Secrets

The comments above capture it all for me.

I appreciate this song both on a musical level, and on the simple heartfelt honesty of the lyrics as well.

This is why I don't really warm to some of the more recent radio-friendly tracks (referencing the WMS disucssion in the other thread).

Carnage Visor

Most of you know I do not really like their newer stuff, and this rule applies for LOVE SONG. Although all Cure songs are pretty much great, there are a few I'm not in love with. LOVE SONG is a fantastic song, it's just really overrated, and it seems to be the ONLY CURE SONG that most kids know about these days...

Thats cool, if it attracts them to more Cure songs...they'll hear it and want to hear more Cure!

I like Lovesong esp. since it is on my favorite album. However, I was "torturing"(her words) my best friend with listening to the Cure and Depeche Mode the other night. However, when I played Pictures of You and Lovesong she said she liked those. However, when I play something like a forest, or play for today, or kyoto song(sp?) or even Apart, she does not like it. To each their own...she gets to "torture" me with new country when I ride with her.

I had an ex who swore that she detested The Cure. But that song kind of softened her up a bit... followed by Just Like Heaven and Close To Me.

It's kind of like bacon to a vegetarian.  :smth023

(Apologies to any vegetarians here. It's a joke. I've just known a few veggie's that have made the transition back to the meat-eating world because of bacon, earning it the title of "the gateway meat".)

OT but... :smth046 bacon to a vegetarian...I was a Veg. for almost 12 years and bacon was my gateway meat...

The studio version on Disintegration is really good (not my fave, but good).
Played live, it sucks.

Honestly, I don't really like Lovesong. I guess the lyrics seem to plain to me, but then again, High is my favorite song. It's just so short, and it never gets me interested enough each time. It's one of my least favorite disintegration songs. All of the songs on that song are deep, and lovesong just doesnt seem as good. :(

Listening/watching the Trilogy version of this today and although its a single, that ive probably heard hundreds of times i dont ever get tired of it. Both Trilogy and studio versions are fantastic, the organ in it is great and the bass......and well everything  :D

I think it's a great song, but I've heard it so many times that I'm a bit bored with it.

And I agree that the live versions don't always sound so great...

now...i'm also getting bored with the love song....

fro me the lyrics is good...but i hated when teenagers always know lovesong by 311 not the cure....and some teenagers said that the 311 sung was better than the cure....ssssuuuuuucccckkkkk  :smth011

Cure Freak

I really dislike Love Song. Mainly, due to the lyrics. They don't grasp me enough, too simplified.
But, I agree, it does have a very nice bassline.

ROGUE

:DAlso love the bassline, but also the lyrics ummm dont hold me either, Much prefer 'Just Like Heaven' Those words are magic to my ears,
and Fascination Street, mmm could just go on and on,

Also depends on the day or mood for me, which is my favourite, But always 'Just Like Heaven', and the other favourites change with mood for
me  :smth020

p.s. Cure Freak ~ you doing that flashback dance again, you know it hypnotises me, but i love it  :-D

I dont like the narrative style of lyrics on Just Like Heaven. Im starting to get bored of that one too. And if you put that on Youtube, everyone will kill you. XD
