15:54- "65dos is soundchecking. Cure are on at 8:30. Three hours is confirmed by the venue, scheduled on stage 'til 11:30. More later."
17:40- "They are playing a new song right now. It's very upbeat, not bad like Freakshow, though."
17:44- "Another new one. Very slow, pretty and lush sounding. Sounds amazing!"
19:41- "Looks like a young Lovecats crowd tonight. Most are in their 20s and even less of a goth and punk turnout than the last two nights."
20:20- "Not a huge crowd tonight. Less people than Fairfax and Philly, it seems."
21:09- On Sleep When I'm Dead (New Song 1 from soundcheck): "Sounds kinda like Shiver and Shake."
21:44- On The Blood "Porl is playing an electric on this."
22:49- On Close To Me "Robert is very drunk"

Many thanks to Sullen for the setlist tonight! :smth023 What a shame...15 minutes left to do the third encore....could have easily done Other Voices/Faith. Instead, more of the same.

Boston University presale starts tomorrow. Does anyone know the password?
When does the soundcheck usually start? around 4 PM??
does anybody know the agganis arena? where does the band enter the building?
Thanks
so if we come early - like three hours before the show, we could catch the band entering?
how can you enter the venue during soundcheck? i thought doors didnt open until 6:30
Does anyone know if there's any kind of curfew at Agganis?
I hope there is no curfew for Boston....
7:30 start time, that would put them on stage at 8:30 the way things are going and with the 11pm curfew in place..... well.....
Hopefully it's 1130 or 65 days of **** will go on at 7.
Soundcheck is at 4 usually.
Band usually arrives at 3.
I'll do setlist coverage for this one if nobody else can.
Sullen:
You can text me the songs as it goes if you don't mind. Let me know and I'll pm you my number
i don't think they'll change the start time without notice.
I sorta doubt there's a curfew pre-midnight. i've seen Pearl Jam several times at the Fleet/Garden and those shows have run close to midnight. I know the Orpheum has an 11pm curfew but that's a venue specific thing. I was just wondering if anyone here knew of anything, because the Cure won't be on till 8:30 and i hope they can play till 11:30 at least.

Oh yes that would be great if they didn't but hey newer bands need a break. 65 Days of Static were quite good in Philly just a bit too loud for me.
Anyways have a fun night to all of the Curefans who are going! :smth023
Sullen has sent in the soundcheck. Right now there has been silence inside for about 5 minutes, so we are assuming they are done soundchecking. Keep an eye on the first post above for the setlist as it happens tonight! :smth023
Sleep When I'm Dead
Isn't that the one said to be written back in '85?
quick question - what type of lights has 65dos been using? same as the cure i assume?
hello 17/M from the states, I don't really know why but I somehow found myself on this website 3 of the last 4 days watching Cure setlists coming in, thought I'd say hi. Any way I was wondering, and I know some bands find this taboo while others don't, is there any place online where I can get bootlegs of these shows? Thanks. Looking forward to the new CD in the fall!

From Rolling Stone a few months ago.
"At least one tune will almost definitely make the cut: "Sleep When I'm Dead," a recently unearthed demo from 1985's The Head On The Door. "It sounds genuinely 1980's," Smith says. "I don't think that's a bad thing. It's part of our heritage."
I have been listening to A Perfect Boy and I must say I liked it from the start. :smth020 Freakshow is ok and I'm really undecided about The One. It's a little too  for me! I am addicted to this site. I love to guess/see what song they will play next. I think so far, they've sounded great. I have to wait til June 18th to see them live in Cleveland but the wait makes the prize even sweeter..... :-D :P :-D
Have fun fellow Curemates...
OMG...Signal to Noise.

Excellent. Something pre-Jason sounds very interesting to me. And I'll be curious to hear what the current Cure makes of a song from the mid-eighties.

Hey, Robert has gone back to using a Telecaster. 1985 indeed!
I don't think I'd like The Cure very much if they were Bon Jovi.
What I'd give to hear them play something from TC besides alt.end and Us or Them. Labyrinth with this lineup would be beyond awesome and so would Before 3 (although Robert would need to brush up on the lyrics to both--did he ever get them straight in 2004?).
:smth011...it's doom & gloom time folks...

