Roger O'Donnell's "Love And Other Tragedies"
« on: December 19, 2013, 09:41:57 »
Roger keeps himself busy!
Recently I found out that I like the sound of piano + cello, so I guess this is one of his albums I'll buy.

A day in the studio with Francesca Ter-Berg recording Orpheus and Eurydice, part of the Love and Other Tragedies suite for piano and four cellos...

(For some reason there seems to be an error loading the video, so I put in the link to CoF. Or just click on the vimeo link.)

Found this at CoF:

From Roger on Facebook: "In other news... Julia Kent has finished playing her parts for our new record Love and Other Tragedies. Its now being mixed by the legendary Paul Corkett. I will master it at the end of January with any luck and then it goes to the vinyl plant in Germany. Would be nice to have an April release with shows in Los Angeles, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome. Anna Dorfman is working on the art and Im doing a photo shoot tomorrow in Sydney with Romain Duquesne a very talented photographer I met here. I am very excited about this news as most of you know this record has been a long time in the making and its completion is totally amazing.

Its the most moving, emotional music I have ever written and Im looking forward to letting you hear it."

Now you might wish you'd gone to this concert...

(If I lived anywhere close to London, I would have gone!)

I wish I were there too, so envious!
Lets my memory be perverted to the uses
Of lying and oppression.
My lovers and their children must not be dispossessed of me;
I would be the untarnished possession forever
Of those for whom I lived.
(Spoon River Anthology, E.L.M.)

can't believe I missed this, it's really beautiful. Here an interview with Roger and more:

Strangers passing in the street, by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me...
