At this point, neither www.ticketmaster.com nor www.allstatearena.com lists anything about this show...

Yet, tickets for some other shows are just about to go on sale. :?

Some (Montreal and Philadelphia) went on sale without notice.  WTF is up with that?  :?  thecure.com should've offered ticket sales through the site.  More and more bands are doing this these days.  Recently, I bought Muse tickets through the official page.  Just signed up for site membership and bought my ticket the day before the TM and radio presales.  Going that route (by passing Ticketbastard) saved me a few $ on surcharges.

I swear this is a scandal. I don't think sections 1-3 ever went on sale to the public.

However, I'm sure the prime seats will be turning up on eBay for severely inflated prices.

Try craigslist in a day or two.  Scalpers will list them there, too.  Just keep an eye on things as the show approaches.  Prices will surely drop.  Still, that's a lot of tickets and it seems no one was able to get anything close.  I think the mafia is to blame  :smth071

I saw a post on another forum (might have been the official site) that said one dude got a pair on section 3.  That's the only one I've heard.  And who really knows if that's true?  I was thinking that they might have offered seats to season ticket holders to the various teams that call Allstate home, but that's an awful lot of seats.  Something I was thinking about was maybe they're doing a half arena setup.  If you pull up the seating chart for the Barenaked Ladies you'll see what I mean.  TM shows the End Stage seating, but it could be wrong.  Has anyone heard of any seats along the side (103, 203, 110, 210).  If this was the case it would certainly help clear things up a bit.  You'd think some people still would've got seats in 1-3, and in pairs!

I tried both presales and the onsale today for 3 tickets and was NEVER offered floor at all by Ticketmaster. This is ridiculous! Nearly 20 years of concert-going and I've never had so much trouble getting good seats for a show.
I'll be in Chicago somehow (already have plane tickets!) but damn if I'm going to buy those shitty upper-level seats. I'll find a way...but there's something very fishy going on with the sales for this show.
I did see seats along the sides offered today but I'm not sure how far to the sides they'd have to go to be using half the arena only. Still, if they are, that means Ticketmaster couldn't even show us the correct seating chart!!

I think it's funny how some guys always film from the very back of the venue. They must not mind having a horrible view for every concert, not to mention those videos don't usually sound too great either.

But there are some tapers who usually film close to the stage. Big respect for those guys.

I thought I had Section 110 come up while trying to get tickets, but I could be wrong (I hope).  And I am sure that quite a few, if not all of the US shows will be taped :smth023.

I can personally speak to getting gear in in Europe vs. US, since I have taped shows in both.  Getting gear in in Europe is a joke.  I taped both the audio and the video of the RAH show last year.  I could have had 17 nuclear weapons down my pants (so that would make 18 weapons down there! :-D).  No one even looked twice at me.

In 2004, when I met the band in Camden, NJ, I had to hide my camera down my pants.  I had this huge bouncer pat me down and he brushed the camera with the back of his hand.  He nearly shit himself.  Guess he thought I was happy to have him patting me down!

That would be great if they're doing a different setup.  I mean, really, the band isn't popular enough to fill an 18,000 person venue anymore, are they?  I think average attendance at the Curiosa shows was around 9-10,000.

They are playing the Spectrum in Philly and that seats 17-18000.  However, there are 3 levels and for minor league hockey they have huge curtains covering the 3rd level so that probably cuts out 3000 seats or so.  The problem (at least in Philly) is that there are few medium sized venues.  We have tons of 1000, 3000, 3500 seat places, then we have the super sized ones- 17000-25000, plus football and baseball stadiums.  Nothing really in between.  Maybe Chicago has the same problem and that is why they are playing there.

I just called the arena.  Ticketmaster published the wrong seating chart.  It's going to be a half-arena setup.  They're supposed to fax me a seating chart.  She said it's similar to what they do for the Disney events.

That's what I was thinking.  They have a half arena setting for the Barenaked Ladies.  This makes a lot more sense.  Please post the chart when you get it.