Oh bitter disappointment -- why plague me?
killer show. hope to write a review tomorrow...just got back to maine at 2:15 am.
Blood, Us or Them, and Signal to Noise were major highlights. The whole freaking thing was just about perfect. (only Why Can't I Be You didn't seem to work at all...there were some misfiring keyboard samples and it sounded a bit of a mess).
Would love to have heard all four 17 Sec's songs, but I was praying The Blood would appear, and sure enough...
MG
ha, you beat me!
just got back to jersey city at 6:15AM!
havent slept, i was drunk, hungover, and now back from breakfast.
NOTES:
RE: shame about the encores note up top of this thread,
so true.
they really didn't have time left, grent them that.
BUT
this venue technically had no curfew, there was just simply a scheduled end time.
I harrassed about a dozen venue workers about curfew laws, and they all told me there wasnt one at this place.
So they could have gone more than 3 hours, and not cut the encore, and or done a 4th.
4 song faith encore is printed on the US setlists, got my first peek at them last night, no suprises on the encore setlist, exact same arrangements as europe.
i thought that something different was going to happen when they opened E2 with playfortoday.
we got a long guitar interlude before forest that i thought was going to lead into forever, but just went into forest.
Forest had a smashing ending however!
Simon pounding on the bass like the old days.
Nothing much more to say, sound was bad, not the bands fault, robert was wasted which is always fun to watch.
Sleep when im dead, i dont know, you can judge it for yourself, i think the bassline sounds a bit like shiver.
More i hear these songs, the more the reality sets in that they are now a rock band, nothing more.
Sad but true.
I'm just glad i saw the swing/dream cure many times because shows like that will never be back with the direction things are headed.
The other new song is FABULOUS!
It wasn't really dark, it was just slow and lush and pretty, is the only way i can describe it.
I was in awe. I think it is the best one yet.
Hope they play it in canada.
But the one thing that ran through my head as i was enchanted by this song.....
....how much better it would have sounded with a keyboard track in it.....
the sound was actually excellent where we were (floor sectio F6, half a section in front of the sound board to the left). i noticed when you walked way up the steps that the sound got louder and harsher.
i was amazed at how great the arrangements were and how deconstructed so many tunes sounded with no keys. only Close to Me and Why Cant I...had any kind of sampled keys, as far as i could tell.
Yeah, they coulda blown past 11:30 (actually they went to 11:35) but jeez, 3 hours for a single set show is long enough! (they really should skip the opening bands...no need...just come on at 8 and play till 11).
I'm 46 and have seen like 800 shows since the mid 70s and probably 1000 bands, but this is among the longest single set shows i've ever seen. (seen some 4 hour multi set shows, but that's another story).
From only one listen Sleep When I'm Dead sounded like a weird cross between Never Enough and The Baby Screams. I'm sure it won't sound like that after a few more listens.
Wow my first cure show and they absolutely blew me away 3+ hr set of all amazing material.
I will be posting the live set soon to one of those sites :smth023
And ill throw up some pics in a bit :)

Sleep When I'm Dead :smth020
Oh I'm liking this a lot! :rocker
yes,
it's GREAT!
I love it too. I was a little bummed to see that Boy I Never Knew hasn't made it onto any setlists yet in the U.S. but now I'm thinking--so what--this song is going to be more fun to dance to!
After listening to this song (5 times in a row now), I'm suddenly very anxious for the album to come out. Freakshow and The Only One had me a bit worried about the route the band was going. But now, with this one and The Perfect Boy, the excitement is building back up.
i think
all the songs played until now are very GOOD, and someone ARE GREAT (Sleep When I'm Dead/ The Perfect Boy / A Boy I Never Knew)
we will see,
but as far as i'm concerned also the other two songs make me hope for somethin' GREAT!!!!!!
The Only One sounds Amazing in the studio version.
I'm listening to The Only One right now myself and it sounds INCREDIBLE.
And totally filthy. Right on! :smth020
Plainsong was an amazing way to start off the show. And then, it got better with Prayers For Rain. I'm glad they kept From The Edge there, that song is always a pleaser. Too bad it was the only song from Wish.
I was hoping they'd play something that they don't usually play, like Doing The Unstuck or Cut.
Simon Gallup drowned out the best part of Disintegration with his bass. And I didn't really like the new songs.
However the rest of it was great. Especially the Seventeen Seconds Encores.
But The Highlight of the night for me was Jumping Someone Else's Train.
Hello everybody, any chance to listen a sample of the new song??? "Sleep When I'm Dead"
Great day. Mike :-D
Update: i discovered the link for the new song  hehehehe, thank you, by the way, any info about this recording, sound very good imo.

