On friday next week the best band of the world is going to perform. Is anyone here going there?
I have a friend who works in the festival and I will TRY to get some pics, or bootleg the concert if possible :P
Hope so!!!
David.
I know Tristan is gonna see them in Berlin (Grrrr!!!!!) I'm so jealous!!!
I'm sure these summer shows are gonna be amazing!
I will wait after your pics and your commentaries !!! :D :D
i'm going to the berlin show
Yes, me too.
I'm looking forward to it. Further I hope that someone is recording a bootleg. It will be a great show, i know it! :D
Cheers, Tr#
Please... All this talk of possible bootlegs is getting me too excited!
i will be at the Lokeren show and i'll try to record it (not on DAT but mp3)
Quote from: smithai will be at the Lokeren show and i'll try to record it (not on DAT but mp3)
You mean record it with an mp3 player?
yes, it's the most propable thing
Quote from: Anonymousyes, it's the most propable thing
I'm assuming that's you, Smitha? :?
That's cool. Just curious. I wish you the best of luck, and enjoy the show! :D
yes it was me, sorry
i have no DAT recorder but i'm thinkig about buying a mp3 player Creative MUVO 1GB. Do you know it? what do you think?
I did some research on that unit. It seems like a very nice player. But I don't know about the recording aspect of it. They call it a "voice recorder", so I don't know how well it can handle music.
I know quite a bit about sound recording, but I've never attempted to record a concert. From what I've heard it's pretty difficult to get good results.
One thing I might suggest is to see if the Creative unit has a level input for the recorder. This is one part where tapers make a mistake a lot of the time. If it's set to high, the sound will be distorted. I think it's best to set the level low if you're unsure. You can always bring up the volume later, but you can't get rid of clipping and distortion!
I was just thinking... If you don't want to spend a lot of money, you might be better off just buying a Walkman type cassette recorder ? one with a level input. Lots of great boots were made with the old WM-d3 and d6 recorders. Of course the microphones they used could have had a lot to do with it, but maybe you'd be ok using the built-in mic.
Either way, I'd just give it a shot. Who knows, you might get lucky! :D
J-2 !!!! :D :D :D :D
oh, I wish I could go to these summer shows!!!maybe Saint-Malo but i'm not sure yet...

Really hope some great bootlegs will emerge to comfort me

You're absoloutly right so you don't have to be sorry
i'm turning really really sick.
This Athlete sound is not even a direct one. their performance was to be about 21:00pm, so what's the point? What about the Legendary the Cure?
still this let's us a chance they'll broadcast the rest of the gig later... but probably i won't be wake up to listen..
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, somewhere as background of a f@ckin interview...
Dam I just Missed it!
"Hits head against wall in frustration...then promtptly regrets it..."
Were Keys used? Or even on backing tape.,
Gutted i've missed it

I'm officially declaring that my computer has turned retarded on me. I still can't get the French broadcast to work, but I'm just glad some of us figured it out! :D

right, now i'm out, i think the broadcast has ended.
No more cure.
So we are hoping for some soft hearted fan to upload the gig  :D
i'm tired after a long day like this.
See you
Thanks you for all information tonight I'M WORKING !!!!
I was so unbeleivably pissed when those asses stopped playing the concert and started doing interviews etc. OMG!!! I was livid!!!!! Please, please someone get the entire show up!!!! Not in avi though! LOL!! I cannot play those for some reason!! Thank you so much in advance to whoever puts it up!
CureWhispers:
I bet the reason you can't play avi is becuase you need to get the DivX codec. Go to www.divx.com and look for it. If you need any more help, just ask.
P.S. I don't believe this was broadcast as a video... Benicassim 2002 was shown as a webcast, but the quality was terrible! :x
The concert is up already for you guys...I guess all of you have got the email already ;)
Enjoy :8
David.

