On my mind is (was) an old "story" (of someone owing me money):

We had arranged a monthly repayment. It worked good for a while, but after a year or so she started to putting me off.

Well, the same could happen to me, but we'll see. I'll try and be patient (for a while at least).  :expressionless:

My patience (and "hope") has paid off. A few days ago I received a letter with the first part of the payment!
(I'd almost lost faith that it would ever happen... a strange feeling to open that envelope...)  :happy
Now there's hoping more of those will come over the next months (years?).  :cool

On my mind is RS's lyrics and how they've changed over the years.

Ulrich you mentioned the track Never, and I then went to read the full lyrics to remember what they were.

I then just started browsing and struck by how beautiful the lyrics in Faith are:
http://www.thecure.com/words/1981-1982/

Wow, what a textured landscape. A brilliant poet and artist ❤️

Then I reconsider the lyrics of Never and think ...What happened?
...Sorry, not wishing to get negative but jeez.
I kinda hope the new album (if it emerges) holds back on the soppy tragic romantic stuff and contemplates something real.

...I think today I must be having a John Lennon "Gimme Some Truth" moment
"Where the flesh meets the spirit world,
Where the traffic is thin..."

What's that, "real"? What I don't wanna hear from The Cure is "save the ocean" or "get on the bus"...

I want something like this (not "real", but coming deep from Robert's mind and emotions):
QuoteSo it's all come back round to breaking apart again
Breaking apart like I'm made up of glass again
...
now that I know that I'm breaking to pieces
I'll pull out my heart and I'll feed it to anyone

I don't imagine those lyrics anytime soon lol.

I dunno, perhaps I'm just working through some inner stuff here. Maybe more about being single and perhaps a bit disillusioned with the whole thing, so throw songs of relationships and romance at me and I'll be 😠
Lol.

Gotta say that I love RS unconditionally. He could sing tv commercials and I'd still be there, going to concerts and smiling my ass off.  The truth of who he is (the essence of him that shines through) is beyond any lyrics

Get on the bus Ulrich :rofl That makes me imagine Robert singing 'oh ye canny fling yer granny aff a bus' for some weird reason.

As much as I'm with you WOAW, I'd like to see a return of mild darkness and torment, as awful as that sounds to want to inflict on someone. Thats the stuff I connect to the most. He'll always be the one for me, who sings how I feel sometimes, especially when you have no words for feelings, he has. There's beauty in sadness.

Well I always found that many Cure songs/lyrics were about "hopeless love" or "love ending" in an unhappy way...
So maybe you can relate to that. (I could!)

Not for me. The whole picture (integrity, lyrics, musical ability, the way he talks in interviews...) is what makes him "Robert" for me.

Absolutely. There is a reason why "Disintegration" is among the most beloved albums by the band!

As far as I know, so far he has not (yet) "pulled out his heart" or "fed it to anyone" for real, thus I hope he'll continue writing his dark thoughts or his melancholy into brilliant lyrics!  :smth023