It's the same as the Barenaked Ladies chart (actually has Barenaked Ladies crossed out with Cure written under it), which means that it has seating for 9,500 people.  You can go on Ticketmaster and see it, or I have it as a TIF file.

You got really lucky! :D

Row 13 should be 13 rows from the stage. Section 1 ends at row 10 and the row numbering doesn't reset until sections 4 and 5.

I live in Chicago, so this is a must. Unfortunately all the good seats have been sold and I have to go with my mother (being that I am but 15 years old), which might ruin the experience and be quite awkward...not to mention we'd be sitting in th every back of the theater with our luck, while everyone else enjoys Robert and the band from within feet!

It's postponed cos we don't know if anyone will come or not.  If some folks decide to come to Chicago anyway cos they can't get refunds for their flights/hotels we'll have it.

Right now the gal who is organizing it is just hoping some people will want to meet even tho there is no concert.

it's all good Chi-town!!

whats a few more months right? Hell, I'd wait a few more years if i had to. lots of angry folks out there right now. i think it's just because of flight/hotel scheduling. don't get me wrong, I'd be a little upset also but just knowing this will be my first Cure show and just knowing that our tickets are still good for the spring, makes my frown turn upside down..hehe

We are however going to have to eat the $$$ on the hotel room unless the Boyzz announce the spring dates by the 15th of September...PLEASE!!! Our hotel was right across the street from the arena and as alcohol-drenched as our livers were going to get, stumbling distance from the show was kinda cool.

to Robert and the boyz: Do what ya gotta do fellas. we'll definitely see you in the spring.
Peace out!

hey j, a few of my friends back east told me i should stay at the Drake if I'm in chicago.  i told them you and ur better half were going.  i also told them to start saving a a buck a day for my room. come spring i should be able to stay at least a night...hehehe

nahhh, I'm pretty easy. my pals and i were staying at the Wyndam across the street from the arena so thats more than likely what we'll do in the spring.

I'll shout back soon.  HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS!!!

3. Lincoln will be the hottest place in the midwest on Saturday night because college footballs #1 USC comes to town to play our beloved HUSKERS, who by the way are #14.

4. ...and what can i say about sunday.  after Saturday night I'll probably wake up wicked late, watch the Sox/Yanks and then Football all day.

honestly, the Cure's news for me, has to be the highlite of this "NOTHING can piss me off" weekend.   haha

CHEERS!!!

Game is starting in a few minutes. This should be a good one. Hopefully Nebraska will have better luck than Iowa did when they played Ohio State last year (the #1 team at the time).

I'll be pulling for Nebraska tonight. ;)

Screw Nebraska  :smth093  Being a UW fan I should be pulling for USC since they'll play each each other and UW knocking off USC would be HUGE!  Like it'll happen, but it's nice to dream  :P   Dammit, I HATE USC though!!!  And don't get me started on Ohio St.  :smth076

well the weekend didn't go exactly as planned but at least the Rosemont show didn't get rescheduled.  We pretty much knew USC would roll us and as for my RedSox, we Blew 2 out of the three games the worst being on Friday.  i left the bar when it was 7-2 good guys in the top of the 8th.  got home and saw we lost 8-7. WTF!!!
hope this week is good for you.  i need my coffee!!!

I'd imagine so.  I'm yet to see any tickets available from areas that would only be usable in a full arena setting.

Someone already posted the seating chart on this thread.  It's gonna be the same way they set up for the Barenaked Ladies.

Just search this thread, can't miss it--HUGE white photo with lines all over. :)

i agree 100% with u Meddy.  i was just shaking my head reading some of the stupid posts on the bands site.  How can people be like that?  it most definitly is NOT the end of the world when a band reschedules.  if you're a true fan, the wait is ALLWAYZ worth it.  i've only been on this site for a very short time but it is one of my favorites because of the awesome people in it.

I got that same message.  Plus one in August and another one in September!

