It's the same place of the amazing U2's concert "Under A Blood Red Sky"... :smth049
Red Rocks is one place I've always wanted to see a concert. Being that I'm off work the day of The Cure's concert I've decided to make the trip and see a 6th concert this fall. This one is going to be pretty sweet :rocker
C'mon Brian! Only 2 more shows to catch up to me! :rocker

I've been following some of the threads for the European shows and the setlists seem very long...
I've never seen them before and would love for them to play a 3 hr plus set. Asinine local noise restrictions (especially at outdoor venues, like Red Rocks) cause a lot of bands to go offstage after 11 in the U.S.
Are the boys gonna be cutting the setlists short in the US portion of the tour?
It's hard to tell what will happen in the U.S. I'm trying to remain optimistic about things and would like to believe that we'll get three hour shows every night. Just not sure that will be possible with noise restrictions and curfews, though. However, The Cure have never been ones to shy away from breaking these rules and paying a fine. Something to note is the Download Festival from last October where they were given 2 1/2 hours I believe. Well, they went over that, playing the same basic set they've been doing in Europe. The main difference was 2 encores instead of three.
Wooow, just saw the pictures of the venue, AWESOME. Is there anything really around who would bother if they played even over midnight? By the look of it, looks like its in the middle of desert!

Desert? Nope, it's in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. But yes, it's definitely a remote location. Not sure why there would be a curfew there :?
I don't see the sets going much over 3 hours in the States, but I do think we'll get our three hour sets. At least for the shows I'm attending I'm invisioning things this way.
7-7:30pm 65dos
7:30-8pm-intermission
8-11pm-The Cure
It's actually right in the foothills of the rockies, kind of near Golden and the suburbs of western Denver. They usually end concerts there around 11 (A Perfect Circle had to end exactly at eleven ala curfew), but I've seen some DJs spin until 1 am as well. Not really sure what the exact rules are. Just hoping that The Cure come on around 830 to ensure a meaty set.
I just received an e-mail from the Guest Services Manager, Ron Garrison.
"At this point we do not have anything from the band that is a change
from our regular camera policy: Small personal cameras (no long or
detachable lenses) are OK, but no video and no professional still
cameras. If we learn anything differently, we will post that info on
the roads and at the base of the entry ramps and stairs. At this point,
it is up to the band to change this policy for their show.
Curfew: Normal park curfew is 11 p.m. on non-concert days. When we have
a concert, the concert is not curtailed to conform to a curfew. The
band plays until they are done!"
No curfew :D
UPDATE: "No weapons / bottles / cameras / recording equipment"
No cameras :(

Why is there such a concern over this? I've brought my camera into a ton of shows where there was a clear NO CAMERA policy written right on the ticket.
Ok, one time a cop slapped at my camera (and drove it into my face), but that was the only time I had an issue.

I'd really like to be able to shoot worry free. The less interaction I have with security the better ;)
That's weird - how the venue says their policy is ok with camera, but then they changed their position.
I wonder if this was influenced by the band? I have doubts about this, but then again I'm not sure.

The Guest Services Manager e-mailed back a second time saying he got the "runner" for the show giving specific information about what is not allowed for this event.

Am I the only one that is kind of frustrated that he's doing this to himself? I would rather have him reschedule 2 shows so he can rest his voice properly than have him damage it in the end and have bad shows for the rest of the tour.
I'm sure that the postponement last fall has alot to do with his decision to plow forward. The band loves and respects their fans, and I think it would take something huge for them to cancel a show a second time.
....still waiting?

