How is it done, basically? (This is the second forum I've joined in my life [the other was a now defunct football forum about 10 years ago...] and I'm hopeless with code...)
I tried to see how others do it, but to no avail :(
All I do is copy the link and paste it into here 😎

Try "quoting" their posts and you can maybe see it.
Got to admit, I don't really know how it works! I think it used to happen "automatically" when I put in any yt link, but now it does not any more. No idea why.
As long as you insert the address as http:// instead of https:// it will work
Let's see
! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW1IqW6kNdU#)
Update: yep, great, thanks!

Thanks, I had no idea there'd be such an easy solution! :)

now it should work automatically with both http:// or https:// but besides YouTube, the application will convert links from Facebook, Vimeo into embeded videos.

It seems that the function has been widely restricted in order to...save space?
Look at the 'classic'-thread for example.It doesn't work automatically.🤔

No. I'm sure the Admin would have told us about such a restriction.

Well, it did when I just posted "Delia's gone" in "Currently listening to...". :o
It did
not work when I tried to post "Last dance" last week.
Thus, it might be a problem with the settings on youtube, e.g. when "embedding" is disabled? :?

can you share the link to the thread? not sure what you mean by "classic" thread. Thanks!
While I do not know which thread he meant, I suggest to look into "currently listening", where I posted a Johnny Cash live vid (embedding worked), then the other day I tried to post another vid of him and it didn't work.

Sorry David,I can't (for technical reasons).I meant 'Robert loves classical music.Do you??'
opened by BisquityBoyle. All yt-videos were fully embedded in the beginning, but now only
one. Some are 'no longer available' and the rest is only visible via the link.I can't figure it out.

As you can imagine, if a youtube video gets deleted by youtube (or the user on yt), the link will not work any more (nothing to do with our forum then).
Again: I can imagine it has to do with the settings on youtube (if a video is disabled for embedding, it won't work, no matter what David does here in the forum). I'm guessing these settings on yt can be changed too, or if a certain number is achieved, embedding does not work any more. (I'm not registered on yt, so can't look into details there.)