I don't understand the reasoning behind the latest message.  What is the point of sending out postponment reminders for a gig scheduled for September at the end of November?!

If my wife isn't going, I'll need a single.  I'll buy it off you if that is the case.

The problem there is I'd like to hang onto for a while as there is still a chance, albeit one that seems to be shrinking.  The deal is I was supposed to change work schedules around that time.  Should that happen, and I need it to because I'll be out of vacation days, I can go.  Just in case, I've already reserved a room.  An no, not at The Drake.  Not all of us are high rollers  :P  Though I am staying at one of the many Hilton owned hotels in the area.

Question to whoever wants to please answer:  Me and my buddies are going to this Chicgao show to see the Cure for the first time :smth023.  we read all the posts from previous shows and check out how awesome their set lists are.  i'm assuming that they base their set lists on how the feel that night right?  The Mexico shows  :smth028 had some pretty intense set lists and at the Warsaw show last night it sounds like they played some pretty nice fan favorites :rocker.  just wondering what we might expect in Chicago.   :-D

Judging from past history, I'd say that the North American leg of the tour might be a lot more interesting than the European one. For one, there *should* be a new album out by then, and they will be more likely to draw songs from that.

Also, I can't think of many years where Robert didn't suddenly get the idea to make the setlists more interesting during the last month or two of the tour.

Just look at the later shows from 1987, 1989, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004. You could even say the same about 2007, as the the Mexico shows were the last.

The Tinley Park show in 2004 had a pretty bland setlist, but that was in the middle of a "mini-tour", which never really had a chance to develop into much.

Well I was originally going to wait till the Cleveland tickets went on sale to see another Cure show.  I was going to take a week off & visit the city but I won't be able to take the time off in June so I decided to visit a friend in Chicago the weekend of the Cure Chicago Concert.

I'll be going solo since she doesn't like them but I've gone to concerts by myself in the past.  Looks like quite a few fans on here are going to this show.  I'm looking forward to the show & visiting Chicago too.  Can't wait to try out some of that great Chicago food. Any good place to try out while I'm there?  Anyone meeting up before the show???  :smth023

Greetings from Berlin!

This is my first post here- hope this is ok to add this. I also hope to see/meet many other fans at our after-show party!  We (the Nocturna crew) have been spinning the music of The Cure for 20 years at our events & are excited about the whole night!   :smth020

- Saturday, 17 May 2008
Nocturna (monthly dark alternative club night)
- with DJ Scary Lady Sarah

- held at Metro, 3730 N. Clark Street, Chicago
- 18 and over welcome!
- 11pm - 5am
- $10. (or $5. w/ Cure ticket)

**This month's Nocturna is also a special after-party for THE CURE.  Just show your Cure concert ticket stub from their earlier concert the same night and get in to Nocturna for half price!  We'll also be playing a heavier than usual amount of the music of The Cure and related projects throughout the night.**

Nocturna is an 18+ dark alternative dance night held once a month in Chicago. DJ Scary Lady Sarah (flying in monthly from Berlin, Germany) spins a highly request-driven mix of current & classic music generally of the goth, industrial, post-punk, deathrock, ethereal, shoegaze, new wave, ebm, darkwave & dark indie varieties.

Nocturna is an American Gothic Productions event. http://www.AmericanGothicProd.com

Thank you!   :)

So I have a "dumb" question (this is my first Cure concert).  My sister once told me that when bands perform they follow the same setlist, and the encores are the only thing that is different.  However, I have noticed by looking at the shows that have already been performed here in the states, that they aren't the same.  (Even though alot of the songs are the same but not all)  Is this something special that the Cure does?  Than again, it seems kind of nice to be pleasantly surprised.     I am leaving 2 1/2 days!!!!  Oh the nerves...

There are A LOT of bands that play the same, or almost the same, setlist every night. I'm sure it's well over 50%.

There are others who do some occasional changes. The last Depeche Mode tour was very predictable, almost using a certain formula to choose songs - but the setlists were 90% the same.

