Release date of Head on the Door

Wikipedia says this album was released in July 1985.  But I distinctly remember dancing to In Between Days in a nightclub in Cambridge MA in May of 1985.  Anybody know if singles were released to dance clubs prior to official release date to the public?

As far as I remember, back in the 80's singles often were released a few weeks (or more) before the actual album. (That's the first single taken from an album - second single often came along with the album or shortly after).

Also, as you already guessed, promo singles were handed out to radio stations and possibly clubs to play before the official single release!

The book "Ten Imaginary Years" (official biography) gives July 1985 as release date for the single, August for the album.
