My name is Caley. I'm 25 years old and single. I live a couple miles outside of Sioux City, Iowa, USA ? a town of about 100,000 people. Iowa is about right in the middle of the United States, part of the "Midwest" ? a region of the country that The Cure seems to systematically avoid coming to!

The closest they've ever come is Minneapolis, Minnesota (about 5 hours away). They used to play there almost every tour starting in 1984 (Boris' first show), but they stopped coming after I saw them there on the Swing Tour in '96 (this is for download on my web site). Now they only come to Chicago - about 9 hours away!
There are a lot of farms and stuff like that here, but it's not all like that. Country music and blues are very popular here, but more recently lots of famous rock acts have started to come here. We're not all a bunch of hicks like some people may think, but it's definitely not the most interesting place to live. I live in the country and have very few neighbors, so it is very quiet here, which I really like.
I discovered The Cure when I was 12 years old while on vacation in Florida during the summer of '92. I didn't have cable at home, so I stayed in the hotel room a lot of the time watching MTV while my parents were out enjoying the beach. Friday I'm In Love was extremely popular at the time, and the video seemed to come on just about every hour. The first few times I thought, "What a bunch of weirdos! What is this crap? That guy looks like a clown!" Then after a few more times I actually listened to the music and realized how good it was. I think that taught me a good lesson in not judging people by the way they look! Very soon I bought Wish and fell in love with it. A while later Show came out, and that's when I realized that everything they did was good. It wasn't long until I bought all of their official albums and became obsessed!
I like just about all types of music except country, blues, and polka. Some of my favorite bands include Nirvana, The Beatles, Kent, U2, Van Halen, and all kinds of other '80s and early '90s rock/pop type stuff. I know this is probably atypical for a Cure fan! Just recently I've really gotten into Siouxsie and the Banshees. I also enjoy classical, trance, and even some rap.
I started playing guitar when I was 7, but really got serious about it when I was 15. I've learned so much about music from The Cure, definitely my biggest influence. Robert Smith is a genius! I used to be in a band a few years back. We recorded a couple albums and did a few live shows, but we had a hard time staying together.
Well, I guess I wrote more than I planned, so I'll leave it at that for now!
