Title: Hi from quebec canada
Post by: Oh No on April 19, 2017, 19:10:48
Hi everyone. I'm new here but I've been a fan for some 23 years now. I never had friends who were cure fans like I am. And I'll say right away, I'm the kind of fan who loves The 13th! haha! It's the first video of them that I saw comming out and I was so thrilled! It sounded like The Top that I had just discoved and loved. I always loved their exotic and stange pop side. Robert has a way to make it his own. So anyone who loves Japanese Whispers/The Top/Standing on the beach b-sides/WildMoodSwings...? I mean, I love Faith/Pornography/Disintegration just as much, sometimes even more, but the fact that they have such a wide range of emotions to play with puts them on another level. Next to the Beatles or Bowie, rather than next to Joy Division. In my mind anyway.

Bonjour Oh No !
I agree with you, I like all the different facets of the group. And I'm one of those who love Wild Mood Swings !!

I have no problem with that, much as I like the deeper, melancholy side of The Cure, Robert has always been capable of writing a good "pop song"!
Of course, with The Cure even straight "pop" has a quirky or "strange" side.  ;) I remember seeing the video "The 13th" for the first time on tv with a good friend in England, just hours before going to see a Cure show (Earls Court, June 1st, 1996). She was a bit "taken aback" by Robert's role in this video, but when I told her that he's been married to Mary for many years, it was alright...

I like "The Top" and "Wild Mood Swings" too - both albums are very diverse and include many sides of The Cure (and that includes the "darker" side).  :smth023