Some bands really never change at all, and some change a lot. I'd say the Cure are among the better bands about this kind of thing, yet even we fans still complain. They certainly go out of their way to add at least some variation. Even if they're playing a lot of the same songs, they often do it in a different order from night to night. Most bands can't even bother to do that.

Different years have been different for The Cure. 1987 was one of their most static tours ever. Just imagine how people would be complaining if we had these forums back then:

http://www.cure-concerts.de/main/1987.php

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Swing Tour was full of all kinds of surprises:

http://www.cure-concerts.de/main/1996.php

I think the 2005-2008 era has become somewhat redundant, but then again, I think Cure fans are somewhat spoiled.

With no curfew, I hope we get an extra long show Saturday night or at least an extra encore!  8)

Only 3 more days to go now! :-D   I can't wait to catch my flight on Friday, check out the town, visit friends & see the show! :-D  Anyone sitting in Section 5?  I'm in Row 3 Seat 1 next to the sound boards.  Is that a bad thing to sit next to that?  At 1st I thought the seat would be too far away from the stage but with the half stage set-up, they don't seem too bad.  Anyone know if they are OK or not?   I didn't expect to get decent seats since I bought them in February. At least I'm glad to be on the end of the row & not in the middle.  Maybe then I'll be able to see the stage better.

Well to everyone who is going, have a safe trip & a have a great night.  :smth020

That is about where I was initially (on the other side of the board), but returned my tix when it was rescheduled, then bought crowbi_wan's ticket.  Your seat should be fine...keep in mind that the sound at the venue is mixed to what the engineer hears at the board, so you should be hearing about what he is hearing.

I'm pretty sure we'll be at Neo on friday night (to bad we can't make it tonight when  Lol is spinning!!) so if anyone is around, lets grab a beer.

See you all at the show!

god bless all of you Faithful Curefans.

I was just over at the arena....and asked to be let in for the soundcheck.  The crew guy I asked laughed and said no.  It was worth a shot!  He said that soundcheck starts at 4 (in 45 minutes).  I think I'll head back over and see what I can come up with.  For now, here are some pics (there isn't a gallery setup for Rosemont yet)

2 nice encores on the list now that never get played.

Maybe he's holding off on them, for when he tours the Xmas record that he's never going to release?

That could be, but why list them?

I'm starting to wonder if The Boy I Never Knew is going to be left off the as yet untitled 13th album.  No sign of it on the NA tour.  It's certainly dark and that isn't going to be what the new album is about.  Everything new has been upbeat...including this Rag Dog song.  The only new mellow track that's seen some light was the mystery song from the Boston soundcheck.  Notice how it hasn't been played.  It's probably not going to be because it'll be saved for the Christmas album that won't come out this Christmas.

If you follow that logic, Sleep when I'm dead and The Perfect Boy are not supposed to be on the album because they were not played during the entire European Tour.

And about the "upbeat" thing: Is 100 Years poppy? A Short Term Effect, Primary, A Forest, Shake Dog Shake, From the edge of the deep green sea, Want, Fascination Street, Disintegration, are these songs poppy? Well, I think they're not. But eh, they're upbeat, aren't they? Why do most of you connect the word "upbeat" to "poppy"? Follow that logic would mean that Pornography, 17 Seconds or Wish are Poprecords, because they're all more upbeat. You talk about an album that hasn't even a name yet, no tracklisting, nothing but you talk about it like shit. The album will include at least 2 or 3 very slow downbeat songs including A Boy I Never Knew, that's as sure as Robert won't shave his head. Just calm down guys.  :smth011

Did I mention anything about pop?  You're misreading what I wrote.  I'm talking about new songs. Ones that I think are going to be on the album because they are the ones currently being played on the tour.  Just wondering what the hell happened to ABINK.  For some reason it's being left off the setlist.  Maybe that reason is it won't be on the new album.  Maybe it will.  If so, it should be played at some point on the NA tour.

