Trust...

This is what I found on Cof about the lyrics of Down Under (Thanks to COF  :smth023)

Down Under - 3:04

Around the sea-green pool we spin
Mermaids sing songs to pull us in
Trust me we're here, she slides up slow
To fallllllll down under

Her burning eyes, the only clue to
Who plays, what plays, round plays
You just blew my cue to drown (these tears?)
All in wonder

Oh I can't start, I smiled at her twice
Helpless (bids?)
And minds as blank with ice
Disguise the stroke, with tonsil out
To quote a number
Breathe in and breathe in
As long as you choose
Remember not all games are won
By the last one to lose

Turning tell him, here we break this
The trick is how to fake the first mistake
?????????????????, the easy choice
Too close to care how
Whispered songs and changing (stride?)
Day to night, and every wrong is right
Come dry your eye, bite my lip
We're almost there now
Breathe in and breathe in
As long as you choose
Remember not all games are won
Vanilla smile and a gorgeous strawberry kiss x

Well, those seem to be some pretty good lyrics... It's a pity that the music snippet that has been made available until now is not particularly promising.

Maybe Robert has been working harder on the lyrical department? NY Trip also had some interesting words...

KingOfSomeIsland

This is what I got, I think its pretty spot on

Around the sea-green pool we spin
Mermaids sing songs to pull us in
Just when we're here, she slides up slow
To fallllllll down under

Her burning eyes, the only clue to
Who plays, what plays, when plays
You just blew my cue to drown this there
All in wonder

Oh I can't start, I smiled at her twice
Helpless bids
And minds as blank with ice
Disguise the stroke, entice you out
To quote a number

Breathe in and breathe in
As long as you choose
Remember not all games are won
By the last one to lose

Remember...

Tear until his head we break and
trick is how to fake the first mistake
To rip and take, the easy choice
Too close to care how
Whispered songs and changing stride
Day to night, and every wrong is right
Come dry your eye, bite my lip
We're almost there now
Breathe in and breathe in
As long as you choose
Remember not all games are won

absolutely AMAZING song. Blows NY Trip and All Kinds of Stuff out of the water! I LOVE IT! Like something that could be taken straight off of Wish or Kiss Me only not over-polished like The Only One was.

Hmm... I think "disguise the stroke, entice you out" sounds as though it's correct, I mean, what would "disguise the stroke TONSIL OUT" mean??   I know Robert can write some ' out there lyrics', but tonsil out just doesn't sound right to me!!

by the way,
the song is beautiful and the lyrics are the best,so far.

the only trouble is that it sounds quite bad. mixed way too loud.

tigermilk

It's so very sweet

Thanks vey much KingOfSomeIsland - I think you've got it!!  :smth023

I've been listening to this on repeat all afternoon - LOVE IT!!  And I know I've said that about the other b-sides, and meant it, but this is gorgeous.  It's a beautiful track musically and lyrically.  I love the dream-like lyrics...there's a smile on my face as soon as it starts...

Actually, it's time like this I'm kinda glad my ear isn't great - I'm not letting the production get to me...

P.S.  Hey melly - welcome back!!!  Haven't seen you around in ages!!!

Well, the correct lyrics to the song have been posted in the Cure's official site, in the typical ALL CAPS Robert "handwriting" (  :-D ). They differ slightly from the ones already posted in this thread, so here they go:

AROUND THE SEA GREEN POOL WE SPIN
THE MERMAID SINGING SONGS
TO PULL US IN
TO SWIM WITH HIM SHE SLIDES UP SLOW
TO FALL DOWN UNDER

BRIGHT BURNING EYES THE ONLY CLUE
TO WHO PLAYS WHAT PLAYS WHEN PLAYS
YOU JUST BLEW MY CUE
TO DROWN HIS TEARS
FOR ALL IN WONDER

UNLUCKY START I SMILE
BUT TWICE IS HELPLESS
FIZZ DOWN NICE AS BLACK WITH ICE
DISGUISE THE STROKE
ENTICE THEM OUT
TO CALL THEIR NUMBER

LEAN IN AND BREATHE IN
AS LOW AS YOU CHOOSE
REMEMBER NOT ALL GAMES ARE WON
BY THE LAST ONE TO LOSE...

HER TAIL I TELL HIS HEAD WE BREAK
THE TRICK IS HOW TO FAKE THE FIRST MISTAKE
TO MAKE THEM TAKE
THE EASY CHOICE
TOO CLOSE TO CARE HOW

BUT WET SPOT SOMETIME CHANGES STRIPE
AND DAY TO NIGHT
IF EVERY WRONG IS RIGHT
I DRY YOUR EYE
YOU BITE MY LIP
WE'RE ALMOST THERE NOW

LEAN IN AND BREATHE IN
AS LOW AS YOU CHOOSE
REMEMBER NOT ALL GAMES ARE WON...

Correct lyrics from thecure.com but normal type  :smth023

Down Under

Around the sea green pool we spin
The mermaid singing songs
To pull us in
To swim with him she slides up slow
To fall down under

Bright burning eyes the only clue
To who plays what plays when plays
You just blew my cue
To drown his tears
For all in wonder

Unlucky start I smile
But twice is helpless
Fizz down nice as black with ice
Disguise the stroke
Entice them out
To call their number

Lean in and breathe in
As low as you chose
Remember not all games are won
By the last one to lose...
Remember

Her tail I tell his head we break
The trick is how to fake the first mistake
To make them take
The easy choice
Too close to care how

But wet spot sometime changes stripe
And day to night
If every wrong is right
I dry your eye
You bite my lip
We're almost there now

Lean in and breathe in
As low as you chose
Remember not all games are won...
and the way the rain comes down thats how I feel inside...
