Title: Meeting point in Paris *old topic*
Post by: dsanchez on February 03, 2008, 00:05:02
I was checking how big party will be in Germany and I can't believe there's no place with Cure music for us in one of the biggest cities of the world: Paris!

I was checking what clubs in Paris may pass Cure music and found this one
http://www.les-caves.org/le_lieu.htm

I wrote to the manager and they stay open till 2.00am, so it might be an option?. Any references?

I think there should be two meeting moments, one before the concert (perhaps one day before in the night or the day of the concert in the afternoon?) and another after the concert.

Suggestions are welcome!

I wrote to the manager and they said is open only until 2.00am that day. I asked them if they would make a The Cure special, they didnt answer yet. The place have a "medieval" decoration, I personally like it

yeah, the decor is pretty sweet.  I was looking to find some reviews of this place.  Will post anything interesting I find.

About multiple meet up, I think a pre-show meeting at one of the many bars near Bercy would be a good idea.  Something more mellow.  But this Les Caves club would be cool for after the gig.

They're on myspace.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=83616013

One write up I found.

Observations : The Paris scene is pretty underground, but given some time and meeting the right people, you can find cool goth resturants, club nights at castles and back alley places like this. I found this place by asking another goth on the metro while he was on his way there. The night i went (2nd sat of the month), they played punk, bat cave & industrial.I went on a saturday and the music was great a lot of electro dark and industrial. Also they play some of the classics of goth music

DJs : Nash & Cyb@al
Cover : 12 euros, open bar for softs and beers until 1:00 am
Door Policy : There are many "Uber Goths", but there were a few "norms" trying to fit in. Try and dress accordingly please. Picture this.. A 2 or 300 yr old wine cellar. Super cool place.
Drinks : 3 euro beers, 5 euro drinks and shots. Pretty expensive for small drinks, but the ambiance is to die for.
Directions : Take the metro (number 5 line) towards to Breguet -Sabin station. st. sabin str. is right across the metro entrance. There are 2 st. sabin strs. 1 on each side of the .blvd. If you happen to take the wrong one (ends at another street) without seeing the club on your left, go the other way and you can't miss. BTW, there is a very kewl clothes shop on the opposite st. sabin st. that the club is on. ;)Arrive before 12 and the entrance is free ;)

Not sure how much I trust American Airlines, but syas here http://americanairlines.wcities.com/en/record/148,361336/8/record.html that they're open until 6am.  That could be for private parties?

This place would be okay with me.  I prefer the location of the place I suggested http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.batofar.org/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dbatofar%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADBR_enUS261US261 and that it's a boat, but the cost is high and we really have no idea about the music or what might be going on that night.

Since none of us who are trying to work on this thing live in Paris it might just make sense to go to apinkdreams party.  Either way is fine with me.

Maybe "les Furieux" (a goth/new wave/alternative bar) will do something on that night ? It's located in Bastille. Les Caves St Sabin are close to this one as well. Sorry. Not helping much here. You also have le Batofar (which is a boat near Bibliothèque François Mitterand) for alternative music...

Thanks!  We have actually been looking into Batofar as our after concert meeting spot.  Partying on a boat sound pretty sweet to me.  I believe David was waiting to hear back about any private function and what sort of music they had going on that evening.

We have to forget about Batofar, they will play reggae that night...unless everyone wants to go there?

In the other hands, after writing an email, Les Furieux will make a The Cure special. I am asking them how long it will be open. If it's good, then it looks like this will be the meeting point after concert. We will see.

That's cool as long as they remain open until something like 4am.  Tell them I'll personally make it worth their trouble for staying open late.  We'll run up a bar tab worthy of Fat Bob himself  :P

i think david told that les furieux is only open until 2am.  :?
that's really not long enough, considering that the show will only be over around midnight.
we'd have less than two hours...

Well, we could go there as a starting/meeting point and find a spot nearby once they kick us out.  What part of town is it in?

i've no idea. i'm not sure if it's very practical - we'd go where then? i think we should have some sort of plan/a place where we could stay without being in a hurry. just wandering the streets in the middle of the night is maybe not what i'd be after.

by the way, it's always the same damn thing with both london and paris. everything closes ridiculously early! i don't get it!  :smth011
paris should try to learn something from berlin...

M., B. and D. I send you a PM but I can say it here.

The pink dream after party finish at 4h so perhaps we can make a meeting point after the show with the curefans memebers and go to the pink dream after party.

i also sent a pm as a reply already. anyway.

i thought the whole point of this was to arrange something for ourselves, so that we really do not need to go to that pink"mp3"dream party - and even end up having to pay for them for it.

Yes I don't understand why we must pay 5â,¬ perhaps they reserved the "N'importe quoi" bar.

but we can go to "Les Furieux" and after 2h finish in a dicotheque or somewhere else.

Les Furieux is in Bastille as I said. Caves St Sabin are 10mn walk from Bastille (I've heard some party nights finishing at dawn there).

There's also a goth night at the Piano Vache (near the Panthéon) http://www.lepianovache.com/
But being a bar, they're not allowed to stay opened after 2am.

Maybe the péniche Concorde Atlantique will have something that night ? It's another boat and parties usually last until morning.

If you absolutely need to stay up until the next day go to a club/disco (more expensive drinks, no control of music, trendy -not really goth-) or to the nearest Irish pub (music ? but opened until 6am).

Some areas have places opened all night (Bastille, Pigalle, Marais...) with weird crowds.

Just to make a little resume from all this:

For the meeting BEFORE concert Brian suggested a nice cafe, which seems to be the meeting point.

For the meeting AFTER concert, "Les Furieux" sounds to me like the best option: free entrance and they will make a The Cure special.

The problem is that they stay open only until 2.00am. However, I gave to Tof their phone number so that maybe he can ask if there's any chance to stay open, maybe as a kind of private party or something. So let's wait for the final confirmation. Maybe after Les Furieux we can go to some place nearby that it's open the whole night (but we would need to know what options we have). I (personally) don't see any problem about going to two different places the same night.

-Meeting point before the show "Cafe Chambetin"
No problem for me

Before phoned to "Les furieux" I think it's better if we can say ...

"We are 20, 30 or 40 persons who want to go to your bar to drink and listen THE CURE, so it is possible to stay open until 2h and if you stay open until 2h does we must pay something !!!"

Cause now we don't know how many persons are interresting to go to the after party !!!

Yes but the personal of the bar finish to work at 2h and if they must work after 2h they must be paid, in France we can't stay open all the night if wre want.

I work in a restaurant and sometimes we make private night and this is the man who organize the night who pay everything, food, personal, musician.

A private night is different than a bar who agree to play THE CURE music during the evening.

Then maybe you can ask him how much they would need in order to stay open 2 hours more. The problem is that Im not sure if they can, because as I readed, they just have permission till 2.00am.
