I just saw this on their FB page and had to read it three times to believe it! I am really going to try to get to the Chicago show (I live in Kansas City).

So happy right now!

Hope to go to the Los Angeles date. More dates to come in January?  Maybe they can come back to Bottlerock in Napa to finish WCIBY & Boys Don't Cru encore :D  :smth020

While I'm skeptic about any new stuff, there is still some hope left that they might have a new album (or EP or...) finished until this tour is going to start!

It's good to finally have official news from the band after so many months... However, not as great news as one would expect, because I think this is going to be a greatest hits (sort of) tour. And why?

It's not probable it's going to be the promised Trilogy tour, since this has too many dates (25). It's also not probable this is going to be a tour to promote a new album, since the band members have been too busy with their own personal projects to be able to compose / record a new album. Also, if this was an album tour it would be a world one, not just North America, right?

Well, your guess is as good as ours!

While this has been announced as a US tour, there is still a (slight) possibility of tour dates in other countries / on other continents. Also, this year still has almost 3 months left, which (in theory) could be used for recordings (as well as the first few months of 2016)... you never know...

At last some news! Sadly, no European dates in the horizon. I wonder what Bob has planed? The flyer reminds me a lot of 4:13 Dream (but hopefully they won't play many songs of that album). As for the support band, never heard of them.

(https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/12065692_10153072837921402_1344757577724738361_n.jpg?oh=2201862cd1795eead56797489519e1a8&oe=5696BE2B&__gda__=1452646946_97c491939ef011c81ffc01d449cc0499)

When was the last time The Cure toured so many dates in a continent? 25 dates seem quite a lot.

Yes indeed.I could only point out some vague ideas ten months earlier
(What are your Cure hopes for 2015?).No one expected that tour, even committed US fans.
I believe the main objective is to promote The Twilight Sad in the US.I can't see another reason
so far, though I know The Cure is always good for surprises.

Don't care if it's a Trilogy show or a 'Hits' tour or what.  Just Yahoo!!!!  First chance to see them since 1992, of course they'll be a little different...  I've seen photos promoting the tour, photos of the 2008 band, of the 2004 band, has there been a line-up change?  I know there hasn't, but you'd think there'd be some sort of announcement as to who is in the band at this time.  I know Robert doesn't really care what the press knows or thinks, the fans are generally knowledgeable (generally...).  Looking forward to having a chance to see a show (after such a looooooooooooooong time).

They (we) have!  Selling out New York and Los Angeles (and maybe even Chicago) is impressive, and I'd really like to see some numbers come in from the vast wasteland inbetween.  Looking forward to January.

I'm betting North America is the first leg.  It is unlikely going on impossible to expect this to be a 'Trilogy' tour, you're right there.  I'm still betting on a new album, they have had the better part of 2014-2015 to get it done.

It would make sense. With a US tour lined up and rumors of a European tour... it would sound like a good idea to keep it (relatively) quiet for 2015, then come back in 2016 with a new album & tour  :!:

Hi.  New here.  I notice that there are FAN PRESALE tickets.  Where can we get access to that?  Is there a fan club to join?  I'm a little confused of what pre-sale is and if there is any way I can do that for the Dallas show in 2016.  Thanks.

As yet unreleased tracks?  Hmm...

There's gonna be a real live Seattle show too, first in town since the Wish Tour.  There have been nearby and not-so-nearby shows since then but nothing actually IN Seattle.  Very likely be June the 1st since they ARE doing consecutive night shows and Vancouver is on the 31st and is much closer than Salt Lake on the 3rd of June.

I was wrong, they played in Seattle in December 1997 but I was not really paying attention at the time; 1993-1999 is my least favorite period/era.  After Bloodflowers was released the 'low points' have been almost non-existent.

The relevant part of this post follows...

This Seattle date is getting a bit worrying.  I'm not going to Canada to see them; crossing the border was a hell of a lot easier in 1981 than it is now.  For some reason, very little music makes it to Seattle these days, not sure if it's the promoters or the lack of a suitable venue.  The Cure at least announced their INTENTION to play here and that might have to be sufficient.  It sure is appreciated.  All we got recently was Billy Joel who now looks like Mussolini with hair plugs.  I didn't go, I can fall asleep at home thank you very much.  25 years ago we could see Nirvana three times a week in a tiny club for next to nothing.  Not to mention Soundgarden and Alice In Chains and Mudhoney, all of whom I despised.  Still do.  Times have changed!  Last show I saw was Black Sabbath with Dio shortly before he died, more than six years ago.  Before that, The Damned, Buzzcocks and Motorhead (over a period of years).  Johnny Rotten and PiL are playing (in two days) the same tiny venue I saw them in almost 35 years ago, so maybe things haven't changed that much after all.  The last lineup with Porl scheduled a Seattle date in late 2007 but canceled to finish the album and said 'sorry but we'll reschedule'.  They DID, but not Seattle.  Eighteen out of nineteen dates that got postponed were rescheduled in the original venue.  All but one.  One.  Guess who?  Instead they re-schedule as a festival date hundreds of miles away in the most godforsaken venue on the f***ing planet (apart from Altamont).  I don't care who plays there, they could announce 'An Evening with Beethoven and Mozart: Returned From The Dead For One Night Only' and I wouldn't go...  There's not enough room in the schedule to book a festival date, even if there were any on June 1st.  So we may yet miss out on this tour, which I believe will be their very last comprehensive 'world tour'.  A lot of the punk era guys are hitting and surpassing 60 years old;  Roger, Steve Jones, Captain Sensible, even Rotten himself in a few weeks.  Is there a home for OAPs?  ('p' for punk, obviously)  I don't want to lump Roger in with the punks, might be a better idea to say the guys that were forming bands in the late 70s/early 80s are starting to reach 60.  Except John Cooper Clarke who is coming up on 70.  Why the scene in Manchester in the 70s embraced a heroin user ten years older than they were is difficult to figure, but he's funny as hell so who cares?
