Levinhurst, featuring The Cure founding member Laurence Tolhurst, has
released a digital-only EP entitled "The Grey EP". It features a cover
of
the Cure classic "All Cats Are Grey" (featured in the new movie Marie
Antoinette), along with 2 alternate versions of songs on the upcoming
album.
The EP also is the first release with the new partnership with What Are
Records? who will be releasing the new full length disc in early 2007.

I finally heard the entire version of Levinhurst's cover of "All Cats Are Grey" (I cannot say where, for "legal" reasons).  I, personally, think it sucks REALLY bad.  I appreciate the atmosphere, but I think the vocals are just ill-suited for this track - to boring.  About the atmosphere, though.  Any cover of "All Cats" is going to have an "atmosphere" as the song was written this way, so I can't give them any points on that.  Back to the vocals - Robert has perfected the flat, pseudo-monotone delivery while Cindy Levinson really hasn't.
On another note, I have nothing against Levinhurst and I thought their cover of "A Forest" was fine in it's own right.  This version of "All Cats", however, is an abomination!

PS ... The band Air has release an album of songs that were influential for them for the 'Late Night Tales' project.  Apparently, the #1 song that has influenced them was none other than The Cure's "All Cats Are Grey".
