It's from an interview in NME, 18th April 1992 Page 24.
(Also from Uncut Presents NME Originals: Goth Special Vol 1, Issue 17 Page 144... a great purchase since it has all NME/Uncut interviews from 79-92).

Especially for those broken heart people.. :-D

I THINK AT THE TIME - THERE WAS THIS BLURB THAT IT WAS THE LAST CURE SONG EVER TO BE MADE, (HENCE ANAGRAM) SO...

Cure

i would recomment FOREST
cuz 4 me it's the song that describes all the 80's dark
describe what The Cure really are
cuz 4 me, The Cure are not 'The End Of The Wolrd' or 'Lovecats'

ps: these 2 songs r gr8, it's just that i prefer The Cure of the dark ages..

I'm with you there, my friend!  :smth023

Being a CHRISTIAN DEATH fan as well, I prefer The Cure's darker/post-punk era to their later, more commercial status.

(I still love them now though, just to see them on TV or being referenced is enough to makeme giddy!)

I would definitely recommend Cold. Because nothing says "The Cure" like Cold.

Cool decision.. :smth023
Its a great recommendation if the person love the dark rhythm of song. Love The Cure at their dark age.

It's hard to recommended songs from a band that have such a varied back-catalogue. But if i was going for one that captures the whole Cure 'essence' so to speak it would probably be 'A Forest'.

...or just give 'em The Lovecats and tell 'em that's pretty much The Cure in a nutshell.

One song wouldn't be fare. I say just play'em a singles album!
standing on the beach, galore, or greatest hits.

or better yet, sit them down for a whole day and play them everything! ha, that would be torture for some of my friends.  :smth011 stupid people.
...and i run around hysterical
in dead persistent gloom...

Another old but interesting thread here...

Actually, to chose just one song to represent all sides of The Cure at the same time is a difficult task, of course, but I think I have a good one: 'Fascination Street." Why? It's kind of dreamy but rocking at the same. It's serious but also playful. It can be said to be sort of 'dark', but it is also catchy and even poppy in a way. And it has a sort of psychedelic vibe. Really, I don't think I can find other Cure song that is so many different things at the same time like this one.

Right.Only one track is not enough when somebody is "really" interested.
My neighbor asked for an album(!) from The Cure and I recommended Disintegration.
Then she downloaded the Deluxe-edition. :o
