Just in case anyone thinks bats aren't cute... because they really are... some orphaned Australian fruit bats being cared for in a wildlife centre:

We had some really interesting breakfast viewing the other day, and I thought it was worth sharing:

Quote from: Sören KierkegaardToday it said in the advertisement: "Due to a different regulation, 16 Ells heavy black silk fabric for sale". God knows which was the first destination. It could be a good reply if you let a girl who was cheated in the crucial days before the wedding report that 16 Ells heavy black silk fabric etc., was meant for a wedding dress.

Went to see The Cure in 1992 for the first time.
I still remember just how LOUD they were back then (although they were Simon-less, Roberto Soave was on bass).

40 years since Seventeen Seconds.

Well, I'm officially jealous - having never seen The Cure live, since I am a recent (5 years) fan and live in a remote location in Western Australia. :)

My husband has had the pleasure, though, back in 2002-ish.  Plus, we found someone to farm-sit for us should The Cure ever do another gig in Perth (but that's unlikely, I mean, who wants to play in Perth???).

Still, the recent live DVD release is fabulous!  :cool  And we're only halfway through it!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - 2020 inductees announced.

Cool to see NIN got in
RockHall 2020

...now imagining the ceremony. ...
My guess is that either Gary Numan or Peter Murphy will introduce. If David Bowie was still walking this earth then I think that he may have done it.
I can't imagine them playing songs like The Hand That Feeds or Head Like A Hole but it sure would be something if they did.  If I could choose... The Becoming would be a gob-smacking thing for them to play.
I'm guessing they'll play more mellow tracks, like The Fragile, and Hurt
Will be interesting to watch

I'm thinking people ought to be careful what they put in their hair.  This person accidentally put Expandafoam (building insulation / gap-filling foam) in her hair:

Also, it's a good idea not to keep this stuff in the same cupboard as your hair mousse or leave-in conditioner etc.

Those things in between the clotted cream clearly look not like strawberries, but they seem to be some kind of vegetable, they look like leaves to me.

People really should stop trying to look like Lady Gaga literally.

Do you know, there really are benefits to living in the middle of nowhere and not listening to mainstream radio or doing very much of other mainstream media.  Because even though I have heard of Lady Gaga (preposterous name, too) I have no idea what he/she looks like, and couldn't name a single song by him/her, or recognise one if I heard it.

I treasure my ignorance of such things. :heart-eyes   :beaming-face    :yum:

I don't really dislike her. I remember how she once turned up at some place dressed entirely in slices of raw steak (yes, raw steak).

SueC

I can't really comment on like / dislike, I just don't generally have high expectations of mainstream music, and avoid fads.  Maybe I'm being unfair, but there's also so much great music to listen to where I've already established that it's worth listening to, and digging into back catalogues as well... :cool

Raw steak?  :rofl  ...maybe too much preaching by vegans?  That could drive you to it.

I remember once making an unfair bet with a 13-year-old student who was obsessed with Justin Bieber and swore repeatedly out loud on a daily basis to marry noone but him, that she would not be feeling this way when she was 18.  ...she was not the type to continue with that sort of thing beyond the hormonal blip of hitting early adolescence.  :beaming-face

Gaga must be from post-2012, because that's when I stopped being in classrooms.  Previously I was well informed on all sorts of fads - more than I wanted to be, often, but then again, once these people got to 15, they were digging up some really interesting music, and reading their essays / listening to presentations about that stuff was great fun!   :)

Hadn't made an impression on my students at that point, then! :)

Which is interesting.

I don't know much about Lady Gaga (named herself after the Queen song "Radio Gaga", allegedly) and wasn't impressed by the (few) songs I heard, but I am interested in maybe viewing the movie "A Star Is Born" one day (featuring her and Bradley Cooper).
Years ago my niece talked about a song of hers "Alejandro" and I said "don't know this one", she said "sure you do", not much later it was on the radio - and indeed I'd heard it before...
