Welcome to the forum, samsonwilliams!

On the one hand, yes. On the other hand (as this article points out):

QuoteEdward Scissorhands' whimsical vibe was achieved through its production, make-up, and costume design as well as through its music, but the latter could have been very different had Burton's original plan come true, which in turn would have killed one of his best trends: his collaborations with Danny Elfman.

... In 1988, an interview with Smith for Spin Magazine reported that Burton, then known for Pee-wee's Big Adventure, wanted Smith to appear in one of his movies, though it wasn't specified which one and if it would have been a main or minor role. The Cure's former keyboardist Roger O'Donnell revealed years later that during the recording sessions for the album Disintegration in the late 1980s, Burton had asked Smith for The Cure to do the soundtrack for Edward Scissorhands, and even gave them the script.

In 1996, Smith told French magazine Télérama that Burton had approached the band to collaborate on different projects and he kept in touch with the band about his latest film projects, but the band had always been busy in some way. The music for Edward Scissorhands was ultimately made by Danny Elfman, who by then had already collaborated with Burton in Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, and Batman, so he had a good idea of what Burton's visual and narrative style is like, and he made a perfect soundtrack to accompany the tragic story of Edward Scissorhands. As for Robert Smith, he was asked to score the soundtrack for Sleepy Hollow in the late 1990s but he was busy, and he finally contributed music to two Burton projects years later: the Alice in Wonderland companion album Almost Alice and the companion album to Frankenweenie.

Ich bin kein Fan vom ESC, aber wenn die Schweiz das nächste Event dieser Art ausrichtet, würde ich es begrüssen, wenn B. Egli die Co-moderation übernimmt. Sie hat es verdient.  :cool

The dismissal of Mr. Schoigu with simultaneous attack operations in the Kharkiv area are more of a sign of weakness, not strength. They have to attack before the promised US aids arrive at the front. Nevertheless, a kind of defeatism is noticeable in western media. :?

Yep, never say "never".  ;)
"Maybe someday" (another Cure song!) you'll meet again.

I know what I'm talking about, because a few weeks ago I met a girl I hadn't seen in 29 years. And it went so well, we wanna meet again (soonish).

Quote from: Curehead_steffa on May 09, 2024, 15:47:22...siamese twins i heard about in a youtube video that theres some theory that its about molestation or some type of forced upon act that he had to do and he is traumatized from it.

Don't believe a word from theories on youtube, is what I would recommend.

(Never heard about this anywhere. Btw, RS said to understand the lyrics from that album, he would have to explain them "line by line", which he hasn't done so far. However, in my own theory, "Siamese twins" is about a (too) close "relationship" from start to finish: "flesh and blood and the first kiss... her legs around me.. I walked away and grew old".)

And a nice quote for you here:
QuoteI think it's a mistake to assume that Robert Smith's lyrics are autobiographical. And it's also a mistake to assume that if they are autobiographical, that they should be interpreted literally.

Quote from: Curehead_steffa on May 09, 2024, 16:20:47i heard that it was suppose to poke fun of modern pop songs that have meaningless lyrics, and that it was supposed to shift the perspective people had about the band ...

Yes, from all I heard/read that is true. Still Robert kinda "warmed" to the song, having performed it at many of the live shows!
