and the way the rain comes down thats how I feel inside...

lyrics transcription

actually i almost don't like listening to that version, especially not if i'm not somehow prepared to listen to it. that doesn't mean i didn't like it, not at all. it's just too emotional, too alarming to me. to listen to it just craves so much energy, it's so aggressive that it's emotionally draining to listen to it.
so for me it's something reserved to some very rare occasions.
i do like some a bit more  reserved versions of 'faith' more, if i have to name my favorites. but that's another story.

I'm glad Robert never tried that kind of stuff again!

Fatter than Bob, balder than Porl, as sober as Simon, as amusing as Jason

Interesting Janko, that you say that. Whilst I agree with the sentiment that RS was expressing, I think that really it isn't one of the best Faith "extensions" in terms of sounding perfect.

Don't get me wrong, it's a gut-wrenching expression of his feelings that evening and really quite raw, naked and heart-felt but it seems kinda..... not in tune with what I believe Faith is about. Some people will argue against that last comment, but hey, bring it..

Clearly he felt a lot that night and yes it does stir up feelings whenever I listen to it!!

Robert was never too good with lyric improvisation.
Well, musical neither.

And that's all there is to it.

Musical neither!?  What about all those guitar solos on the "Robert Smith kicks ass" thread?

A absolutely great version of Faith!!!  :smth023
And it was because what happened on June 4th 1989 in Peking.
Haven't heard it since a long time, because it always makes me cry.

I think that Robert is one of the best improvisators i know, i mean with lyrics and musically!!
Would eat my hat if that isn't the case :D