Did anyone ever tell you that this attiude is one of the most superficial?

It's just the fact that ABINK is not in the set yet has nothing to say about whether it's on the album or not. The other two new ones weren't played in Europe. So what? What happend to them there? Will the be on the record though? That's just ridiculous. Like the whole upbeat against downbeat against poppy against darker stuff thing. The album will have the same balance as every Cure Record had since The Top. Stop howling around and complaining about Robert's descicions before they're even announced.

Oh, I see.  The only here that is allowed to have an opinion is you.  Anyone else that has an opinion that doesn't agree with yours is wrong.  I get it.

Talk about an attitude.  Someone mentions what they think about what songs will or won't be on the album based on the belief that the new album will be upbeat (or poppy, or whatever other term you or anyone else wants to use), and you chastise them.  Who made you judge?

Listen, if you want to make a second account here to raise hell, whatever.  If you're so opinionated, why hide behind a second account?  Use your main account and let everyone know who you are. :smth011

During the Euro tour the new album was still thought to be a double and there was no talk of this four singles plan.  My guess is that the two unannounced singles are The Perfect Boy and Sleep When I'm dead.  It's just a guess, but it makes sense.  Those are the songs that are being played.  But hey, the tour is just under way.  Robert mentioned something about several new songs (was it the entire album?) getting played at some point during the tour.  Hmmm...Robert says a lot, though

That's exactly what I think. But still says nothing about ABINK left off the album. It will be on there! Robert said so in that interview with Radio 104.5. Not that I've that strong belief in what Robert tells in any interview.

Didn't Robert announce that the last album was going to be the heaviest ever? What happend to that? He will include dark and epic songs on the September issue. No need for a second release at christmas anyway. Maybe next year? 30 anniversary album (which would not only include dark and gloom stuff as Disintegration wasn't complete doom and gloom). I just don't give much on what Robert tells in interviews.

Fun show.  The crowd was really into it, and I think we all really thought we were getting a fourth encore for a minute!  Setlist was a little too poppy for me, and Disintegration was a mess, but we had a great time!

I agree about Disintergration.  But hey, my boyfriend who is a metal head wasn't too fond of the Cure, but he said that after seeing them that he has new respect for them and that they put on one hell of a show.   :smth023  One thing we both thought was awesome was the diversity amongst people, ages, walks of life.  It was awesome beyond words...(I am still bawling like a baby that my life's dream had to come to and end...no joke, that is 110% true).  One downfall, the couple behind was urinated on by some jerk behind them. :smth011  All in all, I am thoroughly satisified with my experience, just bummed that it's over...and I didn't even bring my camera.

There's still plenty of time to take a road trip to another show.  You might just get to hear that Seventeen Seconds encore.

It was played fine, but Robert mumbled different lyrics during the first two verses (Reminded me of that '98 Germany show where he sang Watching Me Fall actually) then about 3/4th of the way through, I think he realized what was happening and just started wailing.  If the whole song would've been as cool as that two minutes it would've been amazing.

We considered going to Cleveland too, after this show, but the expense would be too much, considering the gas costs and the fact that we need a new computer.  Plus, honestly, I wouldn't be too surprised if they do a few shows in the fall for the new album.  Robert mentioned that he considered postponing the show because he was sick, but he couldn't justify making us come back a third time.  Made us wonder, postpone it to when?  June?  or later?  What's he got planned?   :-D

Hey everyone . . .

I just signed up for an account on here, I'm usually really bad at keeping up with message boards and stuff.  I'm a longtime (actually, lifetime) Cure fan and I wanted to at least be able to contribute something to the other fans out there, so I've uploaded some of the photos I took from the Chicago show this past weekend.  I had a photo pass as I was reviewing the show, but my editor had sent someone else to photograph the show, therefore making the pictures I took mine.  There's only 5 at the moment, but I plan to put up quite a few more (I took about 100 photos while I was up there).  This was my first time ever seeing The Cure so I went crazy with the camera - I was even fighting tears during Prayers For Rain so I could take more pictures - haha!

