Interview ahead of Mogwai's Meltdown performance:
https://theculturetrip.com/europe/united-kingdom/england/london/articles/mogwais-stuart-braithwaite-on-how-the-music-industry-has-a-class-problem/

Quote
“Probably the Scottish weather. That’s probably where it comes from. Either that or the failures of the Scottish football team.” Guitarist Stuart Braithwaite is chuckling to himself as he explains why his band Mogwai make such mournful music. “Those are probably the main sources of sadness in Scotland.”
The band’s melancholic post-rock conjures up stark soundscapes that ebb and flow with emotion – finding beauty in a dense fog of despair that is carefully created with layer upon layer of guitars pushed to ear-splitting levels.

Fans will get the chance to witness this up close when they play a one-off show as part of Meltdown at London’s Southbank Centre. The band were invited by this year’s festival curator, The Cure frontman Robert Smith. “We’ve played quite a few shows with them during the years and kept in touch. It was really nice of him to ask us to play when he was organising the festival,” says Braithwaite.

“I’m a huge The Cure fan. They’re one of my favourite bands. It’s very personal music. They’ve made amazing records and played legendary shows where they perform for hours and hours. Not many other bands can do that without people wanting to leave.”

Apparently the only band to knock back Robert's request to play at Meltdown... (they had their own show on at Twickenham, I think). If they'd performed at Meltdown, would they have played this one?

Of course, a musician's life often consists of long nights

Well, in the other current interview from Time Out, he gives away this:
Quote
Meltdown is why Smith is doing press: this is only his second interview in the last five years. Not that he’s reticent. In fact, he’s a talker – voluble, combative, nostalgic, even occasionally blokey – despite being worn out after a (relatively) early start. ‘These aren’t my hours,’ he warns. ‘I normally go to bed between five and six in the morning and get up between one and two.’

Looks like he does just as he pleases, which is good for him.

It would be very disappointing to see those members only at Meltdown, and not Hyde Park

As I posted back in December 2017 already:
"I get the feeling that expectations will be high for some, which will possibly only lead to disappointments".

Almost anything is possible, I suppose.  Six days left until we find out!

Glove?
No, I thought in terms of "members of bands who play at Meltdown".
As g_erman pointed out, The Guardian article speaks of:

Smith will close the event under the name Cureation 25 – which promises a lineup of previous bandmates and more
We'll have to wait and see...

It would be very disappointing to see those members only at Meltdown, and not Hyde Park :(

Line up is really amazing :smth055

Is anyone going to attend Meltdown?

Unfortunately not no. The line-up is indeed amazing!!
Are you going or maybe you are there now? And if so, for how many days will you be there?