Internet is wonderful :)
Not so good sound, but anyway!...I hope I will not be kicked from my job ...I have been with my head on Cure the whole day
Enjoy!
David.
Quote from: Tristan BerlinYou are wonderful
thank you friend, but now is not disponible :( :( :( :( :( , only download 3 song i dont know what is the problem.
the sound the guitar is very very power
i listen the blood woowowowowow
thanks for all your hard work guys, hopefully in time some decent audience recordings of this show will surface, very interesting setlist :D
I loved the guitar improvs Porl did on The Blood, Lullaby, etc. And The Baby Screams just rocked! Totally my style. :D The performance was a little rough at times, but that can be expected.
One thing that concerned me... Robert's singing was not very good at all. I hope this was a one time thing, and not something to do with "getting old". This happens to so many singers. He's maintained his voice so well all these years, but I've always wondered if he'd start to lose it someday.
He sounded much better on Live 8, so we can only hope.
Yes, I think it depends. The voice would never be the same as 92 but novadays the voice is even better than at some concerts in 1998.
Musically they are sounding better than the last years and this is Porls influence, without a doubt.
The setlist was really cool. For example "the blood", "at night" and "a letter to elise" - all songs they didn't play for such a long time. Really cool.
I liked the version of "lullaby", it was very special and we see, it even works without keyboards..
i really didnt know what to expect, so...damn! i was reading the setlist on cof: 'the blood', 'never enough', 'at night', all nice and pleasant surprises, along with 'the baby screams' back again. and then i saw 'signal to noise'...holy shit, unbelievable, i always loved this b-side and apparently so does robert. hell, when was the last time they played a b-side, eh? 'the big hand' a few times back in '92? but then i saw the real kicker...'a letter to elise', my favorite cure song, one i could never understand why it was played so rarely, with no indication ever of why. but, damn, its back, and i hope it stays back for the supposed tour next year. too damn bad the broadcast, and subsequent posted mp3s on cof, didn't include the whole show, especially 'signal to noise' and 'a letter to elise.' hope someone got a good recording and will put these up soon, simply dying to hear both.
I'm sure some audience recordings will surface eventually :)
I like all This tracks without keyboard :D :D
 Porl guitar hero
just heard the mp3s. uuhhhh! thanks robert for kicking out roger and perry! you ruined the (imo) perfect line-up for something like this? okay, it was the first gig and i hope you'll do more rehearsals! the cure need a keyboard and not a guitar-"hero" like porl. sorry...
I think Porls solo in the keyboard bit to Eotw was superb though i agree Roger really should be in the band, He's been a fantastic member for so many years.
Cheers dsanchez!
I'll wait to get Broadband installed to d/l it.
Great setlist!!!!!!
Luke x :P
The band sounded too "rock" for my taste. Altought it was good, I think the keyboards are definitely necesary  ...anyway, let's see what the next concerts have :)

I had only heard a few songs when I made my original post. I guess the singing wasn't all that bad. A few songs were pretty rough though.
Overall I really think they sounded fresh. Definitely different than anything we've heard before, which is good. If the lineup wouldn't have changed, I think these summer festivals would sound just like everything else they have been doing in recent years. :( I hope they decide to mix up the setlists a bit and give us some more surprises!
About the lack of keys, I think it is kind of cool to have a new sound. To me it is ok for now, but in a future tour they should add a new member again (and do whatever is in their power to keep Porl on board).

I agre..............But want Roger back!
He is, IMO the best keys player the band has ever had
Luke x :P
yeah, he was/is great! i love his playing in "from the edge..."
I've just listened the show. I thought to be in fornt of my computer during the show but i have only heard the last part of "At night"  So thanks a lot to the webmasters to have put the mp3s on line so fast...
Ok, the setlist is nice with good surprises but i really expect more songs from 81 or 82 period on the next shows... The guitar-line of Porl is interesting but sometimes it sounds weird   i wish i could hear the rest of the songs: "A letter to Elise", "A signal to noise", "End" and especially "Push" because on the last tours the song was not played fast enough... Anyway, i really like "Lullaby" and i was surprised and very impressed by "alt.end" which is not a song that i use to listen from the last lp. its clear that there is a big difference between a show with and without Porl...
Let's wait for the next shows !!! :D :D
P.S: Nice picture Dsanchez!
as far as I am concerned they need a keyboarder. If I compare for example at night with the version on the paris album I prefer the paris one.
personally I think it sounded great, okay a few rough edges, but much livelier than many recent performances, and I for one enjoyed the more full on guitar sound :D
I am curious about that "signal to noise"
I liked everything i've heard but the end of the world sounded weak and out of tune!
i love all these songs without keyboards!! but i think if they are going to make a new record, they will obviously get another keyboardist!!
ariel
I'm sure they will.
Even if they find a new guy for the keys we don't might to forget the fact, that Robert, Simon and Porl are able to play keyboards. So they will use some on the new record.
Well,
i'm for the Cure with the keyboards because i love the dreamy of cure's music (sorry for my english, i'm italian..)that expecially the piano in Bloodlfowers, really carry on...In fact Bloodflowers is so elegant...!!
The setlist of Benicassim, don't have The Top, Bloodflowers and WildMoodSwings like always and i don't like it... i wish for the taormina concert a mix of all the albums...
Anyway, i never listen a so beautiful version of Lullaby, for me the best ever!!! And i think, it's Porl guitar...
Alt.End absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!
A Beautiful surprise The Blood and a very rocks version of The baby screams...
i hope for some b-sides in the others show...
I miss very much roger...