Anyhow - hope you all like the pictures I put up, and I'll reply to this thread when I put more up . . .

I just got home and I thought the show on Saturday was beyond amazing! Robert's vocal troubles weren't really that noticeable, the energy was fantastic, and getting to hear Plainsong like that was so moving I couldn't believe it.
Also I may lose all my street cred for this but finally getting to hear Friday I'm In Love live was just a little piece of heaven for me. I think I hit the ceiling when it started!

Finally got back late yesterday from a very strange weekend that I spent with my friend in Chicago. She has gotten quite religious over the past few months I told me it was a sin to go to the Cure Show.  She kept convincing me not to go but I told her I'm going no matter what.  She stopped bothering me about it but I knew she was mad at me.  She acted very weird the rest of the weekend.  But that's another story not suited for the boards here.  Despite all of her weirdness I still enjoyed my stay in Chicago.  Saw quite a lot of stuff!  It's a cool town to visit!  8)

Anyways, I had an awesome time at the The Cure show Saturday Night. They sounded good even with Robert's voice problems towards the end of the show. He did alright considering that he's sick.  Traded seats with a guy so he could sit with his friends, so I got to move up about 3 rows on the floor. Most of the night I had an excellent view of the stage but there was this 6'5' guy a few rows in front of me part of the time so I did have some trouble seeing Robert.  But this guy did leave the show for a while to get a beer so at least for part of the show I could see everything. Even with my original seat the guy would have still been in my way.  The set-list was much the same as the Philly show but I still enjoyed it.  The crowed was really into it.  Cheering & singing along much more than in Philly and I thought the crowd was a lot younger too.  Unfortunately I stood between two people who were not into the show at all.  They didn't move an inch or even clap/cheer at the end of the songs!  They had to have hated me with all the dancing & cheering I was doing.  :-D

I was disappointed with Disintegration since it didn't sound quite right but I enjoyed Plainsong, Sleep While I'm Dead & the The Kiss once again.  Most people knew none of the new songs & kind of stood around while they were playing them but when the songs were over, they did cheer!  Robert did a bit of dancing that got the crowd excited.  Couldn't understand what he said when he talked but he did mention that he was sick & sounding awful.  He really made the best of it and still sound great!  After the 3rd encore they kept the stage lights on for about 3-4 minutes & the crowed kept cheering & I really thought we were maybe getting a 4th encore but then the floor lights went on.  Too bad it didn't happen.  Overall my impressions of the show were very good but for me I think they were a lot better in Philly.  Still I loved it & I had great night! :smth020

I've got a few pictures to post so I'll get them up in the Gallery later tonight when I get home from work. I'm not even sure how they all came out I just kept clicking away.
Good reviews to all who have posted & excellent pictures j, modulated & iwannashagsimon.  Thanks for sharing!  :smth023

Besides Philly & Chicago, I was going to go to Cleveland & maybe a show to NYC but I don't have the extra vacation time or the money to go.  So I'll have to wait for another tour in the future too!  :smth020

Thanks cure_kitty to the link :) They're really nice pictures :)

I was at the Chicago show and i had a very good view to the stage (row 10)
and i have to say i enjoy my last Cure concert for a long time, very much!!!
It was great!!!! Robert was soooo damn cute and charming :)
And what i really loved was that Simon smiled :), because he doesn't smile often.
The setlist was so like in Europe, the different was, that they played more pop songs than dark-side songs.

It was a very long flight to Chicago, but it was worth it!!!
I got home very early today, and i'm a bit tired.

The BCS never gets it right.  Every year someone gets screwed, usually a team from a non-BCS conference that has gone undefeated.  Every now and then it'll be a one loss team from a BCS conference that isn't a high profile team.  The system will get tweaked again next year, but it won't change the outcome one bit.  Playoffs are the answer.

Go HUSKERS!  I can't even believe I just typed that.