I was hoping they might bust out "I dig you" Which I can only find records of them playing once in 2004 and before that in 1985. I was glad they kept grinding halt in there!
Why?!
My head was right next to some GIANT bass speakers and I thought disintegration was -great-.
*manswoon*
It was so sad to see them walk onto the bus!

I don't remember The Cure having an opening act for previous U.S. tours. They certainly don't need one, especially since they keep having curfew issues. Do they have some prior connection with with 65DoS and just want to help them break?

i love 65dos, and i was ecstatic when i saw them last year with the cure, two bands that i love sharing the same night, im happy about it. robert handpicked them to open up for the entire tour, and even flew out to see them live (somwhere in the UK) before asking them. during an interview at the download festival, one of the things robert talked about - was his support for 65daysofstatic, he really ejoys their music. well it shows - otherwise he wouldnt have had them open the WHOLE tour. i dont know how many people have been watching 65dos, but last year - there were 200 people in a 23,000 seat amphitheatre.

We went early enough to catch at least half of the set. I had listened a bit on their webpage/myspace and was not sure I would enjoy them, but they were pretty good live.
Of course, they are somewhat lost in the big (half empty) venues that The Cure are playing,
so I'm sure they would be a lot better in a club setting. Even so, the crowd at the opening
show in Fairfax gave them polite applause during their set. I think they are playing a fair
number of club dates on nights when there is no Cure show.

Not intended to be a criticism. I just knew it was some sort of omni/binaural recording. And my guess was that it was Core Sound Binaurals. That's all.

Hello guys, LSITU wrote me a PM about this. I can't answer his question, as I didn't download anything from the 2008 shows (as far as I remember) I forward his question to you:
Do you have any idea which is the overall best quality recording of Boston to download / listen to, out of the following versions?
1) BennyBlanco's upload at Curefans and Dimeadozen.
2) The "Sony ECM-719 mic and a Sony MZ-RH10 minidisc" MP3 version. I know it's MP3 but I heard it's a nice recording, is it an overall better recording than BennyBlanco's version?
PS - Is the "Danish Pro Audio Presents" 2 new songs version posted by "sullen" in the Boston thread also available as the complete show?
I'm on limited download and it would be very helpful to know the best overall quality version to download.
Cheers

Yes, I like the BennyBlanco one too. Probably my favorite show of the tour so far. Very solid performance, and Robert's voice was in top shape. I'm still not convinced he's fully recovered, judging from some samples I heard of the last few shows. :?
Sullen's version is fantastic, but the complete version has not been torrented or anything like that.
Thank you for the kind words :-D
Glad everyone likes it 8)
ps. since an opportunity arose, thank you for the NIN stuff you've shared/been involved in too. :P

thanks for the link, very cool photography. :smth023
Id have to say this show was very solidly played. But the venue is boomy, this made the bass sound distorted sometimes.
Thanks bennyblanco for sharing it at Dime, I really thought recordings would be difficult to find.
I was there but it felt like a dream. It was my first concert and I dressed up as Robert as he looked around 1986. This is when I loved my hair and could put it up like Roberts. One person came up to me and said I had the best hair there! That made me really happy. In the middle of Disintegration my dad took me over to the top of the stairs to the right of the stage.I used my moms cell phone to take pics and video. I felt really REALLY happy then! But then he said we should go back to our seats. So we went back. I had to use binoculars to see Robert and everyone but I still loved it. I remember on the way home I was so happy that I had seen The Cure live and that I couldn't wait for them to go on tour again!
@Strange Attraction: It's an awesome feeling isn't it??