Relax..it is only 8:45 locally where the show is!
Is there a delay on updating the setlist ?
I only see Underneath the Stars ?....
What a relief that Robert sounds better! He must be if he put Prayers for Rain on the setlist.
That´s a good news !!! but maybe is better for RS not to sing so loud for having a full healing on his voice.
Let´s face it, Robert, you´re singing as your best, but there is no reason to go further...you´re not on 20´s anymore....
It´s for your own good...and of course, for good of all of us.
:smth023
Plus that dry mountain air can't help him much. I think they should come play in Tennessee where we have humidity! ;)
The show is over. I am really looking for the news crowbi_wan will have for us 8)
Yes, i hope they can be able to send information soon.. :-D
I would like to have audio, video and pics of the show...
I can´t wait for listening this 2 new songs...
;)
Oh my, what a show! Robert's voice was still an issue, but he knows when to hold back and not over do it. Musically, these guys are killing it and I'm looking forward to the next eight shows regardless of what the setlist is. I actually got chills during FTEOTDGS. Yes, the song we've all heard a million times. That's one song that I've lobbied to be left off the setlist. But damn, If they play it as good as they did tonight, I say keep playing it. Porl is just bringing new life to that one as well as others. He was really on his game tonight. And kudos to the sound crew for the excellent mix! Keep that shit dialed in guys ;)
Having heard Maybe Someday and The Blood during the soundcheck, I figured they'd get played. Once inside the venue it was obvious about The Blood as Robert's classical guitar was propped up. Both were excellent. Again, Porl. Enough said :rocker He's now using an electric on The Blood and it works toa T. He's always shined during the solo, but it's just so in your face now with the electric.
I really couldn't have asked for a better crowd or spot. You Red Rocks guys are great. :smth023 The front section was into almost every song. Lots of hands in the sky down front. A group of five even had a Faith sign. I was right next to the mixing desk, left side, right behind the ambient mic. Hey, if they can put a mic there... 8) Anyway, the people around me were mostly quiet. I was able to snap a shitton of pics, though not too many of Simon. Well, I took a bunch of him, but there was a tall guy right in my line of sight with Simon's "standing" spot. I had to catch him while he was moving, which made for some blurry pics. Lots of good ones of Robert and Porl. Hey, even a few of that dude hitting the skins.
I can confirm that the opening song is called 'Underneath The Stars' and the closing number is 'Baby Rag Dog Book'. The engineer gave me a copy of the setlist (both main and encore). I also managed to take a pic of the Master song list. Some interesting surprises on that one like Siamese Twins, Same Deep Water, everything that was played in Miami and Mexico. I'll post pics of all this tomorrow after I get into SLC.
Setlist has been updated to include the new song titles and missing/unknown tracks.
Oh, an interesting note, no screens. The projections were shown on a rock behind the stage.
I also wanted to say how refreshing it was to hear If Only.. and not have The Kiss follow it up. Those two have been joined at the hip for some time now. Don't get me wrong, I would have LOVED to hear The Kiss. Just that change can be a good thing. Sort of like not getting A Forest for...what's it been, three shows in a row now? That's almost shocking!
A bit on the new songs, Underneath The Stars and Baby Rag Dog Book. I don't want to try and compare these two to other Cure or even other artists tracks. Best thing I can say is the first one is a great opener. Slow, dreamy, just perfect for some outdoor venues in the summertime. I think I know why they saved it until Kansas City and are planning to continue playing it for some shows now (My thinking is outdoor venues should get this one). This Baby Rag Dog Book is pure rock. One might say it's about the heaviest thing the Cure have done. It's a direction that some fans won't care for, but I really dig it. I'm not comparing it to Shiver and Shake, but think about how good that one sounds after One Hundred Years (they've done it a few times). It works well in the spot they are using it and look forward to seeing them belt it out again. It's mayhem and it sounds great!
Thanks BC. Glad to see that the moratorium on giving out the setlist lasted a whopping one show! :(

He had a stack, so I asked. He told me to hang on, went to give one to someone in the VIP area, then came back to give me one. Not sure what the deal was in KC. Maybe because of the new titles being listed? Perhaps RS didn't want them getting out?

What was up with the setlist that was on COF earlier? They made it sound like they played 5 new songs, plus everything they played in Kansas City.
There was supposedly even one between Plainsong and Disintegration.

I know, dude didn't know Pictures of You (had it listed as "?"). :? The setlist here IS correct. I'm looking at my copy now and can assure it is 100%
Was poor reception there apparently. Rather than ignorance, it was that a bunch of the messages went missing for varying periods of time or didn't arrive.
I'm still amazed at all the effort people are putting in to let those of us at home and on the other side of the world live vicariously, much appreciated!
Thanks a lot Crowbi_wan for the info, it´s exciting to wonder how the new songs sounds.

Question to the happy guys who have seen this song played live, what does Robert play ? A standard Ultra or his simili 6 string Ultra bass-like ?
I was at the show... it was a complete religious experience, for sure :-D Just wondering if anyone else that was there noticed the lightning over the city skyline during "Hot, Hot, Hot"? Talk about perfect timing. See, it proves it right there - - Robert IS a God ;) I don't recall seeing lightning at all during the rest of the show either... very odd, but completely amazing!!!!
