black/ or white poster that was me. Reeves gave me a nod, so I think it got approved? Sorry I know this was long but I'm just so happy to have seen them ♡ !  I hope the band come back and play the 3Arena or something...

but I'd say the 'best' way of meeting The Cure is at the airport, which is where most fans on this site have met them at.

Probably easier at their hotel, at an European airport I find it very difficult because there are dozen of flights every time.

The Cure at Malahide Gardens, Ireland
by dsanchez

The trip started very bad. Upon arrival to Dublin (my first trip to that city) a warning sign in front of the door of the hostel where I was supposed to stay read "For reasons beyond our control the hostel is not longer working from 31st May". It was Friday 7th of June, a day before the first gig of The Cure's European Tour 2019, which was going to take place in Malahide, 30km north of Dublin.

To make things worst, my phone battery died and I had to go to the nearest coffee shop to drink something and have somewhere to charge it. I looked for options and the only thing I found for that night was a room in Bray, 20km south of Dublin. After taking a train, I walked by the beautiful Irish sea and found the accommodation ran by an old, friendly Irish man. Took a shower, took a nap. I was exhausted. I was travelling from 5:00 and it was already 19:00. I slept an hour and then headed to the fan meeting in Dublin, and it was great. I met several fans and some known faces, and the DJ played some very good songs, mix of dark and pop-ones. The wall of the pub were also properly decorated (see attachments). I was happy that I went there. The funny thing of that night is that I was introduced to a certain Craig with whom I chatted and had a few beers. The day later, I found out in my emails that it was him who sold me the ticket for the Malahide gig! When I discovered this and made him aware of that on WhatsApp, he wrote back "f*ck man, that is sooo weird".

For Saturday I arranged an AirBNB in Swords, a very well located town, near both Malahide and the airport. Arrived there around 15:00, took a nap, took a shower and then headed with other fans (that were staying at the same place) to the gig. Upon arrival, I met some fans from the previous night. The 'Malahide Gardens' were beautiful, like from a fairy tale. We walked for nearly 2km (if not more) of green paths and finally arrived to the concert place. Everything was properly organized and on top of that the weather was beautiful with the temperature around 25 degrees and the blue-sky contradicted my prejudice of Ireland being an always-rainy country. Met my good friends @Jojo denovan, Percy The Hedgehog and @erpomata. They were about 10m off the stage, in the right side (from the people's view). The Twilight Sad were great but Ride were even better! I was hungry, so after their show I decided to grab a bite. I bought a hamburger, coke and chips. The place started to get more and more crowded. The capacity was estimated in 20,000 people. The whole experience to me was WAY better than the Hyde Park festival last year, a gigantic event with more than 70,000 people, ridiculous prices and a horrible weather that day (it was extremely hot). It was about 20:00 of Saturday 8th of June and the world's best band was about to take the stage.

I went back to my place together with Jojo, a friend of his from Gent, Belgium, a guy from Durham, England. Next to us, a read-headed girl with penetrating green eyes and Gothic look from Northern Ireland (whom I confused as Scottish, as her accent sounded a bit Glaswegian) was saying to us 'so you saw them 20 times, you 30 and you more than 100 times... you guys are insane!'

Hardcore fans knew what song was going to be the first when the first melodies started. Yes, the band kicked off their European Tour with "Shake Dog Shake". The same powerful sound, the same Simon moving around the stage like being in his mountain bike, the more quiet Reeves, always doing a great job on guitars. The same 'I don't give a f*ck' look of Roger and Jason always playing with a look of being under pressure. And of course there he is, with the look we all know and the same voice, Mr. Robert Smith. The band is in great shape and they show why they are capable of putting together different generations in one place. Because I saw all ages and families together, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons. Generations united by the power of music. And not just any music.

The band played some songs that they have been playing a lot in the last years, but Robert wanted this tour to be more diverse setlist-wise. And 'Last Dance' is included. And 'Wendy Time' (first time live since 1992) is included. When the band played that song, I couldn't but remember the secret gig from 1991 and me watching again and again the 'Play Out' video as a money-less teenager. That video starts with this song. Suddenly, I realized I am old and time flies. Soon I will be sixty and probably there won't be The Cure anymore.

'39' is also included. Already three songs that I never heard before. The mainset (http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=8846.0) was powerful, with a good variation to the setlist's order compared to previous shows that, in my opinion, pays off. Reeves's guitars work perfectly in songs such as 'Fascination Street', 'Never Enough' or 'Wendy Time', but not too much in 'new wave' songs such as 'A Night Like This'. Jason playing cymbals (why?) at the beginning of the same song doesn't help either. With nostalgia, I remember the incomparable version of this song in Orange. There has never been again a version like that.

The highlights for me were 'High', 'Burn', 'Push' (maybe my favorite Cure song), 'One Hundred Years', 'Want' and the three previously mentioned. Robert cried during 'One Hundred Years'. The 'Pornography' era was a very 'dark' time  he said (http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=8959.0) once. After this song, the band went for a short break. In front of me, a man in his early 30's is holding his girlfriend while yelling "f*ck off" to a guy who wanted to get to the first row without even asking "please". I saw the very same scene with other people repeated 2 or 3 times more. There were some very hostile people in the audience. Thankfully, things didn't get worst.

The first and final encore was a pop one (which I could totally live without) but I understand we are in a Festival and Robert needs to please the masses and not just the people from curefans.com. I told @u-a-b-f (whom I met after the show) that such encore is inevitable in such shows. When the band played 'Why Can't I Be You', a flashback again and I missed that powerful version from 'Show' and remembered when Porl and Simon kissed during the song. The band closed the show with 'Boys Don't Cry' which I think is the best Cure song to close a festival. Robert left the stage with a smile on his face. Looking how much he enjoys doing this, I can easily see him doing The Cure for many more years to come.

Leaving the festival was a pain. I missed @x-phile because he was supposed to take the train to Dublin right after the festival. We walked more than 3km to exit the gardens. Everything went in order, but it was a never ending road. @Jojo denovan and me went to Malahide (town) and bought a sandwich and a milk with chocolate at a gas station. It was more than 23:00 and the little town was inundated by people with Cure t-shirts and some guys with red-lipstick. The night would not end there, as we headed to the strategically located 'The Grand Hotel Malahide' where Jojo and several other fans were staying. To our surprise, it was the same hotel were the band was staying! In the hotel bar we saw Simon, Reeves and Roger having a drink with other people in a table. Some fans approached them, Roger ignored some of them (typical of him, as I read (http://curefans.com/index.php?topic=587.0)) but Simon was more friendly. Shortly afterwards Jason stopped by and I made some pics of him with other fans. In the bar, a man with a George Washington's look passed almost unnoticed by pretty much every The Cure fan around me, but not for me: It was My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields. The mastermind behind of one the best musical albums in history, Loveless, was right in front of me and I couldn't waste the chance to have a chat with him and take a pic. He was there because he attended the show and was on his way to have a chat with Robert (I dream of a collaboration between those two!). What a weekend it was, hotels cancelled, my debit-card pretty empty, trying to get for two hours a taxi to get back to my accommodation (everyone was doing the same at the same time, I guess) but musically speaking, it was a top-notch experience.
