Alright then, 10 of my current favorites, no order. Most of them have been mentioned before (Cure minds think alike?). Some of them I don't listen to that often anymore, but they still mean a lot to me.

1. Kate Bush - The Dreaming
(Hounds of Love has less weaker tracks, love it a lot, but this is the one of her records I return to most often. Weird Kate armed with drums, didgeridoos (spelling checked), and a whole lot of experimental fun)

2. Fiona Apple - When The Pawn...
(Possibly one of the longest album titles in musical history (90 words), I'll spare you by not typing it all out here. One of those albums you return to to gather strength from. Passionate and intense, with my favorite moments including Fiona singing her witty, poetic lyrics in her low, menacing voice while hammering out jazzy piano romps, accompanied by a drummer)

3. Depeche Mode - Violator
(Let me show you the world in my eyes...)

4. Pixies - Doolittle
(Big shake on the box car moving...)

5. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
(I will let you down, I will make you hurt...)

6. Cocteau Twins - Victorialand
(My favorite of theirs varies too. Glorious band)

7. Smashing Pumpkins - Rotten Apples: Greatest Hits
(Some of my fondest memories from my early teens are of taking walks on the jogging tracks in the woods, sometimes during the night, alone with a backpack full of records and a CD player. One of the records, apart from Kent's Hagnesta Hill (nr. eight), would usually be Rotten Apples, my start out point with the band before moving on to their studio albums)

8. Kent - Hagnesta Hill
(Brilliant Swedish lyrics, simple yet profound)

9. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads
(Feels like a typical "angry moody teenager" pick, but that's exactly what it was at the time)

10. Björk - Vespertine
(Hard to pick a favorite of hers (Post comes very close too), but this album is great to listen to in one sitting)

surely i am ;). my top 10 is thus quite boring and predictable. but if i were to make a top 50, that would be definitely more interesting.

A little upload to my list: I'm now convinced The Kick inside is my favorite Kate Bush album, as a whole. It holds together so well, and the songs are great in themselves, of course. I've also fallen hard for Tori Amos Little Earthquakes, brilliant. Listening to it right now in fact... If I chuck out Murder Ballads it'll fit in. I don't think there's one Cave album (of the ones I've listened to) that I like in its entirety anyway...

it's a "problem" that both nick cave and david bowie share, at least for me.
