Rules are:
1... NO CURE ALBUMS (so fans on this forum can see what other people are into)
2... ONE ALBUM PER ARTIST (you CAN'T put more than 1 album per band)

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
Brilliant album! Morrissey sings with such passion, and the lyrics are straight from the heart. This album always gives me the same chills as the Disintegration record does. If you don't have it, why don't you have it??

Radiohead - The Bends
Robert himself likes this album but then again who doesn't. Radiohead's finest moment (although some would call OK Computer their classic). I prefer the sounds on this record. "Planet Telex" is a tremendous opener, while "Street Spirit" is possibly one of my favourite all time closers together with The Cure's "Faith".

PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
Rough and rugged, PJ Harvey sounds like a woman possessed on this record. It's almost scary but more thrilling. I absolutely adore this album.

Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll
My favourite Cocteau Twins album often changes, from Heaven Or Las Vegas, Treasure or Milk & Kisses, but this is probably the one I listen to the most. It's so dreamy and shoegazey, it never gets old.

Bjork - Homogenic
This is one of my favourite albums to drive to and it has a lot of good memories for me :)

Damien Rice - O
Speaking of memories... oh boy. This guy from Ireland really knows how to pull all the strings. Seeing him live was the greatest show I've ever seen outside of The Cure.

Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See
"Fade Into You" is one of my favourite songs ever. If you like to lay back, relax and watch the clouds then this one is for you!

Cat Power - Moon Pix
I love her voice from this period. It's certainly changed over the years but I like the 1998 period the best and "Cross Bones Style" was the song that first got me into Cat Power.

Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk
Jingle jangle at it's best. Glasgow sure produce some great bands. Songs for the awkard kids in the schools, the people in crap jobs who are sick of drinking the coffees that "taste like washing up", and those who are madly in love!

Massive Attack - Blue Lines
I remember when I first put the CD in my player and I couldn't get to the second track, I just kept repeating track 1 "Safe From Harm" over and over. I was fixated on that song. When I did finally move on I discovered more great tunes that were way ahead of their time. I also really really enjoy Portishead's Dummy album and Tricky's Maxinquaye record. For me they all go together like a great trilogy... if you own one you have to own the others too!

i can't think of 10 without thinking about 15 at once... so i'll pick only 5 now.
the way i understand the question of "favourite albums": these are very likely not THE 5 albums that are most often on my playlist but more like 5 things that i just seem to be very attached to, for several different reasons:

nine inch nails: fragile [one of the few non-cure albums which have been almost shocking listening experiences, when first discovered]
kate bush: hounds of love
kent: hagnesta hill [linked to a certain period in my life which i'd really don't even  want to recall, that's why i rarely listen to it - but it'll hold fast on this list nevertheless]
porcupine tree: deadwing
pj harvey: is this desire?

Ay, in the very temple of Delight
Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine

Maybe we should add another 10 albums to our lists for a top 20 tally?

Feel free to do so!  :smth023

instead, i think we should make it only five or maybe even three - because THEN people would really have to choose carefully and really think/compare/choose well!
come on, 20 is just getting wayyy too easy... it loses meaning.

so make it three! what are the three ones that matter most?

OK then, if I had to choose only 3 non-Cure albums - let's say for a desert island trip, or something - then it would have to be these ones, as I never get tired of listening to them  :P :

Bjørk - Debut
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love

There is no end to the stars and the wind.
There is only you yourself,

No it isn't!  There are artists I didn't list on either list that I would have liked to. And there are other albums from artists listed that I also like just as much as the ones listed.  Not easy chosing just one.

Sigh. Fine...3.

Mantaray--Siouxsie
B-Day--Beyonce
Deviation--Jayne County
